Fantasy Football Scout are pleased to announce the seventh instalment of the open-to-all, free-to-enter Paddy Power Cup competition.

Organised and run by contributors “Akers” and “Superior Being”, this is your chance to join our previous winners – donnellyc, Jonty, Goonerdave, Ninja_Fit_Saints, sleepingmaster and reigning champion Mch – in our hall of fame. For full details on how to enter, when it starts and the prizes on offer, read on…

We’re changing the format of our cup tournaments this season – instead of three cup competitions that overlap, we’ll be running this first Paddy Power Cup, the Members Cup and then a first Fantasy Football Scout Shield. This final tournament will take place over the final four Gameweeks of the season and includes just 16 teams – the Quarter-Finalists from both the Paddy Power and the Members Cup. There’s therefore extra incentive to enter and do well in our first two tournaments.

Read on for details on the Paddy Power cup but, if you’re a veteran, you can go straight here to make your entry.

What is the Paddy Power Cup?

The Paddy Power Cup is our version of the Fantasy Premier League’s Fantasy Cup game. Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores). In the event of a tie, the Manager highest in the overall standing will progress.

When does it start?

The qualifying round takes place in Gameweek 10 but you can enter after the Gameweek is played out. All entries received before Monday November 5 will be entered into the qualifying round. In this first cup competition we will have 1024 qualifiers for the first round – those 1018 (plus 6 previous winners who earn a bye) with the top scores in Gameweek 10 will progress to the first round proper to be played in Gameweek 11. Again, FPL standing will decide who progresses in the event of tied positions.

How do I enter?

Simply fill out the entry form here. You will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry. You can also check that you are entered via this list.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the qualifying round will be published on Tuesday November 6

What is the Gameweek Schedule

Each round of the Paddy Power Cup will be played out over the following schedule:

  • Qualifying – Gameweek 10
  • Round 1 – 1024 teams – Gameweek 11
  • Round 2 – 512 teams – Gameweek 12
  • Round 3 – 256 teams – Gameweek 13
  • Gameweek 14 – Break
  • Round 4 – 128 teams – Gameweek 15
  • Round 5 – 64 teams – Gameweek 16
  • Round 6 – 32 teams – Gameweek 17
  • Round 7 – 16 teams – Gameweek 18
  • Gameweek 19 – Break
  • Quarter-Finals – 8 teams – Gameweek 20
  • Gameweek 21 – Break
  • Semi-Finals – 4 teams – Gameweek 22
  • The Final – 2 teams – Gameweek 23

When are the fixtures released?

The fixture list for each round will be published a day or two before each Gameweek deadline.

Are there prizes?

Sponsors Paddy Power are supplying the competition with some great prizes and we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down as follows:

Winner – £100 worth of free bets. £100 Amazon Voucher
Runner-up – £50 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £25 Amazon Voucher

In addition, the Quarter-Finalists from this tournament will gain entry to the Fantasy Football Scout Shield where they will play the eight Quarter-Finalists from this season’s Members Cup. Should any team qualify for the Shield from both Cup tournaments, then the highest scoring losing team from the last sixteen of either cup will gain entry to complete the FFS Shield entries.

Cup Entrants will need a Paddy Power account and be aged 18 or over to be eligible for some of the above prizes. Prizes are also subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. You can, of course, enter without being over 18 and without a Paddy Power account but will not be eligible for the free bet prizes.

If you’ve yet to register a Paddy Power account, then you can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register and bet £10.

Want to ship Ben Arfa, he's been so quiet since I brought him in.

So, would you recommend Bale or Mata? Which is the best option?

    Already have Cazorla.

Toss a coin, agree you should ship Ben Arfa. I had him and was disappointed with his involvement. Doesn't see enough of the ball. With Ba firing on all cylinders you would expect him to have returned many more assists

but you don't need Mata AND Hazard. Mata, Bale and Mich + Sterling in mid is great, just leaves HBA to sort out.

Pienaar, Morrison or Lallana would all be great replacements

      Carroll? Is that you?

In the end your attacking potential is set by your team, particularly if you're a supplier. Stoke in terms of attacking potential would be close to relegation.

I would think so. City coverage + some attacking potential at 5.7 isn't bad. Although Clichy is more nailed on if you're willing to spend that extra 0.1.

Considering Richards is out for 6-8, you're probably right.

The attack potential statistics are interesting though. Clichy seems to have made more key passes than Zab, but Zab has more shots on goal than Clichy.

Slightly surprising but not totally off the wall, remember zabaleta scoring on the final day last year? I think. He's not just a crosser, he does cut inside a lot and play with the wide right mid, often Silva or Milner. That gives him shots from the angle.

Nice looking at the stats btw, hope to see you post more often!

It amuses me, previous weeks, the site flooded with opinions that RVP at his price wasn't value for money, some even questioned his ability as a footballer, so many got rid. This week its about who good and essential he is, an how to get him in, or in many cases back in. Its a fickle fantasy football world we live in.

13.5 was certainly expensive for a striker many thought would not be taking penalties [Rooney] and would be rested against Stoke after INTL break followed by games against Chelsea and Arsenal.

Of course, it hasn't turned out that way - but Tevez and Ba have scored the same amount of points over the season as RVP - for 4m and 5m cheaper, respectively, and though the Captain's Armband argument is definitely there - it's certainly a risk by many RVP owners to captain him AT Chelsea this past weekend - though for the Captain's Argument going forward alone - he may just do it...

As I got him and Tevez early was fortunate, the point I'm making was because of his price many were seeking and offering negatives regards his potential. How much evidence does he have to provide regards his ability. Its differant to say I would love to have him, but can't afford him. The strikers you mentioned have as you correctly pointed out have delivered the same points tally, I doubt however that will be the case at the end of the season, assuming of course he remains injury free.

I've had him since Rooney got injured, no plans to sell, I captained him v Chelsea, and see him as THE captain choice for the next 5 to 6 weeks

He has delivered returns in EVERY game he has started, will be on pens and some set-pieces.

He may be worth 13.5, but there is a reason for that. Yes other players may outscore him in any given week, but over the course of the season I expect to see him once again at the top of the points table. Right now the only player who can match his FPL consistency is Tevez

Has there been any news on Ba or Berba since the weekend? Any informed opinions from you guys? Would like to keep both if possible as I have more important stuff to attend to. Like finding space for Bale

So Bale will not go up in price today, then? And Demel will surely be nailed on when he returns?

    Good.

I have Cazorla from GW1 and I am not sure anymore that he is a good Fantasy pick!!!!
He is a great player but he is not from fantasy angle, not a good capitan material cause you never know (they gave 6 goals to Southampton and he had 2pts, easy games at home he finish with 2 ptas also...). Yes, he will have 8-10 pts somethimes but there is a more consistent players now for same price or less....

    Discuss...

P.S. I am planing to sell him for Bale or Mata....
P.S.S. Also, what is general opinion here of Ben Arfa...

I've had him since GW1 also and I am going to hold out for the brilliant fixtures coming up. If Arsenal come good then he has great potential, his stats are great and if he still doesn't impress after the next 2 home games it's an easy switch to Bale/Silva

The scout tweets say pardew says he doesn't know if BA will start this week. Any news on berb? The lack of ness and his failing to mention it when asked about his strikers makes me think he's fine...

Last night's match confirmed the suspicion that in tough matches Rooney will play midfield and RVP striker. More specifically, in a 4-4-1-1 RVP is the only out and out striker. It's only in the diamond that they rotate positions so often and SAF might have turned away for now.

They don't have any tough matches after Arsenal for ages though. Far from it.

Yep, what I'm trying to say is that the real problem for returns is Rooney playing deeper in the 4-4-1-1 and SAF may simply stick with that against weak teams if it's working. Especially with kagawa out who suits the diamond.

I think so. He offers peace of mind knowing he will play every match for 90 minutes. He's in good form and is fixture proof. One cloud is that he is on 4 yellows and is bound to pick up 5th yellow soon.

Hey lads, getting stung badly every week by having no Chelsea coverage. Think HBA may have to be the one to go for Mata but have 0.0 in the bank so need to find funds elsewhere.

    A. Lambert ---> Pog
    B Baines -----> Zabaleta
    C No transfer

Team is linked. It would be for a 4 point hit though...

Any other way you could get Mata? Pog isn't really a great option and Baines is a season keeper for me.

I wouldn't usually but Reading's fixtures are good. Desperate times seeing as Lambert is primed to score.

Cazorla to Mata, job done.Do not sell Ivanovic, will get you attacking points and better CS return when Terry is back. But you'll probably be going Ben Arfa and AN Other to Bale plus sooner or later.
