“A template” – something that serves as a model for others to copy.

Thanks to the painful international break, we’ve had a testing fortnight during which time we’ve appeared to witness a trend that has seen the birth of a “cookie cutter” Fantasy lineup – much to the frustration of those quick to seize on the merits of Eden Hazard, Michu and company.

Back from our enforced holidays, Granville and I aren’t exactly international bright young things – more jaded, grizzled old grumps who are hoping that somebody steps forward to shake things up. As long as it’s not Gareth Bale – I sold him for Michu. Yeah, busted: I’m as bad as the rest of ‘em.

Wildcard played before the break, I attempt to get Granville to admit its failure, whilst thanking him for his calming words which cooled my boots as my finger hovered over the squad refresh button. I still can’t quite work out why he talked me out of it – a cunning long term strategy perhaps? Surely not?

Break the mould by listening in via this link or use the handy player below to stream the goodness…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Looks pretty solid. Nice differentials in midfield. Only suggestion is that you make sure your goalkeepers don't play on the same day so you can have the option to play both of them.

With my WC intact and having no RVP, Yaya, Baines, Lambert/Fletcher etc (all your fav WC options) and holding onto Bale, Podolski, Dea Gea, Ba, Zableta, A.Cole and a bunch of highly forgettable fodder. I feel solemn comfort in the knowledge that i'm holding faith in allot of my original choices.

Think Ba had a good number (around 5) shots last game, so there is hope there yet. He has the form in previous years, if he stays central he will come good. Sometime!

I think petric is now a rotation risk with Rod TBH. But if anything Petric will have first preference but you never know. At the end of the day Berba will play lead striker, thats what he is good and i would say he is one of the best in the prem at holding up play and creating chances and will obviously score a few himself.

    Team I had week 3
    Vorm (Begovic)
S Taylor, Zabaleta, Rafael (Cameron, Ridgewell)
    Michu, Kagawa, Bale, Fellaini (Hazard)
    Tevez(C), Petric(V), Graham

    0.3 in bank
Also used wild card week 3, Tevez saved it from being a brutal week. Any thoughts on what my next move should be?

I believe I will mostly play 3-4-3 and have one 4.5m MF for bench most of the time.

Maloney involved with the play more and likely to get assist more than Nolan, but Nolan has more goal threat and history of scoring. I feel Maloney could be better value for money but reluctant to avoid Nolan at the moment.

I'm afraid Hazard has almost reached the point of me not even bothering to try and fit him in. Can't believe I went with Mata over him to start the season. Opting to go with Bale + Mata has been the main reason for my poor start if I must say so myself!

First draft for CL team, how would you improve it?

    Cech / Malafeev
Evra / Boateng / Joao Pereira / Bonucci / Tonel
    Ozil / Moutinho / Pirlo / Cazorla / Babel
    Messi / Ronaldo / Rodrigo

    0.5 left over.

Solid looking squad overall. Has Babel been getting playing time as of late? Also, maybe too much Madrid considering their first fixture with City?

What do you think of mine?

      G: Pyatov

      D: Alex – Boateng – Vidal – Rafael

      M: Hazard – Cazorla – Valencia

      F: Messi – Ibrahimovic – Mandzukic

      B: Unnerstall – Fayzulin – Sammir – Vida

I have Jaask & McCartney and De Gea & Rafael in my team. Currently have Jaask and Rafael starting. Anyone think it wise to double up on one ManU or West Ham defenders/keepers? This assumes McCartney is back for the Hammers.

I'm tempted, though Norwich haven't been putting the ball in the net so West Ham stand a good chance of a clean sheet. Though ManU at home would seem to tip it in their favor.

Nothing wrong with Doubling up with ManU def. Especially at those prices. It will be interesting to see if Lindy plays CL matches. If he does it could be a great shout. You know united will get at least 14 CS over the season.

Exactly mate. You would otherwise just have some random bench fodder. I play 3 at the back as well. If he plays 2 out of the next 5 games i'll be very happy with that. I was just thinking there too, that he will either start and play 60+ mins or not play at all (ie can't see him coming on for last 10 mins when they're losing etc). So I say it's safe to play him and if he doesn't play your first sub comes on.

I could see him coming on for Mata for a 1pt'er but noone else, but so far it's been Ramirez and Oscar. Moses could play out on the left if he's needed I feel. Bit worried about that on his gametime. I am holding fire until i make a decision Sat morning. Thanks for the food for thought

if he becomes nailed on.....i would gladly pay 5.0 for him.....You can always get him later. imo since this is your WC i would go with sure starters as it would be difficult to fix should he be relegated to the bench.

That said he could well be this years Jevans.

I tend to pay a premium for starters. I currently have Cahill but would actually prefer Ivanovic at this point. Bertrand would be great as a bench player but if I have one Chelsea defender, I want to know he'll play week in and week out.

    Greetings fellow fantasy managers!

    Currently on WC:

    Vorm, Begovic
    Rafael, Bertrand, Clichy, Cuellar, McCartney
Ben Arfa, Yaya Toure, Michu, Pienaar, Guthrie
    Tevez, Torres, Van Persie

I'm thinking long term squad but been hesitant for Hazard --> Toure , 3rd cheap FW --> Torres

What do you reckon? Transfer or just fine as is?

Thought about that and the answer is I think Clichy will be 1st option for LB in the long term, As for Bertrand his price is just too inviting for a title contending player that can play defense/midfield while not being absolut nailed on.I play with 3 defenders. I asked about the team because I took advantage of price drops/rises a week ago. 0.0 left in bank.

He is first choice (well in my books anyway) but I think City will be playing the 3-5-2 formation on occasions which will mean Kolarov coming in for Clichy who doesn't suit that formation as well.

Be very cautious with it, just because it feels better to walk on doesn't mean you should start running on it straight away without plenty of caution.

Made the same mistake and caused some medium-long term damage, was very weak for months and occasionally painful as a result.
