  3. When the Blank Gameweek and Double Gameweek fixtures could take place 1 day, 9 hours ago

Possible, but not likely. It will probably be thrown in with the BGW31 fixtures for scheduling in GW34 or GW37. If that does work (because Leicester are still in the FA Cup), they will probably then look to schedule it in a midweek where there are CL/Europa League fixtures (normally verboten). As neither Leicester nor Norwich are in Europe, there will be plenty of options. Man City v Arsenal though is a much bigger challenge. » Read

  6. Who are the best FPL captain options for Gameweek 23? 1 day, 13 hours ago

There was a one-off DGW25 last year, when the Everton-City match was brought froward from GW27. Part of the rationale then must have the lack of spare midweeks if City progressed in the CL. The problem this year is that it will involve messing with the winter break. » Read

  7. Who are the best FPL captain options for Gameweek 23? 1 day, 13 hours ago

If City reach the FA Cup semis they will still have one fixture in GW34: a midweek match against either Arsenal(h) (postponed due to the EFL Cup Final); Chelsea(a) (from GW31); or by slipping the original GW34 fixture (Newcastle(h)) by a few days. They would definitely have double in GW37, but that would still leave another fixture to squeeze in somewhere. Rescheduling the Arsenal match for GW26 would be problematic as it would undermine the principle of the winter break (ie it would mean City and Arsenal wouldn't get one); however, with both City and Arsenal competing in Europe, they might not have the option of rescheduling for a midweek that clashes with CL/Europa Leagues ties. This suggests that City would have to play Arsenal midweek in GW34, but that still leaves one spare midweek for two fixtures. Maybe a TGW is in prospect this year. » Read

I think he'll start against Wolves and Palace, and be rested in the FA Cup ahead of Liverpool away in GW25. That would be similar to how he was used over Christmas, and I can't see Ralph doing anything to mess with his current hot run of form. » Read

  16. The case for Firmino in a Liverpool triple-up for Double Gameweek 24 3 days, 13 hours ago

I'll take any information I can get. we're all looking for who will score the most points, but when we're rolling the dice I think it is also important to have a sense of the risk/reward balance. I do; however, put a premium on the eye test, and the best way of all is watching matches live (although I also enjoy the occasional reports from FPL Managers attending games). The armband decision in GW24 for those with Salah and Mane does, in my humble opinion, come down to attitude to risk. I will watch both closely this weekend but I'm not expecting to see a definitive form indicator to separate them. And in the absence of that I will either gamble by going for Salah's lower ownership, or play safe with Mane. » Read

  17. Is now the time to invest in Southampton's FPL defensive assets? 4 days, 9 hours ago

If Leicester get to the EFL Cup final, a DGW for Vardy, where one of the fixtures in Norwich (a) could be tasty, or City assets where Arsenal (h) would be a component. And obviously there will be other opportunities for PL teams that make through to the FAC Quarters and beyond. The danger; however, is that those DGWs will involve two games in 3-4 days at a time when rotation will be a factor, so the bird in the hand is definitely worth considering. » Read
