634x258 Suspensions

A busy weekend on the suspension tightrope has seen the eight residents of the previous Gameweek joined by seven new additions. With the loss of two unfortunate souls to suspension, we’re left with a Hallowe’en worthy band of 13 trick or treaters to tread carefully through Gameweek 10.

If you’ve been following the various Scout outlets, such as the handy sidebar widget, the detailed data of the members area or even stumbled across my twitter feed (hashtag: #suspensiontightrope), then you’ll know much of this already, but read on for the disciplinary highlights that the weekend had to offer…

Despite the upturn in goalscoring accuracy for Luis Suárez this season and his steady stream of Fantasy points, the disciplinary cloud is never far from the Uruguayan. A fourth yellow card of the campaign, picked up in the Merseyside derby (for the controversial foul on Sylvain Distin) adds him to our rogues gallery this week, just one more booking from a single match ban. Theoretically, a card received in the midweek cup tie against Swansea would therefore see Suárez suspended for the next league game (home to Newcastle).

Highlighted in the article last week, with his fourth caution collected in Gameweek 8, many thought a tactical booking for Michu was a likely occurrence last weekend but, perhaps with a higher moral regard for these things, the Spaniard completed the game untarnished and, as with Suárez, will still be available for the cup game at Anfield.

Fellow tightrope mainstay Marouane Fellaini is also present and correct on the graphic this week as he negotiated that fiery derby date unscathed and continues his Damoclean adventure into Gameweek 10. No cup game to complicate matters for the flocculent Belgian means he’ll definitely be playing ‘under the sword’ as Everton visit Craven Cottage next weekend.

Finally, West Ham defender and Fantasy favourite Winston Reid is the last name picked out from the tainted hordes. His quarter of a million ownership now also face an anxious wait to see when his fifth booking will arrive, bringing with it the customary ban – again no cup exploits for The Hammers to interfere.

On to the suspensions and we’ve seen a flurry of those this week, too. Angel Rangel and James McArthur (originally missed by Opta, but since corrected) have both falled from the high wire this week with their fifth yellow cards, jointly winning the tightrope race conveniently in time to serve out their single match suspension in the midweek Capital One Cup ties.

Also sitting out the handy cup fixtures are Branislav Ivanovic (one match ban for his dismissal in denying a goalscoring opportunity), Fernando Torres and Aston Villa’s Joe Bennett (both dismissed for two cautions resulting in a one match ban),

The longer term absentees, Stéphane M’Bia (first match of three), Cheick Tioté (second match of three) and John Terry (last of a four match ban) will all remain suspended for the upcoming return to league action.

As always, these bans can be found in our Injuries and Bans table. We’ll be updating the tightrope widget every week from this point on, and bringing you our regular article summing up the new arrivals and the suspensions being served.

After agonising an absurd amount of time over a possible torres, cazorla, ba transfer, I've decided to start freeing up the cash tactic by opting for Michu > Sterling

    Starting X! for next week:
    Foster
    Baines Vertong Riise
    Bale(c) Sterling Cazorla Pienaar
    Torres(vc) Jelavic Ba

Subs: Fed | Clyne, Maloney, Reid

    Good to go?

ooo, I'm not sure about that...Michu is pretty much a striker now and is having lots of chances still

I'm downgrading to eventually get in RVP...

Michu is quite a costly risk with tough fixtures coming up, I'll probably regret the transfer no doubt!

No chance we get more info on Ba before Sterling's price goes up (tomorrow prob)?

I have money for Berba => Ba next week, but if he's out 3 weeks or more, I could just use the cash and do Guthrie => Sterling now.

Im getting in Silva as soon as he is fit (unless Valencia/Young look like getting a good run of starts).

Mata due to price difference. Still prefer Silva to either though.

Well Torres has gone guys. Had to sell at 9.9 didn’t want to lose more value. Got Pog in for the bench.

So with second free got all week to decide on bringing in Bale, or Haz back for my new 3-5-2 system. Mata and Haz sounds good and keeps my Chels double attack, though Bale has the fixture this week but Chels could still muller Swnasea away. Spurs away to City next week though is edging me to Haz….just hoping he might drop 0.1 by the weekend.

Swansea will not get hammered at home, look what they did at the Etihad!

Bale is better than Hazard and is good enough to produce against the top teams.

Easy fixtures. The 3 hard games you've played: Utd - lost. Spurs - they were missing their two best players, Arsenal - had Gerv upfront.

Chewls are flattering to deceive massively. With all that attacking talent your LB and RB are massively exposed.

Funny how much you're toys came out the pram with that game. Offside was split second, they can go either way. Ivan was blatant red. Torres went down exactly like Young did when he got chastised by your mob, and should have been off first half anyway.

I’ve already started loading my music into Google Music (got a US account – UK goes live on the 13th November) ready for when I get my N7.

Google have intentionally lowballed these prices hoping that the top end specs of the devices and those debating whether to get the iP5 will steer their way.

You can get a Nexus 4 and Nexus 10 for the same amount as an iPhone!!! That’s ridiculous.

I know you’re paying a premium for what is a top end product like the iP5, but the 4 and 10 aren’t shabby devices either so fairplay to Google.

Nah I don't think so. Every United game looks high scoring to me. Sure Arsenal have tightened up a lot this year but its not as if they have a stronger defence than Chelsea, and look what happened last match! Can see a 4-2 or something similar game.

looking at The Beard and Shirtless' teams, how are we feeling about the old 3-5-2 instead of 3-4-3?

i played 3-5-2 for most of last season without a second thought. now that there is so many midfield options and so many rotating forwards, is it time to switch?

Monitor the striker situation. If one or both are out bring in Fletcher and/or Jelavic.

If Ba and Berb are both fit, definately bank one transfer and use the other to do Hughes to Cameron. Or Hughes to Gorkss, with a view to upgrading Guthrie next week.

Dunno about that. Nani is ridiculously inconsistent. When TonyV is firing he's a machine week in week out.

Rafael (had him from gw1) - Baines - clyne - baird - Bennet

    Sterling - Mata - Bale - Pienaar - Gera

    RVP - BA- Berba

pretty generic... and Im not so sure about the defence, or gera for that matter.

That only means Arsenal is going to fare horribly from now on.
They've already been through the teams that don't score.

Think you should read the fixture list first!

It won't be this good forever, but it's not to be ignored.

Should actually say the teams that DIDN'T score as well. The big teams have conceded to most of the sides we kept cleanies against.

Quick question: which would you prefer?

    a) Suarez + Michu
    b) Berbatov + Mata

      b) for sure. Look at it logically - chelsea & fulham combined will more than likely outscore pool & swansea come the end of the season. Plus berbs has pens & mata set pieces.
