The waiting is finally over. Earlier today, Fantasy Premier League (FPL) opened for registration ahead of the 2016/17 season, still affording us plenty of time to construct our 15-man squads before the action gets underway on August 13.
Unlike last year, there are no new chips or changes to the wildcards to take into consideration. However, a quick scan of the Player List reveals plenty of significant alterations.
Last term’s top scoring player, Riyad Mahrez, been subject to a hefty price hike – having started the previous campaign at 5.5, the Leicester winger is now up to 9.5 this time around.
Similarly, team-mate Jamie Vardy has jumped from 6.0 to 10.0 after ending 2015/16 as the joint-top scoring forward in the game.
Like Vardy, Tottenham’s Harry Kane has also been shifted further up into the premium bracket – after scoring 20+ goals in each of the last couple of campaigns, he now sets you back 11.0.
In terms of the new faces, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been handed an imposing 11.5 price tag – the Swede is one of just eight players that will set you back 10.0 or more for the season ahead. United team-mate Henrikh Mkhitaryan is available for 9.5 in the centre of the park, whilst Chelsea’s new forward Michy Batshuayi comes in at 9.0.
We now have 25 days to fine-tune our 15-man squads until champions Leicester travel to Hull in the early lunchtime kick-off on Saturday, August 13 at 12.45pm.
As always, we’ll be rolling out a series of Player Price List articles over the upcoming days, breaking them down by position and price bracket.
For now, though, take a deep breath and enjoy diving in to your initial lineups.

Price list has Mkhitaryan down as 8.5, game has him as 9.5.
Not checked others but imagine there'll be a fair few discrepancies?
