New Premier League Players Analysis Updated

Another week and another update to my evolving spreadsheet looking in detail at the potential of those players that are new to the Premier League for 2014/15. This time we have a raft of new players added as well as some additional analysis to help assess their chances for success.

The New Players Added

Some of you will have seen my recent community post analysing the new Premier League players. On this updated version, new players have been added. These include Newcastle’s new signings Remy Cabella, Emmanuel Riviere and Daryl Janmaat. Out of these Remy Cabella seems to be the most promising. Chelsea’s new full back Filipe Luis is also on the spreadsheet but looking at the statistics his attacking prowess is not as good as  many Fantasy managers would have thought. Personally, I believe that Enner Valencia has the potential to be a top Premier League player. I have also added to the promoted clubs players to give a wider range of analysis. Seven new players have been added to this spreadsheet.

New Versus and Value Sections

The major update that you should look out for is the VS section. I asked the community which players they were having trouble deciding between. I have put together a comparison of each pair of players using the same ”points per app” and ”value” statistics. For example, between Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas. In this comparison, Hazard has a better points per app rate but with Fabregas’ lower price, he provides better value. Other battles include Christian Eriksen against Samir Nasri and Mathieu Debuchy vs Laurent Koscielny. Check them out along with six more comparisons.

With the release of the Fantasy Premier League game I am able to calculate the ”value” of players. This is handy when comparing players with a maximum of 0.5 difference in price. It looks at the points-per-app rate in relation to the price of players.

For more information on how the spreadsheet stats work and what it shows have a look at my other community article, posted earlier this month, as well as the opening page to the spreadsheet.

Very helpful input indeed. I'm very sweet on the prospects of Tadic as a result.

Should you get around to doing any more match ups, I'd be most interested in Jelavic vs Long based on their points subsequent to their respective moves to Hull, as they are both possible 3rd striker options given their good early season fixtures.

    Cheers!
