    Plan A:
Straight swap Gabriel > Saliba after the games are done *if price doesn't rise*.
    GW3 Roll
    GW4 Sell Estupinan > Botman/Colwill

    or

    Plan B:
    Roll and hope Gabriel starts.
GW3 Sell Gabriel to Colwill if he doesn't start.
    GW4 Sell Estupinan to Botman

this isn't advice, but if I owned Gabriel, I would probably keep him, unless I got some real news. Its not like Gabriel is injured, he came on. He probably does start next week if he came on. Who knows what the issue was, maybe it was a precaution whilst they did a test or something.

Yeah I'm leaning more towards this. Being exposed to forest in a back 3 makes me think/hope he starts.

I moved Gabriel out for Saliba, because I have Stones and Gabriel. I’m okay with Pep Rouletter with Stones, but I can’t run the benching risk with two defenders. Will move off of stones to Newcastle once fixtures clear.

Saliba seems to be the top choice for CB in a three man backend, over Gabriel, so why not start him if he’s actually set and forget?

That was my thinking with plan A. I'll keep an eye on price rises and make a decision if I'm forced into it. But I set out with my draft to have the Gabriel 5m arsenal spot as set and forget. Will be a headache having to worry about him every week.

Newcastle. TBH I thought newcastle would do well, but everyone recently has been singing villas praises. I guess it went to Emery's head.

I was so close to picking Barnes, swapped him to Bowen 5 mins before the deadline, but I cant complain.

It amazing how preseason plans can be upended so quickly. I really liked the Palace and Villa defender rotation so I bought Andersen and Pau which actually works quite well if they both play. Now already Villa look in a bit of bother with the Mings injury. Hoping they sort themselves out with a cleanie for Pau next week.

I’m hoping Everton’s lack of a striker will give Villa a chance to reproduce their preseason form. If they don’t look better then good as he is, Pau will be out of my team. Pleased with Andersen today though, so half the plan worked so far!

Not sure on your squad but I'd personally roll if you can.
Rodri is pretty nailed, and occasionally takes up the Gundo role but if I were you I'd downgrade to a playing 4.5m and put that 1m into getting a 5.5 striker or def.

Edouard/Pedro/Nketiah punts or James/Chillwell if you don't have.

OK I'll amend my statement... "Rodri is a defensive mid who looked like a box-to-box mid in a sample size of one game against a newly promoted side, and who averaged 3 ppm last season"
I would eventually dump D. Luiz for a 4.5 bench fodder and use the 1m somewhere else. Rodri might do fine over the short term good fixture run, but OP isn't going to finish with a high ranking by starting defensive midfielders. And I certainly wouldn't bring him in right before Newcastle, when Luiz is about to face Everton at home.

Yes, I'll give you credit because that's actually informative, thanks. But it doesn't change my point, that is now amended to "Rodri is an amazing box-to-box midfielder who has averaged 2.6, 2.7, 3.8, and 3.0 ppm in his 4 seasons with City". The original question was, should I transfer Luiz to Rodri, and my answer is no.

Gabriel on the bench, was that a tactical decision?
"Yeah, we expected a game that actually happened and we needed somebody else in midfield to do what we did best, to have more fluidity and occupy certain spaces in relation to how they’re defending. It worked really well."

Why is it? Would anyone have picked Gabriel pre-deadline if they knew in plenty of time he would be dropped? The answer is no, so why would you expect people to keep him in their teams with that uncertainty now?

No idea. Actually makes no sense. Think arteta wants to include Havertz at any cost so he is playing partey but he wants partey to play too so gabriel sacrificed

He should have just benched nketiah. Havertz didnt look good at that position. Rice partey odegard is more solid midfield

He basically has saka martinelli trossard Havertz and nketiah to fill 3 spots then. Nketiah definitely better finisher than Havertz as 9

My read is that Arteta is full of shyte. Gabriel was a precautionary benching due to some type of small niggle, who wouldn't have gone anywhere near the field if Arsenal were up 2 or more goals late, but Arteta's keeping his cards close to the vest by using the "tactical" excuse. Having said that, I'm holding. Gabriel to Saliba is entirely too sideways

It's not an early team sheet leak, so I'm intrigued why would someone close enough to Arsenal senior squad decide to tip-off Andy about a tactical benching?

What credible motivation could there be?

Put your self in their shoes, why would an anonymous briefing going viral be a good idea (to do a few times as it's a preview source)?

I'm not talking about Andy making a live sub or how he didn't explore it or the impact on others in FPL or the timing.

Why would the original source be motivated to do it in the first place?

Whatever the reason, FPL is a bit cringe now. Too many paywalls, influencers, leaks, etc.

All the creators trying to get ahead of each other. Now with Twitter ad revenue, it'll be even worse.

Agreed, it does seem odd…never fully understood why insiders leak team sheets, unless there is some sort of betting plan in place - bet against player starting etc, but what that has to do with FPL, am not sure…

Don't think you can bet on starting players.

There used to be a bet for the time the ball is first out of play, every week in the lower league at kick off the attacking team would over hit it into touch.

        Unless that's an urban myth?

I'd imagine it's just some youth player at Arsenal that's told his mate and it's just spread from there. I knew about a serious injury to a player way before the press did and I definitely don't have my ear to the ground.

One theory is 'help out' their mates with subs - likes and subscriptions etc.
But what I think will happen in future managers will clamp down on it. Making dummy teams and dummy line ups so they will have the tactical edge.

But all it takes is a friend of a friend who is a grandson of the tea lady - who leaks player info to some FPL 'content creator' because it gives them some sort of validation.

And I am starting to have a more sinister theory. I think the content creators have set people paid to give information to them.

A certain percentage of their you tube earnings each year, so it is win-win for everyone. A buzz is created - click, like subscribe etc. It would not surprise me if it was someone affiliated with the FPL company either.

      1. Jafooli
        • 13 Years

Yikes, if true and exposed that theory will be a rough ride for someone…

        1. Wrong Captain Choice - Ag i…
          • 16 Years

Think about it though, it makes sense to create a buzz, those content creators are earning good money now - 50/100 quid a week to a well placed source at a club where the teams are hard to predict. Money well spent.
Then release it at the last minute for dramatic effect, buzz created.

Plus those viewing the live stream have to watch until the end - the sponsors like it - the FPL likes it. The only losers are those not in 'the know' or inner circle. I think at this stage many big content creators are playing the system completely. It is not about the FPL game anymore but the game within the game = £££££££££££.
          Easy money at that.

After all the Gabriel drama, only a 4pt difference between them. In the grand scheme of things, not a big deal.

Looks like Arsenal and City's defence are an avoid for a while. Think Stones is OK out the lot still if you have cover.

A lot of value with Trent, Chilwell, etc. you don't need these headaches.
