  1. Six positive coronavirus tests across three Premier League clubs 5 days, 6 hours ago

I don’t want to too casually dismiss your point. It has some merit. But please let me know the next time you decide to play Fantasy Oil Riggers. Professional footballers have honed their skills, worked hard to get where they are, and offer a commodity - their talent - consumers are willing to pay to watch. That gives them tremendous leverage that they have every right to use. If I were in his shoes, I’d want to protect the people close to me as well. And how do you know they aren’t stressed? Their kids get sick, they go through divorces, their parents die...all while their performance on the job is scrutinized not just by their boss but by hundreds of millions of people around the world. I’m not asking you to feel sorry for them (and I suspect they, too, aren’t asking you to feel sorry for them), but they live in the opposite of a bubble. » Read

In VFPL, I wildcarded before GW19, took a few risks that didn’t pan out and resulted in a 56-point week, and dropped my OR from 44 to 56 (not catastrophic, but poor relative to the score of many other wildcarders). Chief among my punts was not only bringing in Rashford, but captaining him. So I decided to look more closely at the data to convince myself I wasn’t crazy for bringing him in: In the first ten gameweeks, he had 56 attack involvements, and returned 8 goals and 2 assists. In the last nine gameweeks, he’s had 76 attack involvements, but has returned just 3 goals and 0 assists. More acutely, in the last six gameweeks, he’s had 51 attack involvements with just a single goal to show for it. I mean, shame on me - I guess - for not just sticking with the hot hand, but if ever there were a candidate for Jonty’s goals imminent table, Rash is the one. This seems like a crazy statistical anomaly, so I think I’ll hold for at least another week. Does anybody else… » Read

  3. Six goals in three matches for in-form Martial after Virtual FPL hat-trick 10 days, 11 hours ago

I’m bringing him in, but I have to warn you: I chose City playing at home in all three of my friendlies, and Aguero started in only one of the three. Odd that. » Read

  4. Wildcard activity increases amid uncertainty over FPL plans beyond Gameweek 38 12 days, 19 hours ago

I actually ran three Wolves home fixtures just to see what I'd get. Neto started two, while Jota started the other. I have money in the bank to go Firmino to Auba (c) for free, and keep Jota, and that's what I'm leaning towards doing. But I could alternatively do Firmino to Laca, and Jota to Jimenez for -4. I think I'll give Jota one more GW. If he doesn't start today, shame on me for not reacting sooner, and I'll move on. » Read

  5. Wildcard activity increases amid uncertainty over FPL plans beyond Gameweek 38 12 days, 20 hours ago

I donated $20 US previously. It's worth it given the work he's put in. That said, I wonder how much more I should bribe, err, donate to Ragabolly to ensure Jota - who I brought in after he played 1170 of 1170 minutes the first 13 game weeks, only to be benched the two weeks I've had him and return back-to-back one pointers - actually starts today 🙂 » Read

Yeah, I think it’s 19. Fixtures get better for Liverpool, Everton, and Southampton, and turn a bit worse for Wolves and Spurs. Arsenal and Bournemouth continue their good runs. It’s why I’ll be waiting until GW19 to wildcard. » Read

  7. Using the ‘per 90’ tool to assess FPL midfielders with the best goal threat 14 days, 22 hours ago

Ah, I’m just messing with you, Virg. Well done. That said, I don’t know that I’d take the fixture difficulty rating on the site as gospel. » Read

Nicely done, Virg. Would have been better with Jimenez instead of Vardy » Read

  9. Using the ‘per 90’ tool to assess FPL midfielders with the best assist potential 15 days, 18 hours ago

Looks good, Virg, but Wolves' attack is too good not to include, in my opinion. I'd probably rather have Traore than Zaha, and Jimenez than Vardy. I'm sure it's tempting to spend all your budget on a free hit, but there might be better, cheaper options. » Read

  10. Budget goalkeeper Ruddy set for string of Virtual FPL starts after Patricio injury 26 days, 21 hours ago

What do we make of Aston Villa being second stingeist for attacks conceded in VFPL, and Norwich being fourth stingeist? Is this just statistical wobble, and we should expect to see them conceding more soon? Is this due to easy early fixtures (at least for Villa)? Is there something else going on that will make these sides more difficult to break down than would be expected based on this season’s data? » Read
