The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen’s inclusion was reliant on his move to Manchester United, which now looks to have fallen through. Who should he replace him with?

He concedes Charles N’Zogbia is a huge punt in midfield. Is it a gamble too far? Alexis Sanchez is an insurance policy and he feels he can easily downgrade the Arsenal midfielder to his cheaper team mate Aaron Ramsey.

      I'd downgrade giroud or costa and use the extra but on the keepers?

        Who to? If I was going to scrimp on my thirds tricker I would drop to someone around £6m but that leaves a mill. I think all 3 of the forwards will produce consistently this season.

        If I am sticking with a £4.0m keeper non playing then Krul won't do me much good for the start of the season.

        It will be one of the two before season starts and then move to Shaw when the season and his fitness settles.

      Filipe Luis not 100% nailed on, liverpool leaky, Herrera is a punt, forwards are weak.

      Id loose Herrera for a 4.5 and work on the defence and frontline

          I would do Sanchez and Luis to Silva and Terry or Cahill. Will leave you with an extra mill to upgrade Myhill to a starting keeper to rotate with Howard and an extra 0.5m for the bank.

      Dzeko plays Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal in his 5 first games... Dzeko nearly as much a punt as Ade 😉 I'd go for Ade, great differential.

    Primarily interested in suggestions on how I might make improvements given roughly the same financial outlay. I'm well aware that I could downgrade some of these players and spend that money elsewhere, but at the moment I'm not interested in doing that.

    Thoughts on how to fit in Sterling or Sturridge? Do people really think Sturridge is worth 11.5m? I'm not so sure.

      Of those options i'd pick B.

      But would prefer Ramsey over Sanchez until we see how Alexis adjusts to Prem. Then you could upgrade Pelle or bench?
