    A) De Bruyne -> Salah
    B) Saka -> Son
    C) Both (-4)

for this GW only, plan to use wildcard next GW.

Maybe wait for any Saka news, but I'd expect De Bruyne to start this GW.

      Wouldn't do C personally

Avoid the hit before the WC, straight up gamble.

Wait for deadline news, I'd sway towards B.

Watkins to Isak or keep FT and get Haaland for free next week?

    Kelleher
    Porro/White/Gabriel
    Salah/Son/Saka/Diaz/Palmer
    Watkins/Solanke

    Martinez/Toney/Doughty/Taylor

I used to watch loads of content now I just watch 1 video near the deadline to see who’s fit and what moves I could make

This game is 90% luck, 5% actually being bothered to be engaged, miss no deadlines, get team news etc and 5% ‘skill’

I'd say being bothered to engage is at least 30%. Skill is less than 10%. Luck makes up the rest in terms of how good a rank you get.

I think that’s probably fair, you’ll beat 80% of players just by not missing deadlines and listening to news

Luck and skill with a sprinkling of magic to reach the top 10k - I'm currently at 1.5m after last night, but have had 2 x Top 10k finishes.

For luck: I went with Garnacho on WC, mainly as a good enabler who might get me points when needed and forward looking for the DGW BB in 37, had him 1st bench, but luckily Haaland didn't play.

Skill: Went with MacAllister based on good stats, good comments from manager vs Saka who I dropped because of fatigue concerns

Bothering to engage: Palmer - it's pretty obvious he's been on fire all season, and he's cheap why would anyone vaguely engaged not get him on WC.

Yeah, content is pretty much all the same now, group thinking and copying what others said.

Not really watching much these, if I it’s the Planet FPL, these two are shite at the game but have some interesting observations about football & tactics.

From people known in these parts, I’m always happy to stop and listen what Luke has to say as often he’s the only one here with out of the box ideas.

Agree that game is mostly luck, pick your players and roll the dice.

    Areola
    Saliba Gabriel Zabarnyi Dawson
    Salah[vc] Son Kudus Palmer
    Haaland[c] Solanke

    Dubrav Nacho Bradley Mateta

    Currently 1ft and 0.4m itb.

Yes, I know Areola is flagged but I do not trust Moyes. [WH ST holder]
Plan to roll transfer this week and enable a bigger move next week to build towards my dead end BB34 before using WC in GW35 for the run in.

I was waiting on Alisson news before deciding whether to get Kelleher or not, but maybe Pickford is the safer DGW option.

On a WC and FH in 34, the attack sets up itself:

    Salah Son Foden Palmer
    Haaland Isak

Who would your 7th & 8th attackers be?

    Garnacho Gordon Johnson Gallagher Saka
Solanke Jackson Hojlund Watkins Pedro Muniz

I was admin on a certain football fan page on Facebook for a few years and gave it up due to the negative population bring the loudest and the content/positive population being quiet. I am afraid it comes with the territory when putting yourself front and center on social media. These guys give personal advice/opinion on a game that has high variation, you accept it and use it to inform your own decision or you ignore it but blaming them when goes wrong is just well wrong. The majority enjoy the articles and advice/opinions but may not ever say it. I am in that camp...rarely post/comment here but read articles every week again to inform my decisions, if it goes wrong so be it. This is my worst season since I started in 2009/10, I cannot get a decision correct and have made some terrible mistakes but I blame no one for it despite any advice/opinion I got from Scout or the Scout community. It's a game and it's supposed to be fun.

Nice article AZ. I don't know if this is who you were referring to, but I really miss Ted Talks, and my FPL experience is diminished by his taking a step away. He was an excellent interviewer; he had such a personable personality - I rarely stream any of the videos, but once I came across him, I'd always watch his videos.

As with any of these content creators, it's up to us as punters whether we choose to engage with their content. It's very clear that social media is hugely detrimental to many people's mental health. I deactivated Facebook a few years ago, following 14 years of spending WAY too much time on it, and I feel much better for it. In fact I'm embarrassed that I ever gave two hoots about how many likes a photo of mine got.

In terms of FPL, I haven't had a good season in over a decade. This season started great, and then it all fell apart at the end of November when my focus shifted to having a kitchen extension put onto my house. It sucked balls, but the extension is amazing, so frankly my consistently abject FPL performances should be taken as a lesson in humility.

Keep up the good work, AZ. You shouldn't care, but you're good in my book 🙂

"There also seem to be issues with tags such as the “expert” label, of which I have never once seen a mainstream FPL account label themselves as (but is rather used by companies such as the Premier League, or who look to add credibility to the people they have selected to be on their panel)."

I guess the point being made is that it's not the fault of the experts that FFS calls them experts. But that doesn't change that people don't like the tag "expert", so the point isn't very pointy.

Ha I do appreciate the irony of that, but as you say below, it’s not my decision to label myself as an “expert”. Scout make that decision to add credibility to my name and it’s not exactly something that’s unique to FPL. I don’t like the way the tag is used as a weapon in some cases against different people when their advice doesn’t come in for example, or as an attempt to discredit or belittle people who generally do have an excellent understanding of the game

I see where you're putting the blame, and I do agree that people are awful, but it's FFS and other companies' choice to brand you as experts and open you up to this kind of ridicule. So perhaps you could ask them not to.

"Constantly comparing yourself to others – particularly on a social media platform where often people only share the good bits – certainly isn’t a healthy way to approach a game. "

Isn't that then whole point of playing FPL? Doing well in Mini Leagues/OR. We are literally competing against ourselves.

Yes people only sing when they win, but plenty of people love to post a sob story too.

Yeah it is, but the game has opened up to publicly competing with a select group (eg friends, members of Scout) to now thousands of other people on X - many of who will only post when things are going their way. It’s a thankless task where you’re either on par with them or in the mud.

How very open and honest of you Az. With relative anonymity comes, 7unfortunately in some cases, antisocial behaviour. It can border on threatening and is often bullying like "joining in" with giving someone a "good kicking". These individuals are sad cases and I suppose as you said shouldn't judge themselves against the unbalanced and excess positivity people appear to need to do to feel they have to do to justify themselves to the world. This is social media though. Keep up the good work on this and other platforms!

Great article Az. I consume loads of FPL content (particularly FFS podcasts) but rarely comment, subscribe etc.

I did a media module in uni which roughly broke down engagement as follows:
90% of people consume content but rarely engage.
9% of people engage/subscribe/like etc (this will include the negative comments/trolls etc).
1% actually create all the content.

So I'd like you to bear in mind that 90% of people will consume the content and be very happy with what's offered up by you and other creators like you, you just may not get feedback very regularly on that consumption of your content. For every negative comment/poster, there at likely to be at least ten times the amount of people who you don't hear from who are very happy with the content.

Forget the haters, the people who post this stuff are hugely in the minority. The majority of us greatly appreciate and respect the work you and your colleagues do! Keep up the good work!

The word 'hate' is defined as extreme dislike or disgust.

You might experience such a strong response from being a victim of serious crime or hardship.

Disagreeing with someone on a basic level such as PPL is not hate, it's a difference of opinion.

Exaggerating the definition of hate to label and shut down oppossing opinions is a bigger problem.

I reject being called a 'hater' because I don't agree with someone who thinks they are morally superior.

I have absolutely no problem with people telling me them aren’t a fan of BlackBox etc, don’t like my content, I take it all on board.

What I do have a problem is when people make it personal. I had a message the other day calling me an “awful person, awful FPL manager”. I’ve had other messages saying i’m annoying, whiney, smug, arrogant, don’t know what I’m talking about, irritating… the list goes on and on. I’ve always been good at blocking out the noise but the point of the article was jus to note that I feel this is ramping up year on year to a point in which just “developing thick skin” doesn’t really cut it anymore - and I’ve been around for a long time, it’s even worse for those who are looking to break into the world.

On your last comment, who thinks they are “morally superior” - this is exactly what I was referencing in the article. Where has this attitude come from and what’s it based from?

Didn't you literally just back-handedly accuse him of believing himself to be morally superior?
The answer is yes, because it's written above. Forever.

        Great article AZ.
I personally like your relaxed attitude, with Q&A, and Blackbox in particular. It's a nice personality to have.

Social media, especially twitter is a nasty place at times.

Most people cannot critically think for themselves or understand that freedom of speech comes with responsibility, who take this line of attack. I feel sorry for them, but it does make you angry, i get that,

I am social media sometime as a researcher on induced medical harm from psychiatric drugs mainly antidepressants and Benzodiazepine WD but also in antipsychotics, because it happened to me and I never give advice, it is opinions based on research and evidence we have done, with others (which 50% of what you know now, will in 5 years years time will be either wrong and out of date and you dont know what 50% that is, principle) but there is no wrong or right answer , it is discussion and opinions and simply asking questions where the puzzle get bigger the more answers you get. Anyway i often ramble, because I am no expert, never will be, nor is anyone else in the field but some like to proclaim they are.
But people can get nasty with you for having an opinion? This is why i mention my own personal experience

I got a physics masters at Sussex University as a Palace fan so as a risk taker probably do more hits that most lol. It was great banter though as a lot of people came from South London too

But the "hate" is a term i use is pure personal abuse, and never debate or opinions. It is often posted by people who a reactionary and never think about their own actions and take responsibility for it.

I am not a data driven FF manager and really enjoy different styles (So i like Blackbox and the light heartedness for a reason) and i personally prefer the content which Deadline dilemmas, as an example or whatever, but that's my choice of content I chose to watch for engagement.

It sadly part of our society as some people do have a lot of bad luck there lives, but instead of helping others in the same boat, they like to lash out instead

I think you all do a great job, i don't know why, you are tagged as experts, Sky Sports do that a lot as well as the media. Experts say..."xyz". so it must be true. lol. Especially when the template doesn't work at the start of the season and that is s when the FOMO is at it's highest, again IMO.

Labels are always part of the problem, and it is maybe FFS should think about.

Yes, we should always take what is in the dictionary as being the correct and literal meaning of words that doesn't change over time at all! This is just a way of disagreeing with what Az said on a technicality but not showing your true opinion which is what?! YAWN!

It's time that the Golden Boot competition comes into thinking.

Palmer is only 2 goals off Haaland at the top now (as is Salah, Watkins and Solanke)

Palmer vs leaky Sheffield is a chance for Palmer to rack up the goals

Could easily be another hat-trick for Palmer. Fingers crossed as he's my captain.

    What’s the best move(s) (taking into account FH34 BB37?

    A. Kaminski > Petrovic/Dubravka
    B. Toney/Watkins > Isak
    C. VVD > Porro/Udogie (for Haaland money)
    D. Doughty > Gusto

    Kaminski (Areola)
    VVD Gabriel Branthwaite (Pau Doughty)
    Palmer Son Salah Saka Foden
    Toney Watkins Muniz

A = Chelsea have 0 CS in the last 8 and Newcastle have 1 CS in 13
C = Gusto has 2 assists in the last 10 and 0 CS

I think B or C. If you're chasing people in your mini-league I would base the decision on that.

If you're chasing = go B and leave Haaland alone (riskier but he isn't on fire so could be the bold shout that pays off)
If you're not chasing = go C I think. Owning Haaland for the run-in is the less risky play.

It's just a game at the end of the day and I wish the people who throw insults around online would realise that. Does it matter in the grand scheme of things? No. Not at all.

Play the game how you want and if you're looking for tips/advice then you need to understand that nothing is a guarantee. Enjoy FPL for what it is; giving us all something extra to cheer on while watching the Prem and bragging rights with your mates.

Keep up the good work Az!

On the topic of tips/advice, I'm torn if anyone has some advice. I need to start 3 and bench 2 (can be in any order):
    Ait-Nouri (H - WHU)
    Zabarnyi (A - LUT)
    Douglas Luiz (H - BRE)
    Cunha (H - WHU)
    Solanke (A - LUT)

Currently, I want to play Cunha, Solanke and Ait-Nouri as I just have a feeling Wolves turn up at home against West Ham & Luton after dropping back into the relegation zone have a bit of a rally at home.
