    G: 4.5, 4.0
D: Gvardiol, Mylolenko, Burn, Konsa, 4.0
    M: Nkunku, Eze, Gordon, 4.5
    F: Haaland, Isak,

A: Salah and Wood - best opening fixtures for both and love Woods’s conversion rate and SOT
B: Watkins and Saka - Saka has worse opening fixtures but Watkins has good ones.

I feel like B is best long-term but at same time feel Saka and Watkins are a bit overpriced. Worried about Salah age decline too though.

Let’s say I go with Salah(I tended to lean towards A too)

        A. Wood + Nkunku + 4.5 goalie

        B. Muniz + Hudson Odoi + Raya

Again I like A for the potential of Nkunku if preseason is good. Arsenal has a nasty first 11 GW. However, Raya is the cheapest way into the best PL defense the last 2 years rather than 2 expensive CB.

        A or B?

A is hard to ignore due to Nkunku's potential + I don't fancy Raya early on.

Morning gents. How's this for a Haaland-Salah-TAA draft?

    C. Miguel
    TAA | Mykolenko | Robinson
    Salah | Gordon | Eze | Nkunku
    Haaland | Isak | Muniz

    SUBS: 4.0 GK | Winks, Barco, Harwood-Bellis

pretty good, I’d maybe get Robbo over TAA in this case to not have 2x 4m defs

Thank you. However Robertson has fallen off a cliff form wise in the past couple seasons so I am not interested in him (LFC fan, unfortunately).

Robbo is still averaging over 4 points a game. He was injured for 3 months last season, actually played pretty well when fit.

Our teams are very similar structurally so it just comes down to you have two 4.0 defenders and a 4.5 mid. In essence, you have stripped out all the fat everywhere else.

Since our teams are so similar (you have TAA and I have Gvardiol), the only difference is that my team can use some 4.5 defenders to rotate. Such as the Crystal Palace / Everton rotation and Konsa / Burn (dream is Liv getting starting RB). You don’t get that and have to rely on TAA basically. Liverpool has the best opening fixtures but of course we all know their last two years where they always seem to go down 1-0 in first half.

What do you think about Crystal Palace Goalies? If one of the two Hendo or Sam win the job, I can then remove Andersen and take Konsa for example.

        • 3 Years

I am dead set on TAA for the first five or six fixtures, so am happy to make some sacrifices and hope one of the 4.0 / 4.5 defenders reveal themselves to be a proper asset.

I also like the Crystal Palace GK spot once we figure out who is starting and who isn't, though I prefer Andersen to Konsa.

Yeah if you like Trent then that is great. Also by min maxing your other spots you might save a transfer in future since you don’t have to balance funds.

Last year FPL I had a chance to have a 4.5 defender slot and didn’t use it. I was really high on Udogie or Tarkovski. However, didn’t go in on either with much regret to pay more for udogie / Porro later. The other Everton CB for 4.0 was a life saver though. Hence, I maybe overrating 4.5 defenders because of my experience last year.

I like Andersen over Konsa but still would like to Konsa in if possible. Crystal is the only one of Everton, Villa, Newcastle, to have a 4.5 goalie as well. Granted we don’t know who gets the job. I can see why you went with the giant goalkeeper haha

I had CHO instead of Nkunku before as I had originally used the extra 1.0 on Raya. But decided later to spend the extra 1.0 downgrading Raya to 4.5 and boosting CHO to Nkunku.

I know you are trying to lock in longterm players but for me :
Eze - transfer rumours, lost Olise, Mateta back late from Olympics , not amazing fixtures , will be back late to preseason so is a wait and see

Bowen : Terrible fixtures , back late, wait

Nkunku : could be decent but is a wait and see with a new coach

Ive tried to pick team full of players who are well rested, not back late to preseason, and have decent fixtures to start. Plan to rotate Hall / Muniz / CHO

My only exception to this is Gordon, due to him having the best week 1 fixture, and i may not got with him if Rashford is playing the pre season for United , Gordon will also be late back and nearly joined liverpool few weeks back

      Sanchez or Henderson
Saliba (Prefer White if i go Rashford), Porro, Hall, Gvardiol
      Son Odegaard Gordon CHO
      Isak (c) Haaland

Subs 4mil Muniz , Faes, Winks

          Thats not what i meant

Its coming back late, missing the pre-season matches, Newcastle will have probably Hall starting left back so he will miss gametime to buildup in game relationship with him

Also Barnes will have games in pre-season to build up fitness and most likley will get 30min off the bench (probably for Gordon) week 1, as Gordon will not be rushed into playing 90min week 1

Possibly Newcastle and/or City. Pretty sure I'll start with Isak & Gordon + maybe Pope, or Livramento if Trippier leaves. Could end up with Haaland, Foden & Gvardiol but will see how Foden looks in later friendlies and maybe axe Gvardiol if it seems like he's put in a more conservative role.

How's it going everyone? Listened to and read a lot about the new BPS, some good stuff out there, particularly Black Box's recent pod. Here are some thoughts - would be interested to hear what you think...

I understand why people are taking money out of defence and keepers (as I, like many others, have done recently) with these changes in mind but I wonder if these changes might actually end up getting us to spend a little more in some cases?

Goalkeepers for example. Keepers who make saves but concede will lose out, so your busy 4.5s from lower-table teams won't score as many points as in previous seasons. So rather than just forgetting about keepers and going ultra cheap, is there an argument that clean sheets become even more valuable and it could be worth investing in top-six keepers?

Similarly for defenders? If clean sheets are scarcer, do we spend a bit more to buy into top-six defences with more chance of keeping clean sheets? Or spend more on those defenders with attacking potential?

I haven't made up my mind yet. The way the pricing is done, a cheap defence is appealing, but this BPS change has got me thinking. What do you reckon?

This is one side effect that I hadn't considered.

If clean sheets are more valuable, then there should be a bigger gap between the top defenders/GKs and the low priced ones even though the overall scoring is lower.

Perhaps the key is to get the cheapest CB starters from good defenses. Players like VdV, Konate, Timber etc. Interesting to think about.

I think people are over reacting on the bonus points

The attacking full backs will still get attacking returns, and even if there is a slight reduction in the overall bps for them, id wager the number of cleansheets will slightly move back up to the mean to counter weigh this.

So essentially similar scoring to previous years

Honestly think people are looking at this a bit backwards. If anything it has made me consider a cheap defence even less, as you're unlikely to get your 4.5 nailed talisman in the BAPs even if they do keep a clean sheet.

My main targets have always been defenders with the goal/assist potential. Even if that means paying a premium (TAA/Gabriel/Porro) etc.. This has not changed with the change to bonus points.

I agree, but again cant understand why White is consistently ignored, he is a elite now as an attacking full back.

Yeah agree on White. Only that Gabriel is 0.5 less and a much bigger goal threat.

Indeed. I think the difference between the highest scoring defenders and the rest this season could be even greater. So you may need to pay a premium - and picking the right one could be tricky - but I think it could pay off handsomely.

People dismissing the loss of bonus points from GK + DEFs seem to be missing the point. These bonus points don't just disappear, they go to attacking players who have lots of shots on target and dribbles. It makes sense to focus maximum budget on getting as many of these players as possible. Why wouldn't you want seven players who could all potentially score 40+ bonus points each? Especially when there will be multiple £4.5m players with similar value to White/Porro.

£4.5 defenders who chip in with 2 or 3 goals per season playing for clubs who keep lots of clean-sheets (and concede few shots on target) will be the golden enablers this year.

Still trying to iron out the finer details but I'm locked in on Salah and Haaland.

    4.5 4.0

    Salah Gordon Eze Nkunku (4.5)
    Haaland Isak Muniz

      It's good for a Salah/Haaland draft.

I'm not too worried about a lack of Arsenal at the beginning.

Arsenal only managed one CS in the first 4 games last season, kept a CS vs Palace and conceded against Fulham, Forest and MU.

    On this atm.

That 6.5m mid slot is absolutely all over the place. No idea who to go for. I've had Gibbs-White, Johnson, Nkunku, Bailey, Hudson-Odoi all in there. Hopefully there's more clarity from pre-season to help with that decision.

    Sanchez 4.0
    Gvardiol Maatsen Andersen Mykolenko Barco
    Palmer Foden Johnson Rogers Winks
    Haaland Havertz Isak

Starting with Nkunku and Palmer is difficult to justify with City at home first game. But for the long term it could well be the best play.

Is Johnson nailed? He underperformed massively last season. He could be a great option too. Or is he just a bad finisher?

            • 15 Years

That underperformance was the same output as Morgan Gibbs-White's return of 5g, 12a.

He also had the highest non-pen xGI of all the mids under 6.5m at 14.65 (using FPL's xGI metric)

But yes, he hugely underperformed his xG which was 10.36 and he got only 5 goals. Could just be a rubbish finisher but it's a roll of the dice for a couple weeks and we know Spurs are always going to be attacking.

    2. luk46

tricky price point, I think Nkunku is generally the best if he gets regular starts straight away… I also like the other 3 you mentioned, Szoboszlai, Kudus, Garnacho might become options at some point too

        • Fantasy Football Scout Member

The 3 you mentioned I won't start with (Kudus - fixtures, Szobo - Pool uncertainty, Garnacho - poor historic output) but indeed they're on the watch list. Could become good later.

I'm thinking Johnson atm for 2 games - lei EVE. And then might go to Nkunku in GW3. This only wouldn't work if Nkunku scores against City and gets a price rise. If he scores in GW2 I'll just move early I think. But it's a decent bet on Johnson doing well for the first 2 games.

I get situations where I have 2FT and no compelling transfers to make, so I use one to tweak but would let it roll if I could.

This rule would enable you to say, make a transfer every other GW and have 5 for GW9. You can then use them for a mini-WC, or bank some for an injury crisis or BGW.
