634x258 Suspensions

A busy weekend on the suspension tightrope has seen the eight residents of the previous Gameweek joined by seven new additions. With the loss of two unfortunate souls to suspension, we’re left with a Hallowe’en worthy band of 13 trick or treaters to tread carefully through Gameweek 10.

If you’ve been following the various Scout outlets, such as the handy sidebar widget, the detailed data of the members area or even stumbled across my twitter feed (hashtag: #suspensiontightrope), then you’ll know much of this already, but read on for the disciplinary highlights that the weekend had to offer…

Despite the upturn in goalscoring accuracy for Luis Suárez this season and his steady stream of Fantasy points, the disciplinary cloud is never far from the Uruguayan. A fourth yellow card of the campaign, picked up in the Merseyside derby (for the controversial foul on Sylvain Distin) adds him to our rogues gallery this week, just one more booking from a single match ban. Theoretically, a card received in the midweek cup tie against Swansea would therefore see Suárez suspended for the next league game (home to Newcastle).

Highlighted in the article last week, with his fourth caution collected in Gameweek 8, many thought a tactical booking for Michu was a likely occurrence last weekend but, perhaps with a higher moral regard for these things, the Spaniard completed the game untarnished and, as with Suárez, will still be available for the cup game at Anfield.

Fellow tightrope mainstay Marouane Fellaini is also present and correct on the graphic this week as he negotiated that fiery derby date unscathed and continues his Damoclean adventure into Gameweek 10. No cup game to complicate matters for the flocculent Belgian means he’ll definitely be playing ‘under the sword’ as Everton visit Craven Cottage next weekend.

Finally, West Ham defender and Fantasy favourite Winston Reid is the last name picked out from the tainted hordes. His quarter of a million ownership now also face an anxious wait to see when his fifth booking will arrive, bringing with it the customary ban – again no cup exploits for The Hammers to interfere.

On to the suspensions and we’ve seen a flurry of those this week, too. Angel Rangel and James McArthur (originally missed by Opta, but since corrected) have both falled from the high wire this week with their fifth yellow cards, jointly winning the tightrope race conveniently in time to serve out their single match suspension in the midweek Capital One Cup ties.

Also sitting out the handy cup fixtures are Branislav Ivanovic (one match ban for his dismissal in denying a goalscoring opportunity), Fernando Torres and Aston Villa’s Joe Bennett (both dismissed for two cautions resulting in a one match ban),

The longer term absentees, Stéphane M’Bia (first match of three), Cheick Tioté (second match of three) and John Terry (last of a four match ban) will all remain suspended for the upcoming return to league action.

As always, these bans can be found in our Injuries and Bans table. We’ll be updating the tightrope widget every week from this point on, and bringing you our regular article summing up the new arrivals and the suspensions being served.

Due to Mata's evident price rise, I will be forced to make the transfers today. Ba+Berba+S.Taylor will all remain in the team. Bad idea?

Seen plenty of talk about people considering doubling up on Man Utd's attack, but how about doubling up on defence with Rafael and Evans?

With their fixtures they will surely start to keep a few clean sheets, and both offer attacking threat and are known to pick up the odd map or two. All this for under 12m.

    Thoughts?

Their defense has been too shakey for me to double up just yet. Plus, I'm already spending 7 million on Baines I don't want two more 6 million defenders when the cheap options from Stoke, Sunderland, and Newcastle look pretty good. Just one or the other for me.

Heres my current team after a 70 point week.
Used 2 FT to Carzola & Jenkinson > Bale & Baird

    Begovic
    Rafael Baird Baines
    Maloney Pienaar Bale Mata
    Defoe RVP Tevez

    Jussi Nolan Clyne Demel

    Just undecided on captain.

Thinking Bale at home is a safe bet or RVP. Any advice?

    Hey folks

I have 1 FT and £0.4m in the bank.

    Foster, Begovic

    Baines, Davies, Demel, Cuellar, Gorkks

    Nolan, Cazorla, Michu, Bale, Guthrie

    Ba, RVP, Aguero

Thinking of taking out Cazorla and Guthrie so if Ba doesn't play this week I have a decent sub.

    Who to bring in though?
    Valencia or Fellaini?
    And
    Sterling or Maloney?

    Thank you

so i'm having issues deciding who to play this gw. my dilemmas are to play foster or begovic, and whether to play pienaar, kightly or sterling. currently, it looks like this:

    foster
    baines, ivan, rafa
    bale, mata, pienaar, kightly
    rvp, tevez, berba
    subs: begovic, sterling, davies, demel

Ba or Tevez you mean? Depends on fitness. I reckon Ba is essential for his good run.

No sorry, it was badly worded, it was two questions:

            1) Santi or Ba?

            2) Santi or Tevez?

Because it seems to me Santi scores less.

Not sure but i know i want Santi GW11-20 for now. Tevez always has a rotation threat on his head.

    Demel > Nelsen or

    Hughes > Simpson/Saylor?

Thinking the latter as not planning on playing Demel, just concerned about price fall

Can somebody please help me figure out a plan in the next several GWs to fit Valencia in my team without compromising Mata/Baines/VP/Bale/Ba? My team is linked and I'm certain the guy will shoot up in price sooner or later and be the new Mata.

IDK, you have a nice midfield. I would keep all of them, id only consider shipping Mata 😀

:O Not getting rid of Walters? If I could somehow swap Walters for Valencia (using a route I'm content with) I'd be so damn chuffed.

How about Foster + Kolarov + Cuellar out for Begovic + Cameron + £4m defender?

Is Bardsley nailed on for Sunderland from the coming GW on? Just returned from injury.

Is Santos nailed on for Arsenal or subject to rotation?

Santos is too FAT to be able to play football!!! When Gibbs is back he should be dropped or even Verm moves to left side, Koscielcy plays CB.

Im going to go 3-5-2 this week and bench ba if hs injured as i want to avoid hits if i can.

After this GW if ba remains out im really tempted to get Kone as a replacement till ba returns.

Anyone else think Kone is good value , good differential.

Just dont have faith in obvious ones like crouch and co

    Tevez Rooney Suarez

    TO

    A) Tevez RVP Defoe
    B) Torres/Suarez RVP Berbatov
    C) Ba RVP Giroud/Podolski

Should i keep my current strikers or switch? Wildcard is active.

Not really keen on Ba as he is injured. I just can't shake the feeling Rooney's going to perform!

Ba being injured had really scuppered my plans. How
    Does the following look?

Aguero + Nolan to Jelavic + mata. Ba rather than Jel if he gets all clear in
    Next couple days.
