Fantasy Football Scout are pleased to announce the seventh instalment of the open-to-all, free-to-enter Paddy Power Cup competition.

Organised and run by contributors “Akers” and “Superior Being”, this is your chance to join our previous winners – donnellyc, Jonty, Goonerdave, Ninja_Fit_Saints, sleepingmaster and reigning champion Mch – in our hall of fame. For full details on how to enter, when it starts and the prizes on offer, read on…

We’re changing the format of our cup tournaments this season – instead of three cup competitions that overlap, we’ll be running this first Paddy Power Cup, the Members Cup and then a first Fantasy Football Scout Shield. This final tournament will take place over the final four Gameweeks of the season and includes just 16 teams – the Quarter-Finalists from both the Paddy Power and the Members Cup. There’s therefore extra incentive to enter and do well in our first two tournaments.

Read on for details on the Paddy Power cup but, if you’re a veteran, you can go straight here to make your entry.

What is the Paddy Power Cup?

The Paddy Power Cup is our version of the Fantasy Premier League’s Fantasy Cup game. Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores). In the event of a tie, the Manager highest in the overall standing will progress.

When does it start?

The qualifying round takes place in Gameweek 10 but you can enter after the Gameweek is played out. All entries received before Monday November 5 will be entered into the qualifying round. In this first cup competition we will have 1024 qualifiers for the first round – those 1018 (plus 6 previous winners who earn a bye) with the top scores in Gameweek 10 will progress to the first round proper to be played in Gameweek 11. Again, FPL standing will decide who progresses in the event of tied positions.

How do I enter?

Simply fill out the entry form here. You will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry. You can also check that you are entered via this list.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the qualifying round will be published on Tuesday November 6

What is the Gameweek Schedule

Each round of the Paddy Power Cup will be played out over the following schedule:

  • Qualifying – Gameweek 10
  • Round 1 – 1024 teams – Gameweek 11
  • Round 2 – 512 teams – Gameweek 12
  • Round 3 – 256 teams – Gameweek 13
  • Gameweek 14 – Break
  • Round 4 – 128 teams – Gameweek 15
  • Round 5 – 64 teams – Gameweek 16
  • Round 6 – 32 teams – Gameweek 17
  • Round 7 – 16 teams – Gameweek 18
  • Gameweek 19 – Break
  • Quarter-Finals – 8 teams – Gameweek 20
  • Gameweek 21 – Break
  • Semi-Finals – 4 teams – Gameweek 22
  • The Final – 2 teams – Gameweek 23

When are the fixtures released?

The fixture list for each round will be published a day or two before each Gameweek deadline.

Are there prizes?

Sponsors Paddy Power are supplying the competition with some great prizes and we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down as follows:

Winner – £100 worth of free bets. £100 Amazon Voucher
Runner-up – £50 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £25 Amazon Voucher

In addition, the Quarter-Finalists from this tournament will gain entry to the Fantasy Football Scout Shield where they will play the eight Quarter-Finalists from this season’s Members Cup. Should any team qualify for the Shield from both Cup tournaments, then the highest scoring losing team from the last sixteen of either cup will gain entry to complete the FFS Shield entries.

Cup Entrants will need a Paddy Power account and be aged 18 or over to be eligible for some of the above prizes. Prizes are also subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. You can, of course, enter without being over 18 and without a Paddy Power account but will not be eligible for the free bet prizes.

If you’ve yet to register a Paddy Power account, then you can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register and bet £10.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

What transfers to make with this squad, currently used 1 FT but willing to take a hit:

    Foster - Rudd

    Jenkinson - Ivanovic - Demel - Rafael - Huth

Kacaniklic - Ben Arfa - Pienaar - Lennon - Nolan

Aguero - Van Persie - Ba

whats in your bank? You need 2 keepers that play, can't rely on Foster every week. Jenkinson is out of the picture now Sagna is back. Ivan banned. Demel injured. Kaca benched. You've got too much invested up top. You need Mata.

Only 0.2 in the bank, was thinking of adding Begovic next week seeing as Foster has Southampton at home. Ivanovic is not banned he serves it in the cup game this week, Demel is returning but his fixtures along with Nolan don't look too good. What transfers shall I make?

I presume this would be for Santi?

Tight one. if you have nothing better to do with your transfer, then fine.

Definitely not worth a hit for that kind of sideways switch, unless there's a dramatic fixture shift.

The only players I want rid of are Clyne, Demel and Kaca...

I have two transfers and was going to downgrade either Gerrard or Cazorla to Michu and use the money to upgrade Kaca and Demel but can't bring myself to get rid of Gerrard or Cazorla...

Is there really anything worth doing to just lose Kaca and/or Demel? Thought not... 😐

may as well keep all 3. Demel is a good pick, Clyne is cheap bench fodder, same with Kaca. They are the sort of players you only use transfers on if you are upgrading

If you want to keep Gerrard and Caz you might as well just save it.

Disagree. There's still over 10 weeks left until the wildcard, and Clyne is too rubbish to sit on the bench all that time.

Look at the stats, he isn't a threatening attacking player and he plays for Southampton.

Kaca also worth a sub out if you can get it for a free. Demel is a perfectly decent pick, stick with him.

No way you should be getting rid of Nobel and keeping Clyne.

I said it already on this page - he plays for Southampton, and look at the stats, he has very little attacking threat. Demel can't be far off a return.

        +1

I'm currently working on a blog piece related to this and why it smacks of hypocrisy for Chelsea fans to be moaning about yesterday given the number of key decisions in United/Chelsea games that have either gone against United or for Chelsea in the last 5 years. One of the most obvious is the 'goal' that Drogba scored at OT 3 years ago, when he was so far offside it made Hernandez look like he was in his own half when he scored yesterday.

I realise I'm being a bit pedantic, but as the OP proves when it comes to refereeing decisions people seem to have long memories when it comes to those that go United's way and short memories for all others. It's merely intended to prove that referees are not 'in United's back pocket' but are just human and make mistakes the same as everyone else.

do what i did, get Lennon instead. A big risk but it could pay off, he is more nailed on and more threatening than Forehead. he should have got the assist for a Defoe goal yesterday instead of Defoe for Dempsey, so frustrating it didn't go in.

with rvp and aguero in your team it is impossilbe to have more than 2 mids that cost more than 9 million so its either mata or caz out for bale. its really a coin toss on who is best going forward. mata has the better fixture this week and maybe the the 2 after that look better for mata.

Can anyone give me some reassurance I'm doing the right things with my wildcard please?

I'm keeping players like Caz, Pienaar, Michu, Tevez, RVP, Baines - because I bought them all cheaper than they are now, so don't want to lose all that value (some may go at the end of the week, but for now I don't want to accidentally drop them then wish I hadn't)

Then I've brought in: Defore, Caulker, McCarthy, Baird, Hughes, Sterling, Mata and Defore

In the hope that I get some price rises - even though I don't really want any of those in my final draft.

I've based that on this http://www.fiso.co.uk/crackthecode.php - and will keep checking throughout the week.

Am I hoping for prices of 0.2 to give me 0.1 of extra value on each? If so, seems unlikely I'll get any of those - other than maybe Juan.

Any words of Andre Wisdom anyone can give me on this - would be greatly appreciated. I hit WC after a Sunday of whiskey hangover and smashing bricks with a sledgehammer - I didn't really know what I was doing then and I still don't now...

Ok, so RVP and Lambert to Aguero (c) and Ba backfired somewhat.

I feel in the long run I need Mata and Bale but currently have Hazard and Cazorla. So short term, which option is best?

    A) Hazard and Bale
    B) Mata and Cazorla
    C) Hazard and Mata

    Cheers

so can any help me make changes to my starting 11.
    was thinking...
    begovic

Oh my word, Obertan?! Ditch him for a start! Along with tierney and piazon, and plau 343, def returns are hard to come by, get a better mf option in there and theres better points potebtial. Also, thay top.line is very heavy. Not sure if aguero is worth the cash given other players acoring just as regularly and more.

In other words, use your wc...

This may sound crazy to everyone, but I'm actually hesitating over whether or not to do Aguero ➡ RVP.
I can just about afford it, but then I'll have no money to sort my defense out (Davies, Demel, Saylor)
I know everyone says he's a must, but is he really worth 13.4m?

Too much value in Michu, Pienaar. Gotta leave one of Bale, Mata, Cazorla out.

Too much value in Tevez, Berba, Ba, Giroud (gotta keep the faith). Leaves me with 100M£ to spend on defence.

Got Baines, Verm, Rafa/Iva. Too much money, too much value.
