As we count down the days to Saturday’s Premier League kick-off, the Carlos Tevez – Sergio Aguero conundrum has become a major issue for Fantasy managers after the former’s scintillating strike and strong display against Chelsea in Sunday’s Community Shield.

Having looked at the City midfield area in Monday evening’s Technical Area piece, we now turn our attentions to the Argentine duo’s performance against the Blues but first of all, we use the Members Area Comparison Tool to gauge their respective displays over the final four Gameweeks of 2011/12 to look for the similarities within Roberto Mancini’s new formation:

    Currently have Siggy as my Tottenham coverage and have been having nightmares about whether it's the right pick or not. He is a differential compared to VDV and especially Bale but what does everyone think about where he is going to play? Is he just going to end up as the new Modric?

    My fear is that he is a Modric, I will then be using my transfers to rearrange Chelsea and Reading players from the DGW and will miss out on Bale and/or VDV due to price rises (without significant sacrifice)...

      He will take Modric's place this weekend, but they will get a replacement by the close of the window. After that, he will be competing with VDV or those two will play and one will replace Lennon on the left occasionally.

          Yeah, it's obviously not as good as someone getting 2 goals and an assist, that goes without saying. But as a standalone score, 8 really isn't that bad to have.

      Never fully understood this either.

      I guess the thinking is they spend more time reading more sources about their club than a non-support would and thus can offer more insight.

      Doesn't really work when the manager may not even know who will be starting though...

      Looking good.

      Given Sunderlands pre-season combined with having Demel and Clyne might leave you with only 2 CS prospects and I'd personally leave Valencia until the United midfield situation is a bit clearer.

        When you realize Guthrie simply sits on the bench, a midfield of:

        the benefit of this kind of formation though is that it makes it easy to downgrade to the likes of Bent Podolski etc. Not so easy with the likes of Graham, Petric etc in your team

    Right the whole keeper situation is really bugging me. 6.0m seems far too much cash to spend on a keeper. Maximum points in a season would surely only be 135-150 points.

    The trouble is they are all so highly priced. Whos everone going with?

    To those still undecided about Bale or VDV I have the winning formula - pick both!

    May sound daft, but Spurs fixture list looks mighty fine from GW2 and either/both players carry good ppg odds. I am planning on starting with VDV for GW1 with a view to bringing in Bale for Mata in GW2

      Sound logic,

      We know AVB will go play fairly expansively which why you want to stay clear of your Friedel's and Walker's but consider doubling up on your VDV's and Bale's

      I have got to say, I am really wary of Spurs early doors. Particularily with Modric gone and Parker out, where's the mf engine coming from? Plus they are going in to the lions den on Saturday, let me assure you.

      My biggest concern is AVB though. He looked tactically inept last season.

        Very valid point Urindanger, which is why I prefer VDV as my primay choice as he is more likely to play in a forward role. If they look shocking at St.James then there are plenty of other decent options (Carloza etc)

    At the moment I have friedel and vorm. Both have good fixtures from week 2 so I don't need both of them.

    Any ideas on the best replacement? Thinking of de Gea.

      De Gea is a solid pick. Friedel will probably be replaced by a new keeper next week anyway so i wouldn't go near him.
