Thanks, TM. Just had a look at your team there and you've got a nice easy route via Darwin, if you do. Anyone else tempting you beyond Jackson?

Still would need to lose Gusto for a hit. Joao Pedro would be the only option I'd consider as Man United are terrible.

Thoughts on Wilson’s minutes in the double Neale?

Howe likely to stick with 442 or return to 433…

I could see him maybe trying it again at home to Brighton (not a guarantee) but I suspect he may go back to 4-3-3 for United away, with Joelinton hopefully fit enough to start in midfield at that stage. Just my own initial thinking, mind!

But I suppose I feel like taking a few punts as I have nothing to lose at this stage of the season so I want to go against the template. Feels weird being happy to have him back for GW38 though but overall he ended up a good pick on WC30

I can see the hit with A paying off. Don't like Trippier as an option due to likely limited minutes. B obviously only if Bruno fit, but given United's form, i'd prefer C over B

Thanks I think Gusto out for Jackson for -4 like you probablhy works. Think Gusto unlikely to start both and I'd back Chelseas attack over defence.

I agree Trippier unlikely to play both so unless Howe says he plays both i will go for Burn. Romero double up with Porro silly?. He looks a goal threat or go for Branthwaite or Tarkowski?

A lot of teams are in the situation with a few injured defenders and Ederson blocking Gvardiol. Is there enough upside with the Gvardiol route?

    A) Romero, Ederson (Free)
    B) Vicario, Gvardiol (-4)

Vicario could be Onana, Romero could be Dalot, but I can't see me having enough confidence in United.

    1. Bucket Man
      • 7 Years

Think A could be better. Vicario will concede where as Romero has goal threat and I have Gvardiol already but not sure he starts both Ederson will surely.

Lets assume that CS and appearance points are equal, you are asking whether Vicario gets more saves than Ederson and Romero more attacking returns than Gvardiol. It is possible - but enough to pay off a hit? Possibly not.

Definitely avoid United. Tempted to shift Onana out myself

Basically the imaginary scenario to justify the hit is a Gvardiol attacking return over Romero. I suspect the keepers don't matter.

Had two FT's last week and rather than burn one I took the gamble on Gusto staying out and brought in Maguire. Couldn't make it up! Plan was Salah>City mid then upgrade Kelleher for bench boost. Quite happy to keep Salah now, so who on earth do I get for 8.1m? Can only see Travers and Livramento as options really...? Terrible bench boost but injuries precluded me using it as planned in DGW28 and 35!

    Henderson
    Ganriel Van de Ven Branthwaite
    Salah Son Saka Odegaard Palmer
    Haaland(c) Solanke

    KELLEHER Mateta MAGUIRE Richards

Hmmm. Firstly, play Mateta over Solanke.

I think you need a City defender (which I cannot believe I am saying). Gvardiol popular for obvious reasons but Walker a good shout too.

Ahh apologies, didn't clock the BB and saw the £8.1m without realising it was for 2 positions.

You really have two options - downgrade for a hit and spread the cash into the two defender positions. Or accept sub-par replacements with the budget limitations.

£8.1m isn't getting much, and not with certainty of minutes. I'd be tempted to go Ortega (£3.6m) leaving you £4.5m for a decent defender option and just pray Ortega gets a run out. Even Areola as the cheapest GK with certainty of starts (£4.2m) leaves you £3.9m and you already own the most sensible £3.9m option...

Ruben out for Gvardiol? No bench boost and I have 12/13 doublers depending on Bruno’s fitness. If Ruben doesn’t play then Dalit comes in.

Main reason I am thinking no is I might want to do Bruno to Salah next week and need two transfers for that.

Would really like to replace Schar with another Newcastle defender. Main ML rival has Burn so love the idea of Livramento for the double and to save cash but consciousTrippier is back in training.

Hard to be sure now with Trippier / Hall available as well. Burn is the safest option.

Agree Burn is safest option. In your position I’d go Livramento - if he comes off after 60 mins for returning trippier he’s safer for CS points. But he’d be first choice above Hall at LB.

And he gets in the right places for goals/assusts.

I think so, yes - upside is much higher. Likely they score similar, or at least Rich not out scoring garnacho by 4 or more. But there’s a decent-ish chance of him scoring lots against SHU or Burnley. And I probably prefer him against city than garnacho against Arsenal.

Would you use a FT to move on Onana as part of a BB?

Don't fancy Onana's chances of saves with Casemiro and Evans in front of him - but I guess it depends who for. I have Petrovic and can't get Ederson. Dubravka not assured enough of minutes and don't fancy Vicario with Porro already. Brighton are Brighton. So not really any doubling options. Pickford or Raya a good shout, but both would be a double-up on a SGW team (eggs and baskets and all that) but think SGW options are limited.

So I guess the answer is stick and home for some save points or a jammy pen save?

Exactly what you said in your last sentence - hope for save points and maybe a random penalty save.

Yeah, he'sa racked up a save point in every game this year except vs SHU and 2 points in about 1/3 of those games (notably against the bigger sides) so he should be good for about 7 points from appearances and saves minus however many goals conceded of course.... (which is where the concern comes in)
