The Rate My Team Tool (RMT) for members, rolled out on January 1, has been updated with some recent UI improvements, browser compatibility fixes and now also reflects the latest transfer moves and double Gameweeks.

Following yesterday’s FA Cup victory for Chelsea, we’ve added their additional fixture with Southampton to give both teams a double Gameweek and this is now shown in RMT for the players involved. The likes of Daniel Sturridge, Demba Ba and Joe Cole have also been moved to their new clubs so you can start building them into your RMT lineups to see how they are predicted to fare in the coming weeks. We will be updating RMT throughout the week as more team news comes in and the FPL update their squads with new player arrivals and players have their departure to the African Cup of Nations confirmed. I’ll keep members posted on the major updates each week.

In terms of fixes and improvements, following feedback from those using the tool early on, we’ve changed the method of removing players in order to make the took compatible with mobile devices. There have also been fixes for Internet Explorer and Chrome users.

There are still some bugs remaining in the “My Team” section when building a team from scratch. We’re looking to eliminate those, although we do plan to re-write the UI code for next season, so we’re aware that, with the comments system development our focus, some improvements may be shelved until the summer.

Nevertheless, RMT is up and running and providing our members with a new method of testing their theories, future transfers and team selection. During these Winter Wildcard times, it’s hopefully providing a useful new guide.

If you’re not a member and would like some more information on Rate My Team and how it can help you, view our two part previews, with part one here, and part two via this link. Half-Season memberships remain available for £10 with full information on the benefits, in addition to RMT, available via this page.

One query that has been raised which, perhaps requires further explanation, is based on the My Team view which recommends players in your squad that should be benched as subs in each Gameweek. Some users have noticed that RMT sometimes recommends players to be benched, even though they are predicted to score more heavily than a player in your lineup.

This is because RMT uses a probability of a player playing in a given Gameweek to calculate the average score shown in the table. However, behind the scenes, RMT also looks at a player’s likely score assuming that the player takes part in the match – e.g: it ignores the possibility that the player plays zero minutes. On occasions when this value is greater, it overrides the displayed average points when it comes to recommending your starting XI. As an example, if Robin Van Persie was a major doubt for Gameweek 22, RMT could still recommend playing him above another striker in your squad, even though the value shown to the user in the RMT table might be lower. As we know, you would often play Van Persie in this scenario and let the auto-subs take care of the rest: this tactic is reflected as a feature in the tool.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

my first thought was to have Evra + Gibbs instead of Baines + Sagna. But Everton's fixtures are great (and WBA's as well) so i am thinking of keeping it like that and after 4 weeks to sell both and buy Evra and Nastasic. I saw Jones vs Fulham and he was extremely good. 4.4 is a great price so i wouldnt change him at least for the next great fixtures. I dont know if Ba and Demel are nailed on and i need them for both games...

I think it would be a good time to get rid of sterling with Rodgers' talk of Suarez being played out wide. Not sure what your sell price on him would be, but I'd go with bench fodder like guthrie/marveaux so you can give Nolan a legit upgrade after the DGW (may require losing one of Gibbs/Luiz after the DGW as well... I'm thinking to fund Bale)

there is also cash in Howard. Everton haven't kept a clean sheet for 15 straight games... Bunn is just as likely if not more to get clean sheets and saves and he is 1.5m cheaper

Get rid of Sterling. Wisdon won't keep his place. You don't need 3 Liverpool players.
Agree with the post below - I'm having a hard enough job keeping Baines so why have you got Howard?

Transfers make sense but I don't know about getting rid of Mata for one week. Santi seems to gone off the boil

My team for double gw’s so far no trades left no hits taken

    Foster, begovic

    Gibbs, azpy, Gunter, cuellar, Davies

    Mata, Walcott, Cazorla, morrisson, puncheon

    Rvp, Suarez, berb

0.1 short of Cazorla to bale so I was just going to take a hit to do to Cazorla to hazard, but really wanted bale for this game week. I am very tempted to wc after seeing all the strategies on here. What would you suggest after looking at my team? Can i wait till post ddgw? I will have 4 for this game week and then probably 3 for next with no hits

A hit to do Cuellar & Silva > Luiz & Mata once Weds is out of the way and there are no rises

    Leaves me with...

    Bunn Bego

    Baines Walker Luiz (Shorey Davies)

Mata (c) Punch Theo Michu (Sterling)

    RVP Pod Suarez

Will that be enough to get me through without the temptation of the WC...

Would an 8 point hit be too much for a DGW? Or is it allowed?

Thinking of getting in Sagna, Demel and Walcott next week.

Oh and another question if you could be so kind to respond...

Aguero > Lambert? The cheapness allows me flexibility even if he isn't the ideal striker to have given the Chelsea away game. Or I could go Benteke/Fletcher?

    Thanks

Benteke is a good pick. Involved in everything Villa do. Few of my mini league rivals have had him the last 3 weeks and it's burned me a little. Seems to be on penalties too. Not going to get him myself but he is a good player.
Not keen on Fletcher.. Angelo Henriquez could be a decent punt while Kone is away... Ferguson seems to think there's some class there.

Posted something earlier on the dgw23 teams -- their draws this weekend give them both very clogged fixtures, even worse if they both win (unlikely as that might be after their heartbreaks). Would be wary of hits for those teams, esp. defenders on tired teams since 2+ goals allowed would not be good.

Lambert is a much better call than Benteke or Fletcher this weekend -- you are replacing Aguero so you need to get massive potential in return.

It was missing for 11 days before it came home. Here's what I did:

            1) Flood your street and the surrounding streets with posters. Make sure you elucidate that a reward is on offer.

            2) Go up and down your street and shout out your cat's name. Bring along a can of dry cat food and shake it.

            3) Leave some traces of either its favourite food or some pieces of your hair outside the house.

Turnbull is safer, but you have no chance of attacking returns. I'm not a hit-happy player, but I just took a hit to get in Mata & Azpil (silva & cuellar out). Had no cash to play with though, otherwise I'd ideally want Ivan.

Defo... Evertons fixtures over the next 4 game weeks are very tasty. Hoping for a penalty or two. The fact that he's third highest defender and everton have only had 2 clean sheets goes to show what a points machine he could be if Everton tighten up at the back.

Ok guys messing around with the RMT application...

It prefers Fellaini fairly significantly in comparison to Michu. The move would give me an extra .3 in addition to this surely Fellaini after freeze us set for a few rises. After GW23 id be looking to downgrade Noble > Maloney possibly and Turnbull > Ceeny giving me 1.2m to play with.

Question is really if you had to choose one to keep would it be...

    A Michu
    B Swap Michu for Fellaini.

Apologies, asked this a few times tonight but haven't gathered enough opinions to feel comfortable making a move.

Nastasic -> Azpilicueta (-4). Have Turnbull for Chelsea defensive cover.

    Worth it?

I'd wait a while before doing the plunge.

If you think you'll stick with Azpili for the long term, it's worth doing for the dgw.

Anyone considering taking a punt on Fat Frank for the dgw?

    I'm toying with:

    A) RVP & Puncheon
    B) Lambert & Lamps - this would allow me to easily change lamps to either Walcott/Santi the following wk.

    Any thoughts?

so you're selling RVP to get Lamps? depends if you think RVP is worth the cash

Is it worth an extra hit (-8) to get Mata, instead of a Chelsea defender (-4) for this GW?

Yeh was thinking that, but I've already 3 arsenal, 1 chelsea & 1 Southampton as it stands, two wildcards left also, not sure if its a waste to use this week?

I slam dunked my first one in. 3 chelsea, 2 arsenal with one following next week. 1 whu and 1 southampton, plus all the regulars in midfield. Looking at decent solid long term gameweek scores

Hmmm really can't decide? - its so tempting to do the same, I've kinda got in into my head to take a hit -4 and get 3 chelsea defenders (captain one of them and hope)

Already have Luiz, ...thinking Azi and Turnbull in for Fed/Nasty exact same price, 2 clean sheets would give me 48pts right? lol

          "3 arsenal, 1 chelsea & 1 Southampton"...sounds a waste unless you've other issues

No. Mata will most likely be rested one of the games as FSW tries to keep Hazard, Mata, Oscar, Moses and Marin all happy!

Benitez's rotation is a joke..you don't see SAF resting RVP every 2 games and look who's top..

Hmmm even if he's plays against Stoke, can't imagine they'll score more than 2, and as you say might only play one game, really tempted to load up on 3 chelsea defenders for a -4

        cheers.

@ -98%, only 136 off the target, BUT only 7 transfers out since midnight. Depending on the accuracy, looks like he's not falling.
