Batten down the hatches, Granville’s wildcard is active. Having suffered an abominable Gameweek 2 mauling, the Mancunian has shuffled, tail between legs, back to the drawing board. The excuses and justification are spread thickly throughout and Granville even calms his jerky knee long enough to strike back at my decision to transfer in Eden Hazard: the cheek of the man.

The usual regulars are, of course, scattered about this nonsense, including a record breaking “All Aboard” the weekend preview and the recent failings of the ScoutCast XI.

Grab your protective suit and listen in via this link, or use the handy player below to stream in your browsers.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

      A. Pienaar is a season keeper and Newc should have a decenet defence again.

It'd be easier to find alternatives to Saylor or Pienaar if things didn't go to plan, which is something to consider.

G’day gents, need some suggestions on my WC team,

    Vorm (rudd)
    Rangel, Rafael, Baines (Clyne, Demel)
Hazard, Toure, Michu, Pienaar (el ahmadi)
    Berbatov, Van Persie, Tevez

Obivously hazard on the bench this week

Yes i have Berbatov, i think he’ll go good

Interesting risk on the berb. Are you not tempted to just get Petric to start with?

I wouldn't have Vorm & Rangel. Perhaps Rangel to Newc defender and then use the 0.5m to upgrade Clyne to Cuellar then you have perfect H/A rotation.

    Morning All,

Would it be possible to get peoples opinions on the final few spots in my WC team.

    A. Vorm, Lennon, Petric

    B. Jaask, Guthrie, Torres

    Rest of the team is

    ****, Begovic,
Baines, S. Taylor, Cuellar, Demel, Clyne
    Hazard, HBA, Peinaar, Michu, ****
    RVP, Tevez, ****

Obviously option A would present an issue when choosing who too bench, but does give me spurs coverage and I was planning to ditch Lennon in a few games for McClean or AJ. Only thing worrying me is that I Torres is going to have a very good season. Thanks in advance!

    Ridgewell

I have Foster in goal, so if Ridgewell would be doubling on WBA.

    Hi everyone,

Used my FT... thinking of holding on, or

Siggy to HBA (no other tot or newc cover)
    And
Barnett to baines (would be replacing figueroa or hangeland this week)

Obviously both would need to score +4 pts more than who they're replacing this week for it to make sense.

    Any views? Crazy?

I don't really understand the RVP love at the moment. Yes a very good player and an even better FPL player but I can't see how he can repeat his haul from last season? He scored or was involved in above 50% of Arsenal's goals last year and yes United have the potential to scored more but to match last year he would have be involved in near 40%? Arsenal scored 74 goals last year. That and the fact that we don't know if he's got pens/ free kicks and he won't start 36 league games like he did last year. Also last year I got him for 11.9, i don't think I would have paid 13 mil last year. not at least till my budget went up.

And this is what changes the dynamics of the equation. Having a strong and reliable player as a a captain, he becomes an essential. (especially without Rooney)

And I am very sure that without Rooney, he is definitely on penalties and sometimes free kicks too.

However a strong counter argument is that with players like B.Arfa who are priced at 7.1, Berba at 6.8, Petric/Graham at 6.1 compared to RVP at 13, there is a lot which you can do with the budget ease.

For now, I think he is essential, and hence I'm going with him. But after Rooney returns, I might be willing to drop him.

With the amount of cheap value players already scoring well I don't think accomodating RVP is that hard. He may not be mega VFM at £13m but he will get alot of points, so if you can afford him he will increase your point hauls.

With Rooney out for 8 weeks (?) RvP will be on pens, fks, corners, main striker, better team than last year (gunner fan), great supply from Kagawa (and others), and Im pretty sure that SAF will be forced to adjust their game a bit to suit Kagawa and RvP, also Valencia crosses will be great for Van Persie..
season keeper? Maybe not, right now? Yes, yes yes yes

And, the fact that there is so many great options in the 6-7m bracket (midfield and forward) makes it pretty easy to have a well balanced team anyway..
Baines, Hazard, tevez and RvP is as close as "must haves" it can be right now, imo

Ive got Bale, not Hazard.. and I really hope I can keep it that way.. I also have Kagawa for 2 more gws, then Cazorla (is the plan).
If Suarez is on fire, I will probably transfer Tevez out for him once Kun is back..

And the biggest reason for Van Persie really is that he can score against any team, also BIG points.. which makes him a great Captain...
But hey, I see good points from both sides tbh.. guess we all have to wait and see

Plus, let's be honest, budget wise the choice comes down to...

RVP + 6.5 mid (Michu, Pienaar, etc)

      Or

Torres / Ade + top prices mid (Bale, Hazard, etc)

I would much rather have the former for now.

    Jaaskelainen
    Rafael, Williams, Hangeland,
    Yaya Toure, Bale, Hazard, Kagawa
    Torres, Tevez, Graham

    Begovic, Demel, Cuellar, El Ahmadi

Thanks to the booze my wild card is on this week, can anyone see any obvious errors?

I’m toying with the idea of:

Graham > Berbatov (I think he’ll do well at Fulham)
    Toure/Kagawa > Michu

    Thoughts?

Fair enough. I'm on the verge of reinforcing my defence too but I do think the mega-cheap defence approach has merit. Brian (Not the Messiah) subscribes to it and he had top 200 finish last year.

on th matter at hand. I think if I had to WC now, I would get a defense something along the lines of: Cueller, newcastle, Swansea, 4.0, 4.0
you can always then just change the 3 main defenders to suit fixtures as you go through the season. Attacking returns from expensive forwards are far easier to predict and the biggest reason is that expensive forwards give you more captaincy options. expensive defenders do not give you captaincy options. captaincy is 30% of the game...

keepers deserve to be looked at seperately IMO.

    Good luck to VDV owners

The latest and greatest we have from Germany is that Spurs attacker Rafael van der Vaart could be on his way to Hamburg for an impressive 12 million Euros – pretty good business when you think back to Tottenham's transfer supremo Daniel Levy picking him for 8-9ish from Real Madrid!

Good business, but I will still miss him. He might be a selfish and injury prone player, but he has simply been massive for Tottenham over the course of his 2 years. In his first season, he ended the season as Spurs' top scorer in the Premier League, scoring 13 goals, whilst also providing the most assists, with 9. And that 3-3 draw with Arsenal, where he scored 2 goals, well how can I forget that?

contrary to advice i think boyce and rafael are nailed in my team why..
1.rafael- if anyone has watched a man unuted game with this guy playing you need no further convincing. He gets further up the pitch i more than most midfielders in man and is good at scoring all round as any striker with a clean sheet as a bonus captain material if in starting 11.
2.boyce is the man or the big boy. rare for a defender to score 2 goals in a game but he has done it.he is OOP surely could easily have kept a clean sheet against chelsea were it not for the madness in the first 10 min of the game

Are there any bargins at all at 4mil this year, as I can't see them. Shame, as there were a couple of defenders last year that fitted the bill. Not so sure this year.

Demel, also Reading defenders should be just fine once the fixtures get better same can be said for Southampton defenders.

Demel and Clyne looks best imo
Clyne actually was pretty attacking against city in the first game, many BIG teams wanted him before he joined Soton.. good enough for a 4.0

Is ther any Oop defender worth bringing in for a 4 point hit, this week. I have no back up on the bench and thinking about transferring A.Cole.

yes he is nailed on to start, he was moved to midfield at the end of last season when Wigan started to play well, so cant see him altering the formation if it continues to work.
