“A template” – something that serves as a model for others to copy.

Thanks to the painful international break, we’ve had a testing fortnight during which time we’ve appeared to witness a trend that has seen the birth of a “cookie cutter” Fantasy lineup – much to the frustration of those quick to seize on the merits of Eden Hazard, Michu and company.

Back from our enforced holidays, Granville and I aren’t exactly international bright young things – more jaded, grizzled old grumps who are hoping that somebody steps forward to shake things up. As long as it’s not Gareth Bale – I sold him for Michu. Yeah, busted: I’m as bad as the rest of ‘em.

Wildcard played before the break, I attempt to get Granville to admit its failure, whilst thanking him for his calming words which cooled my boots as my finger hovered over the squad refresh button. I still can’t quite work out why he talked me out of it – a cunning long term strategy perhaps? Surely not?

Break the mould by listening in via this link or use the handy player below to stream the goodness…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I'm not completely happy about my team (mainly defence & no Hazard), but still I'm not touching wildcard. I need to downgrade a defender (Lescott or Cole) and then probably Bale to Hazard. Also these price rises are doing my head in, those who used wildcards their teams prices have gone through the roof.

    1FT, nothing in bank

    Howard - Fed
    Lescott - Hangleland - Cole (inj/50%) - [McCarthey - Barett)
    Pienaar - Yaya - Michu - Bale - [Noble]
    RVP - Tevez (c) - Graham

Defenders i am thinking about - Cueller, Clark, McAuley.

Really dunno if Lescott will play.... Too much risk to have that expensive DF. I'd get him out for, from your list, McAuley.

As I lurked and violently masturbated to pictures of John McCririck...

I noticed Mark mention something about making changes to the comments section on a few occasions. Was it implied that a rep system would be introduced or have I missed the point completely? I know he is against the idea of a forum, which is fair enough, but i'm very wary of a rep thing seeing as I eternally have a bad one.

Now I know most if not all of the Indians have went to bed for the night but isn't there a danger of little factions like say FFS UEFA voting up every comment they make up to and including everytime they exhale and break wind? 😈

There could be an issue of favouritism if we can start liking and disliking each others posts, I mean will this not lead to bullying and clique-y-ness? You could just be saying hello and people will banish you with 10 dislikes in the space of a minute (extreme case but who knows?)

Ye I hope they just leave it, It'd be a shame to regulate the thing too much, also why would you want your posts to be 'liked' loads of times when people could just say something complimentary or on the contrary say they hate you and would rather you were dead? (joke) It takes away the human element and just ends up being facebook

From what I can gather from reading many posts about the comment section format including responses from Mark and the guys, the main intention is not to have a rep system per se, but the ability to "downvote" a post or poster, so that their comments are hidden in some way... Not sure how this would effect the posting of RMTs, but I imagine it would at least help to stop endless spamming of them. If any of this is wrong or misinterpreted feel free to correct me anyone :)!

To RCA and the other 'Pool supporters, and all supporters of footy and all that is Right:

The US media covered Cameron's statement re: Hillsborough, albeit briefly and without any real context. But I am glad that there has been - after all this time - some redemption for the families and for all footy fans. Despicable affair ... and I was waiting to hear what would be changed so that it didn't happen again (the police reports, not as much the tragedy itself). Didn't hear that, though ...

But for whatever respite this new report has offered - I congratulate you. As a 'plastic Yank United fan', you have my sympathy, my respect, and my thoughts for a future that never again carries such tragedy.

Tevez is who mine will be on.

Think Newcastle will score so Baines will be relying on attacking returns. Don't trust Hazard to keep up his ridiculous assist rate, and he's only scored from the pen spot so far. Tevez should get 90 with Aguero still out and he could be on pens.

I'm sure RVP will start so it's probably irrelevant anyway.

I'd love to see Miyaichi grab a goal on saturday. He will be well tucked away on my bench but at least it might stop his bloody price from dropping. Haven't got around to getting rid of him. Think Sterling is the likely candidate if he continues to get 90 minutes here and there.

Interesting discussion with Dimpressive Tackle about the new changes to this whole comments malarky, if you change it too much to make it all +1 this and -1 that, we'll just have a system of comments designed by a committee and I think we all know this place wouldn't be as fun if it wasn't for a bit of banter and tomfoolery, I'd imagine most people come here for stats/info but stay for the randomness/laughs. There's a good mix of discussion and just easy going stuff, don't need to regulate it to make it all Big Brother 1984 style YOU HAVE TO TALK ABOUT VAN PERSIE'S THIGH bullsh*t

I hope I don't get reported for this...

+1 Tomfoolery was on the money.

Agreeing with both you and Martinunreal. I love using this site for comprehensive information on all my Fantasy Football considerations and mainly that is what I use it for but now and again I love a bit of leftfield posting or anarchy as long as it does not descend into spamming or trolling just for the sake of it.

Some of the conversations that I can see being voted up are just innane speculation going around in circles.

There's also no real way of actually regulating the way everyone on here talks. People make a comment every second, someone might just say TITS and it will get 100 likes in a minute, how is that separating the wheat from the chaff so to speak??

I see it on some websites where they have the thumbs up/down thing, it really just ends up being abused, people will get insulted for being disliked etc. This place doesn't need any of that and there should be a degree of common sense about it all, plus favouring freedom of speech. There won't be any conversation if everyone's just clicking up and down all the time...

If the system the Scouts implement is like the one in the Beta test for this new site, I think it's a good half-step. It won't segregate posters/RMTers, it would reward quality posts and allow them to persist amongst the 'noise' that's generated ... while allowing the truly awful stuff to get pushed out of sight.

Sure, there can be cliquey movements, but that's true now. A +1/-1 system will, on balance, achieve its goal of 'rewarding' the quality and punishing the schmucks. I look forward to it.

hmmm...but my problem with that is some schmucks dont really need to be punished for being a bit dim/off-topic, these forums always naturally gravitate to free-form discussion of all topics, not just fantasy football. I don't think you need to punish someone for veering off the subject of Football to say something that's on their mind or whatever it might be. I think anyone with a brain can see the quality posts from the not-so-quality posts. Sure you need to wade through comments to find a decent discussion sometimes but no-one is demanding people have these deep QUALITY conversations constantly, that is expecting too much from what is effectively just a big bunch of fantasy footy fans who also want to chat away about all sorts of things with like-minded people.

Hmmm I don't see the off topic things as being a problem. Most who are unconcerned with these things will probably just ignore rather than rate it.

I worry more so that people will misinterpret any +1/-1 tool or Thumbs Up/Down tool as whether they AGREE/DISAGREE with a comment instead of whether they RESPECT/DISRESPECT a comment. It will be less about the quality of the post and more about whether it conflicts with their opinion.

For instance, I may well put together a thorough explanation of how all Torres owners were "jammy" in GW1 but since so many people owned him and feel the points were justified they will -1 the hell out of my comment not on its merits but simply because they disagree.

There are a lot of people out there who are blindly loyal to the players in their own team.

Ye I see what you mean, and that to me sounds like a bad way to go with this whole forum. Liking/Disliking in that sort of anonymous way just makes the whole thing faceless, if you want to disagree then say something, it's too easy to click a -1/+1, it'll just end up with people being lazy and as you say, taking offence to things because they're not in the mood to hear some guy go on about Torres being lucky etc. I'd much rather someone told me why they disagreed than be -1'd like a muthaf***er

But *I'm* not '-1'ing people for off-topic posts ... H3ll, I'm rarely on-topic myself. The -1 is for the spammers, the mean-spirited, etc. We do that now, with negative posts in response to jerks - not the uninformed, the newbs, the dim - but the trolls. A -1 system just automates the process and eliminates the back-and-forth. Less garbage, more quality/honest discussion (of nearly anything, as you say).

But I think, like Dimpressive said...simply disagreeing with someone isn't the same as them being wrong per se. You can be offended by stuff but it doesn't mean it's unacceptable. Plus if someone says stuff that's just plain inappropriate/mean-spirited I think they should be held accountable and not just be -1'd until their comment is hidden. From what I've seen on this place, there are some troll idiots but the majority are a decent bunch who don't need their comments moderated...

    Looking at a 8pt hit

    Lennon --- > Hazard
    DeGea --- > Foster
    Zab --- > Cuellar

Figure DeGea/Zab are potential rotation risks, Sunderland/WBH look ok defensively and Sunderland should have a double GW at some point soon? - mainly doing this to get Hazard in tbh, this also leaves me with .2 to upgrade Marveaux next week (poss Sterling) look ok?

    Good morning brain people

I rather fancy the cut of Santi Cazorla's gib and aim to buy him in the next couple of weeks. I think he could be Santi Gold. Trouble is, I rather like my current midfield. Which of these would you lose for him -

Hazard, Ben Arfa, Maloney, Michu, Pienaar?

Not Maloney actually, I want to keep him. Cheers.
