Sterling -> Son for a free? Exact cash in the bank, won't be able to make this move after Sterling's fall today. I really want Son next week!

    Turner, Onana
    Estu, Akanji, Botman, Trippier, meh
Saka, Mitoma, Sterling, B Fernandes, Maddison
    Alcaraz, Haaland, meh.

I've slated Chelsea on the previous page but I fully understand my comments can become instantly irrelevant to future events.
This game is transitional by nature and it is our job to try and predict these potential outcomes.
Can Jackson and Sterling haul in the next three g/w's? Of course they can.
Am I on board with that potential transition? No.
Why? Because that Chelsea "SCAR" imo needs many more months of healing to worry me now.

    On WC.

    A) Udogie, Maddison (0.2 ITB)
    B) Trippier, Neto (0.5 ITB)

    ?

A includes two Newcastle defenders whereas B is triple Newcastle defence. I'm on A at the moment but as I'm trailing I'm thinking that most people will have two Newc defenders so getting 3 makes it a true sword. Not sure about the Neto pick but he rotates well long-term with Cash and the 3 Newc defenders. The problem I forsee is if Neto gets injured/goes cold he'll be hard to move off from.

    A
    Areola Turner
    Udogie Cash Botman Burn Taylor
    Salah Son Saka Maddison JWP
    Haaland Alvarez Archer (0.2 ITB)

    B
    Areola Turner
    Trippier Botman Burn Udogie Taylor
    Salah Son Saka JWP Neto
    Haaland Alvarez Archer (0.5 ITB)

    Cheers.

On a WC and 60points down against mini-league leader.

    Areola - Turner
    Trippier-botman-cash-estupinan-kabore
    Salah-son-saka-fernandes-maddison
    Morris-alvarez-watkins

    Morris (c) for gw7
    Son (c) for gw8 and 9
    Salah (c) gw10

Big differential to go against haaland. Am I mad or could this work?

    1. Phil's Stamps
      • 14 Years
      2 years, 2 months ago

60 points after 6 game weeks is nothing. Doing something different would help you catch them, but not THAT different (i.e. don't lose Haaland). Son and Salah caps might work, but I would avoid Morris completely.

I'm in a similar position and am considering triple Newcastle defence as an avenue to claw my way back.

Oooooh thats a good one. Although with the injuries cpl have I can see Utd keeping a cs this gw.
How about mbeumo chilwell > jwp trippier? Not sure about selling mbeumo though. Estu seems the easiest sell of the lot with 3 tough fixtures coming up.

        1. Holmes
          • 12 Years
          2 years, 2 months ago

Yep, first thought was getting rid of Mbeumo but fixtures are okay. Re Estupinan, you might want him back in 3 weeks time.

Onana switch was merely a bonus long term move that enables getting an ideal replacement for Chilwell. Might not work this week but you will be set from next week onwards.

I would play safe with Chilwell to Botman.

On a WC and trying to decide between the two:

    A) Ward-Prowse + Diaby + Cash with 0.9 itb

    B) Gordon + Bruno + Tarkowski with 0 itb

For context, Cash vs Tarkowski in pen area touches - 23 vs 16 and shots in the box - 11 vs 5. Going by these numbers, Tarkowski seems rather underrated. Does the eventual return of Moreno affect Cash going forward? Is Gordon nailed?

    Which side would you pick?

    1. Phil's Stamps
      • 14 Years
      2 years, 2 months ago

      A. Gordon is on 4 yellows, Diaby is in a team in better form than Man U with good fixtures coming and Cash vs Tark, ditto.

As I understand it Moreno affects Digne? Someone correct me if wrong.

      1. Phil's Stamps
        • 14 Years

Also, you'll need that 0.9 for later transfers. I find going with 0.0 ITB after a WC almost inevitably results in a hit or two.

Cheers. Those are some great points. Bruno is also on 3 yellows.

Last season, Moreno was more attacking than Cash when both were on the field together.

I do like the flexibility of cash itb.

Probably A or JWP. Would imagine that Sheff Utd look to park the bus against West Ham, but they looked dreadful defending set pieces

Gordon could be a good option, but he could be rotated. He was originally on the bench against Sheff Utd. Not sure if that meant he was earmarked for starts in the midweek cup match and then PSG. Would wait to see news on Barnes's injury and also the Newcastle lineup against Man City.

JWP or Bowen in for Eze? I have exact funds for Bowen, JWP I think could have a field day with his delivery in the next game given how useless Sheff United are at defending set pieces.

      Thanks buddy!

      I'm leaning toward Bowen.

If he can perform like he did in 2021/22 season with 12 goals, 17 assists then he's an easy option.

      2022/23 wasn't as good with 6 goals, 9 assists.

Still feels like a bargain at 7.1m.

I find it quite curious how Sven Botman is 22% owned yet Dan Burn who is basically the same as Botman in terms of his likely points if they both get similar starts over the same season is 4% owned. He's got 90 in every game this season including deputising at CB for Botman and started 35 games last season. Howe loves him basically, he's every bit as nailed as Botman. Why no love for Dan Burn? This is coming from a Botman owner for what its worth who thought Burn might be at risk from Lewis Hall. I now don't see Eddie using Lewis Hall in that position much at all.

Possible rotation fear.. with Targett can cover LB..

.. and May be Transfer fees paid for these players might give an impression on their pecking order for club starting 11 too. ?

Maybe because Botman is one of the best CBs in the league and people always doubt how long Burn can keep his place at LB. Botman usually gets more BPS in games.

Plus some Geordie buyers may have more of an affinity due to the 'famous' Sven Adult Bookstore in Newcastle.

As people are saying, no need to put yourself in a position where you need to bench 2 of the best FPL mids.

Would you play Kabore (eve BUR) over Cash (BHA) ?

      Defenders vs BHA is bad.

Yes. But brighton are not good defensively.

Cash is racking up xGi numbers of good midfeilders and forwards. So i would play him for the attacking returns.

I think Luton would be lucky to get a cs as both Everton and Burnley will need to pick up points and go on the attack against Luton

Although what you say is true, Brighton most likely will score. So then you’re relying on Cash to get some kind of attacking return, or else Luton to concede 3 in each game for you to come out on top.

Of Villa’s 11 goals so far this season, Cash has been involved in 2 (granted, his xGI is 3). Although a Luton cs is unlikely as you say, Kabore does have some assist potential.

tldr: since Kabore has two bites of the cherry I would side with him.

    A) Who would you bench for Kabore?

    Estu, Cash, Botman

And who would you bench for Morris (getting him for Eduard)?

    Salah, Saka, Mbeumo, Maddison, Diaby,
    Haaland, Alvarez

Watkins off the mark and with great fixtures. Gabriel Jesus back in the starting 11, great fixtures on the horizon.

If these two start to hit it off, how on earth are we meant to get one or both of them in? At their price points and the fact we're mostly on 3-5-2.

At the risk of stating the bleeding obvious, you can’t have ‘em all.

With so many good options this year, it’s a crap shoot. Take your pick and hope for the best.

Footnote: if your picks score loads of points, it doesn’t make you a genius, if they don’t it doesn’t mean you’re a useless FPL manager either.
