FPL newbie really. Casually started in 2017 and did relatively well, after a disastrous 2018/19 and finishing bottom of my mini league I started to create models and pick based on my statistical forecasts rather than what seemed to be poor instinct!

I think the Brentford double-up is madness to be honest. Best case scenario really is 1 attacking return a GW from them combined. They both offer good value but a double-up on an average attack seems very limiting. With Wissa coming on strong recently I'd say Mbeumo might lose some minutes as well Having Mbeumo and Armstrong, maybe both would score. Or Townsend and Toney. Probably having Saka and ESM as a double-up is better value tbh, which is something I also wouldn't even consider though as relying on the Arsenal attack scoring multiple goals each week isn't a bet I'd take! » Read

I'm thinking a 532! Would love people's thoughts! Mendy Azpiliceuta Trent Dias Rudiger Cancelo Son Mo Raphinha Antonio Toney/ Armstrong (rotate) Foster Toney/ Armstrong (rotate) Normann Brownhill » Read

And I'm still tempted by 5 at the back and maybe even a premium keeper! I could see Chelsea, City and Liverpool getting a lot of cleanies over the coming weeks! Dias might get more cleanies than Lukaku scores goals! If I go 5 at the back it might be this: Mendy Azpilicueta TAA Dias Matip Cancelo Mo Son Raphina Antonio Inheanacho Foster Toney Normann Brownhill Having 9 of my team from Liverpool, City and Chelsea feels powerful! » Read

Arsenal fan Deulofail??? 2 Arsenal midfielders seems crazy to me. I don't like attacking double-ups at the best of times, limits your top score really. Double defence however... » Read

Virtually the same team I'm currently on! What I'm avoiding is Brentford double though for sure though. I'll either have Mbeumo and Armstrong as Southampton fixtures so good, or ESM/ Gallagher/ Townsend and Toney I think. Benefit of either is it creates opportunity to rotate based on fixtures. I'm on Azpuliceuta instead of James/ Chilwell as well. James seems to miss a lot of games, and Chilwell may well be 2nd choice. I might go Rudiger but will wait on status update. Or even Christensen as will have a good sub for when he doesn't play. » Read

Firmino will start as he's been back and training. He'll rest one of the other 3 as only 2 days rest until playing Athletico on Tuesday night. Mo played Monday whereas Mane was Tuesday so that might impact the decision! I'd go with Mane to be rested tomorrow Milner will likely start I think as isn't involved in internationals Could see van Dijk rested as he was the only CB involved in internationals, but with Alisson and Fabinho out it probably means he won't be I reckon. » Read

  7. Three FPL differentials to consider for Gameweek 8 4 days, 23 hours ago

Brighton have City and Liverpool in their next 3 games! To bring in a defender with the best two attacks coming up would be madness!!! No mention of Matip at 5.0 as well? Surprises he never gets mentioned anywhere as a good option » Read

  8. Mbeumo, Toney - or both? Which Brentford attacker to buy in FPL 5 days, 4 hours ago

Only if you think Brentford will score loads of goals! I don't like the idea of attacking double-ups unless they're in a team that score more than average and also have a pair involved in almost every goal. Like Mane and Salah or Son and Kane » Read

  9. Mbeumo, Toney - or both? Which Brentford attacker to buy in FPL 5 days, 22 hours ago

I'd always felt it was likely I'd have Mbeumo and never really considered that I'd bring Toney in. With the key goals of Wissa though recently I wonder if Mbeumo might get his minutes lowered over the coming weeks. With that in mind and the fact that Toney is on pens I've done a reversal and getting Toney in on my WC I think. I think Toney is the best forward under 7.0 In midfield between 5.0 and 6.0 I think Gallagher, Townsend, Doucoure, ESM might all be good equally good options as Mbeumo I also want to avoid a couple up on any attacking teams I think, especially an average side like Brentford. Same with West Ham and why I didn't have Benrahma with Antonio for a while which in hindsight would have worked for a bit! » Read

  10. How did Fabio Borges become arguably the best ever FPL manager? 9 days, 15 hours ago

Definitely the more data the better. I'd raise a point that only looking at PL could also be mislead for many player. Top players might have 25% of their minutes outside PL matches, due to the smaller sample sizes in other comps it might be that some hugely over or under perform in say CL that would bring the in-line with xGI in total and cancel out the 'anomalies'. To use the Cancelo example in the CL with Man City he's had 2 goals and 1 assist with a 0.5 xG and 0.5 xA. So over xGI by 2. Although I agree the Cancelo flatters to deceive! » Read

Looks good for this GW! £25m on two Man U attacking assets seems a waste though! The chance of Bruno out scoring Mo even when he was on pens was small, if Ronaldo is on pens his value should be 10 like Son » Read

I won’t be having 3 premiums, they’re not good value unless you captain them sometimes, and with 3 you obviously won’t captain at least often enough to justify the price in my view. Having said that your team is well balanced and I like it and you even have 3 subs who currently start! The difficulty comes in transfers though, if you wanted to upgrade Sarr or Benrahma it takes 2 moves at least probably and would likely leave lots of money ITB. If you go for it, you’re stuck with it really! » Read

Def Bamford to Antonio Tsimikas most likely won’t get any minutes so you’ll be down to only 2 defenders. So I’d bring someone in for Amartey or Tsimikas as well, even if its a -4 it’s a better long term move » Read
