Denied winnings by the woodwork after Robin van Persie notched one but struck the bar against Palace, weโ€™re three Flutters down and still without a win. Nevertheless, weโ€™re turning up with another tenner this week, determined to turn the tide via another array of Scout Pickโ€™s inspired markets from Paddy Power.

Before we look at those, however, a reminder of Paddyโ€™s special odds on offer for Sundayโ€™s Manchester derby. If youโ€™ve yet to sign up for an account with Paddy, you can get exclusive enhanced 7/1 odds on a United win against City. The regular odds are 23/10 so this is a great deal for those who register new accounts ahead of Sundayโ€™s clash.

If youโ€™re an existing customer, you can still take advantage of a Paddy offer โ€“ thereโ€™s a a money back special on Sunday’s clash โ€“ if United win the game, theyโ€™ll refund any losing First Goalscorer, Last Goalscorer, Correct Score and Scorecast singles on the match.

Moving to this weekโ€™s Flutter markets, we start with the hot favourite for the Gameweek armband. Arsenalโ€™s Olivier Giroud tops our poll with 22% of the vote ahead of Liverpoolโ€™s Daniel Sturridge, with both strikers having claimed four goals in four league starts thus far. Both find a home in this weekโ€™s Picks, although weโ€™re looking to Giroud to help us prise some cash from Paddy Power. Our bookmaker friends are offering 8/1 on Giroud scoring two or more goals with an Arsenal clean sheet against visiting Stoke; weโ€™re happy to take them up on that to the tune of ยฃ3 of our stake.

As we move into the Scout Picks midfield, we find a man in form in the shape of Swanseaโ€™s Mihcu. Having notched in back-to-back matches this week, Michu makes a trip to Selhurst Park on Sunday, perhaps leggy from Europa League exploits but, nonetheless, sure to provide the key threat to Ian Hollowayโ€™s men. The Spaniard takes pride of place back in our Picks for the first time this season and Paddy have put odds of 15/2 on Michu netting a third goal in a week, with the Swans keeping a shut-out. Weโ€™ll gladly throw them another ยฃ3 of our tenner on this one.

Finally, Hatem Ben Arfa is another man in form and heavily backed going into the Gameweek. With Hull City visiting St Jamesโ€™ Park, many have already banked a third consecutive win for Alan Pardewโ€™s outfit. If that turns out to be the case, then Ben Arfa is surely set to play his part. Paddy have a Ben Arfa goal with a Newcastle shut-out at 7/1, making it our bet of the week and enough to prise the final ยฃ4 from our mitts.

Register and Bet ยฃ10 And Get ยฃ20 Free

If youโ€™re new to Paddy Power, then you can take up any of these odds and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free ยฃ20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally, of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Powerโ€™s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

On a WC. Have toyed round with different set ups all week. Having Sturridge instead of RVP makes the team look stronger, but I get a terrible sense of foreboding every time I do it. Currently on:

    Mig

Not a fan of Dawson as think his place will be under threat long term. WHU are decent defensively and Liverpool have decent fixtures which is rationale for Enrique

While I agree with you that Dawson may not hold his position all season. I think the fact he is the captain just now should ensure him starts for a while yet. For that reason he is a cheap route in to the Spurs defence.

While I like Enrique as a player and rate the Liverpool defence, I just think doubling up in defence is a risky strategy and I prefer to spread the risk.

          my current defence is:

          Mignolet

Vertonghen Ferdinand Ivanovic (Wilson | Chester)

Here is something to consider when chosing your captain this week.

Giroud and Sturridge have scored in the first 4 fixtures, with Giroud scoring the opening goal in all fixtures. Scoring 4 in a row has only been done by 8 players. Scoring 5 in a row has either not been done or only done by 2 players [read the stats earlier in the week so don't recall exactly]. Scoring the opening goal in first 5 fixtures has never been done.

So history is against these players scoring this week but never say never. It was for this reason I stayed clear and captained Walcott.

I went for Walcott because I have visions of Giroud being marked out of it by Shaw and Huth with Ozil sliding passes through to Wally in the channels....
Walcott has been getting in excellent positions in all his games so far and his overall involvement has been greater then Girouds so goals are bound to come and at minimum I think he will register an assist

Any final suggestions? Still haven't used my FT and have 0.2 in the bank.
1 FT, 0.2 in the bank.

    GK: Mignolet (Harper)
DEF: Vidic, Shaw, Koscielny (Chester) (Baker)
MID: Walcott, Lampard, HBA (C), Brady** (Ward-Prowse)
    ATT: RvP, Soldado (VC), Giroud

I have basically resigned myself to the fact that my defense is unlikely to shine this week.
Also, I understand that Brady is a doubt, it's just that I don't really see the need for a sideways transfer to get him out just for a possible knock. If he doesn't play, who should I have as first sub, since, as a Newcastle fan, I'm picking Chester (generally my first sub) to suffer heavily.

I have been struggling over this captaincy debate all week and have finally (as a Newcastle fan also) gone with HBA. He is in great form, playing at home against a weaker team, and will be attacking down the right of a front 3 where he will have access to a depleted hull defence on the left (both LB's injured).

Nothing left just to wait and hope my punt pays off.

Go RVP to Rooney and Brady to a mid who you think will do well this wk and the nxt 4/5 wks.
Michu, Eriksen, Ramsey or Moses are all good bets. If they get even a cs (3pts) then it means the transfer only cost you 2 pts (cos Chester is likely to get a 1) and may pay big dividends over the coming weeks. There is also the possibility that Michu will bag a hatrick V palace too!

As the saying goes, if youre not in you cant win - its more fun with a gamble ๐Ÿ™‚

OK, thoughts on this team on a WC. Would rather have Vert and Vidic, but the 1.5m savings helps a ton

    Migs
    Walker, Ferdinand, Coleman
    Barfa (C), Ramsey, Walcott, Michu
    Giroud, Sturridge (VC), Rooney

    Subs: Boruc, Barkley, Wilson, Chester

Good to go with subs and captain choices? I can still make transfers. Thanks for the replies!

That's really nice. Brave captain choice. A few players (Ramsey,Coleman, hba) who I'm not a personal fan of, but generally very nice

Providing he doesn't get injured HBA for me, attacking player and to be honest I can't see Ramsey keeping up his current form.

Ramsey has been dropped back to midfield 3 today. Their line up according to Total FPL is:

        Szcezny

        Sagna Koscielny Mertesecker Gibbs

        Ramsey Flamini WIlshere

        Walcott Giroud Ozil

He was always in midfield, just has a bit more licence to get forward with flamini there doing the defensive duty.

Tempted to captain Benteke as the Villa game is on BT Sports today. Illogical but entertaining.

    Who to play?

    A) Whittaker (Norwich vs Villa). Guaranteed to start, but clean sheet will be tight with Tekkers in current form
    B) Barkley (Everton vs West Ham). Not guaranteed 90 mins (Gibson) vs strong defense.
    C) Kasami (Fullham vs CHelsea). Not guaranteed to start (Bent, Berba) vs strong defense.

Thanks... am leaning toward Barkley, but it's a risk this week I think. It's not a stretch to see his game time being limited by Gibson's return and he comes off the bench to net 1 point.

        Team is otherwise set

        Ming (Boruc)
        Enrique, Mertesacker, Coleman (Whitaker, Brayford)
Walcott (C), Eriksen, BArfa, Barkley (Kasami)
        Tekkers (V), Giroud, RVP

What do we think regarding Spurs formation?

    I mean 4-2-3-1 OR 4-3-3?

Surely Eriksen can steal the show if it's 4-2-3-1 thus retaining the role in "the hole"?

Going to see how he does. Getting Rooney in this week, but if Eriksen does well, will consider him as spurs coverage instead of Soldado. I really think Soldado is going to click in a minute tho.
