  1. The best budget FPL forwards for 2020/21 21 days, 18 hours ago

Good post. I’ve been trying to explain this till I’m blue in the face - booking in a transfer GW2 for just about any player is torching expected points value in the long run. A bit sick of tapping on the tank with it tbh. » Read

It’s fine to say all that and I don’t necessarily disagree, but on the Gomez point in particular I’d expect that to result in much stronger defensive stats (lower chances conceded and therefore xG conceded) and it just didn’t. I don’t trust my eyes enough in isolation to tell me if a defence has truly improved or not, but if they have it’s one of the easiest things to see in terms of a change in chances conceded etc. Same issue with united. People see Maguire etc making mistakes and think they’re a terrible defence when in actual fact they really aren’t. » Read

You won’t know when they’ll come though is the issue. Robbo’s performance in the first 10 last season won’t be representative of how he might perform in the first 10 this season. In my view people also massively overstate the Alisson/Gomez effect too. Liverpool’s defensive stats didn’t change much between 1-15 and 15-30. I know people will say they ‘looked’ more solid and kept more CS and attribute it to those two, but I’d expect that extra solidity to be borne out in statistical improvements too (less chances conceded/lower quality of chances conceded, and in Alisson’s case a high xG prevented delta) or its just as likely to be variance for me. » Read

I’m on 3 at the moment with Doherty 😀 Think Saïss is massively overlooked at 5m. » Read

No such thing as a set and forget for me mate until value options emerge 🙂 TAA and 2x wolves defence likely to stay though to be fair along with Salah. Starting with Auba so I can re-evaluate where to go with the cash GW3. » Read

Let me tell you watching him get an assist in the 38th minute and a 7 point CS wipeout in the 77th every week was not much fun at all. » Read

This is the problem - there’s a real disconnect. I think most of the points will come from midfield still, but I’m strongly considering 4-3-3 because there is more value in the cheaper forwards. » Read

Antonio and Wood will wipe the floor with 6.5m mid options too, unless Foden gets sustained minutes. » Read

Let me summarise. Captaining good players against poor teams generally worked last season. You'd also have done very well if you avoided Kane vs poor teams, and captained Rashford vs elite defences. » Read

If you expect the other premium mids to outscore him, then it's very valid to go without. He's not that much more expensive than KDB though. » Read

No, but in that context it is. I don't mind it where it's to do with a team 'Man City cover' for example, but asking if Mahrez can cover Sterling etc is irritating for some reason (even if the concept is fine - people asking if one player can match another for less budget, it's the word that's irrationally annoying!) » Read
