The FFS Paddy Power Cup VII – Entry Now Open

Fantasy Football Scout are pleased to announce the seventh instalment of the open-to-all, free-to-enter Paddy Power Cup competition.

Organised and run by contributors “Akers” and “Superior Being”, this is your chance to join our previous winners – donnellyc, Jonty, Goonerdave, Ninja_Fit_Saints, sleepingmaster and reigning champion Mch – in our hall of fame. For full details on how to enter, when it starts and the prizes on offer, read on…

We’re changing the format of our cup tournaments this season – instead of three cup competitions that overlap, we’ll be running this first Paddy Power Cup, the Members Cup and then a first Fantasy Football Scout Shield. This final tournament will take place over the final four Gameweeks of the season and includes just 16 teams – the Quarter-Finalists from both the Paddy Power and the Members Cup. There’s therefore extra incentive to enter and do well in our first two tournaments.

Read on for details on the Paddy Power cup but, if you’re a veteran, you can go straight here to make your entry.

What is the Paddy Power Cup?

The Paddy Power Cup is our version of the Fantasy Premier League’s Fantasy Cup game. Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores). In the event of a tie, the Manager highest in the overall standing will progress.

When does it start?

The qualifying round takes place in Gameweek 10 but you can enter after the Gameweek is played out. All entries received before Monday November 5 will be entered into the qualifying round. In this first cup competition we will have 1024 qualifiers for the first round – those 1018 (plus 6 previous winners who earn a bye) with the top scores in Gameweek 10 will progress to the first round proper to be played in Gameweek 11. Again, FPL standing will decide who progresses in the event of tied positions.

How do I enter?

Simply fill out the entry form here. You will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry. You can also check that you are entered via this list.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the qualifying round will be published on Tuesday November 6

What is the Gameweek Schedule

Each round of the Paddy Power Cup will be played out over the following schedule:

Round 1 – 1024 teams – Gameweek 11
Round 2 – 512 teams – Gameweek 12
Round 3 – 256 teams – Gameweek 13
Gameweek 14 – Break
Round 4 – 128 teams – Gameweek 15
Round 5 – 64 teams – Gameweek 16
Round 6 – 32 teams – Gameweek 17
Round 7 – 16 teams – Gameweek 18
Gameweek 19 – Break
Quarter-Finals – 8 teams – Gameweek 20
Gameweek 21 – Break
Semi-Finals – 4 teams – Gameweek 22
The Final – 2 teams – Gameweek 23

When are the fixtures released?

The fixture list for each round will be published a day or two before each Gameweek deadline.

Are there prizes?

Sponsors Paddy Power are supplying the competition with some great prizes and we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down as follows:

Winner – £100 worth of free bets. £100 Amazon Voucher
Runner-up – £50 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £25 Amazon Voucher

In addition, the Quarter-Finalists from this tournament will gain entry to the Fantasy Football Scout Shield where they will play the eight Quarter-Finalists from this season’s Members Cup. Should any team qualify for the Shield from both Cup tournaments, then the highest scoring losing team from the last sixteen of either cup will gain entry to complete the FFS Shield entries.

Cup Entrants will need a Paddy Power account and be aged 18 or over to be eligible for some of the above prizes. Prizes are also subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. You can, of course, enter without being over 18 and without a Paddy Power account but will not be eligible for the free bet prizes.

If you’ve yet to register a Paddy Power account, then you can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register and bet £10.

So, I have 0.0m in the bank, a terrible bench and an injury to Ba - which of these 4 options looks the best?

a) Bench Ba, save the transfer and play 4-4-2 this week with Clyne(wba)

b) Transfer Ba -> Defoe for a one week gamble (then Defoe probably -> Jelavic or back to Ba (if fit) in GW11)

c) Transfer Santi & Ba -> Pienaar & Tevez for a hit. This also leaves enough in the bank for Clyne -> Sagna in GW11 (if I make the move before Tevez rises this morning!)

      I see what your saying but transferring to Defoe for one week then to someone else afterwards is just chasing points... put it this way the best outcome is far outweighed by the prospect for this to fail. If you can put up with Clyne scoring 1-2 points for a week or 2 then in a fortnight you'll have 2 FTs and can make your mind up about Ba then.

        I have Santi and Ba and was Looking some combination of a 5.0 to 5.5 midfielder to Rooney. Which would give me Rooney Aguero Berbs.
        Also could go Santi>Fellaini and Aguero>RVP but I have Berbs and Ba and with Santi going down and Fellaini going up that move may become out of reach.

  Again if Berbatov is worse off then you would need another set of transfer options. Also as you have Bale don't bother with Defoe especially as their fixtures get tough. Tevez is infinitely the better option.

      A few of us will be in trouble. Berb did alright because he had a pain killing injection. Do you think he will get one everyday before training? Jol's comments about not knowing his forward line also indicate that they may not need Berb so it would then be prudent to allow him recovery time from a suspected broken rib.

        Yeah your last sentence says it. I have no problem if one of them or even both of them are out for one game. It would take one of them to be out for a while before I sell them. I really like the RVP, Ba, Berb forward line and would hate to break it up. Tevez is a very able 4th striker though.

    It seems to be the prudent options. Too many unknowns to make a snap decision now as AB said on the previous page. We could only end up digging ourselves a bigger hole if we sell one of Berbs or Ba without further info on the extent of their injuries.

      OK take an example, bale for instance, at the start of the season he started at 9.5m. lots of people had him to begin with but he was'nt doing well, so people got rid, he then fell in price to 9.3. His form then turned and became a viable option. If u snap him up at that point he makes a ton for you. Also the more he rises the more difficult it is for poeple who dont have him to bring him in

        There will be days where they win 1-nil and Ramires sets up Torres, and there will be days where they win 4-nil and Oscar and Hazard are rested, Mata gets one assist and no goals, and he has to use 2 subs who are god knows what/who.
        
        Then again.........there will be 6-nils and all three of them could be in double figures.
        
        It wont work out in the long run imho

    Yes its lacking Bale , however i dont want to bring him in just for one week , he a few horrid fixtures after that , Carzola on the other hand haas very good fixtures after next week . I may even bench him this week and Play Sterling instead.
    Im thinking Sagna is good time to bring him n as i have to make one transfer , and again , arsenal good fixtures , while some of my other defenders dont , so he be useful

        I think that's just because we're not great at knowing what the "tough" fixtures are. The last 3 weeks, Chelsea have played Norwich, Spurs, and United. We think "Oh Spurs and United, those are good teams," even though both of their defenses have been below average. Fixtures over form.
