Denied winnings by the woodwork after Robin van Persie notched one but struck the bar against Palace, we’re three Flutters down and still without a win. Nevertheless, we’re turning up with another tenner this week, determined to turn the tide via another array of Scout Pick’s inspired markets from Paddy Power.

Before we look at those, however, a reminder of Paddy’s special odds on offer for Sunday’s Manchester derby. If you’ve yet to sign up for an account with Paddy, you can get exclusive enhanced 7/1 odds on a United win against City. The regular odds are 23/10 so this is a great deal for those who register new accounts ahead of Sunday’s clash.

If you’re an existing customer, you can still take advantage of a Paddy offer – there’s a a money back special on Sunday’s clash – if United win the game, they’ll refund any losing First Goalscorer, Last Goalscorer, Correct Score and Scorecast singles on the match.

Moving to this week’s Flutter markets, we start with the hot favourite for the Gameweek armband. Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud tops our poll with 22% of the vote ahead of Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge, with both strikers having claimed four goals in four league starts thus far. Both find a home in this week’s Picks, although we’re looking to Giroud to help us prise some cash from Paddy Power. Our bookmaker friends are offering 8/1 on Giroud scoring two or more goals with an Arsenal clean sheet against visiting Stoke; we’re happy to take them up on that to the tune of £3 of our stake.

As we move into the Scout Picks midfield, we find a man in form in the shape of Swansea’s Mihcu. Having notched in back-to-back matches this week, Michu makes a trip to Selhurst Park on Sunday, perhaps leggy from Europa League exploits but, nonetheless, sure to provide the key threat to Ian Holloway’s men. The Spaniard takes pride of place back in our Picks for the first time this season and Paddy have put odds of 15/2 on Michu netting a third goal in a week, with the Swans keeping a shut-out. We’ll gladly throw them another £3 of our tenner on this one.

Finally, Hatem Ben Arfa is another man in form and heavily backed going into the Gameweek. With Hull City visiting St James’ Park, many have already banked a third consecutive win for Alan Pardew’s outfit. If that turns out to be the case, then Ben Arfa is surely set to play his part. Paddy have a Ben Arfa goal with a Newcastle shut-out at 7/1, making it our bet of the week and enough to prise the final £4 from our mitts.

Register and Bet £10 And Get £20 Free

If you’re new to Paddy Power, then you can take up any of these odds and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally, of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Right Captains choices seem the order of the day so here's my basic amateur analysis in brief

    A) RVP - fixture too hard. Utd struggling to create chances
    B) Giroud - The safe Arsenal bet, good form, but surely he can't score 5 games in a row? And Stoke will be hard to break down
    C) Walcott - The flair Arsenal choice, good form and banging on the door. Again against a stubborn Stoke side
    D) Benteke - My Captain. Good form and fixture. Of all the choices I can see Benteke as the most likely to score 2. Norwich wont be pushovers though I feel
    E) Soldado - Good fixture. Surely he must score from open play.Think the side will start to gel. I don't want to get burned from him again though
    F) Ben Arfa - Three on the trot?Good fixture but I think maybe an assist for Remy this time.
    G) Sturridge - again can he score 5 in a row? How will Liverpool do without Coutinho?
    H) Lampard or any Chelsea - Who will play? Ivanovic my be a good shout
    I) Michu - I fancy him to score, but will he be too worn out after Europe? I never feel happy captaining a mid over a striker either.
    .

In short, I think Giroud is the safe bet. I don't have him. I'm on Tekkers. I'm not one for giving midfielders the armband but Michu and Walcott could be good choices.

Interesting. I do have Walcott on my non WC team. Don't know what to make of Hazard this season. My thoughts were that Walcott could drop a bit if he has a poor game and Hazard could rise if he has a blinder, therefore I may recoup a little.

Who would come in for Jenkinson? He has been starting hasn't he?

Bony is a good bit of potential differential, i 'm thinking.

Mourinho's comments about Oscar were interesting (http://t.co/PadcQ4pABQ)

Anyone else finding a place for the Brazilian in their team, or are CHE still no go?

WC active and like the idea of mixing up the midfield template a bit, or is it crazy to go for Oscar over say Michu or Barfa?

1: If you want to know points from Captain early today, Go Benteke.

2: If you want it at prime time, Go Sturridge.

3: If you want it a bit late, Go Oscar or Lampard.

4: If you want it as Sunday brunch, Go Walcott or Giroud.

Regarding the captaincy dilemma - In the end I resorted to give my 3 1/2 year-old daughter four names to choose from - Giroud, Wally, RVP and Benteke... She was adamant that I should choose RVP, so I did... You win some, you lose some, but it still feels good following my daughter's advice... 😀 So there it is...

    Good Luck all!
