The Rate My Team Tool (RMT) for members, rolled out on January 1, has been updated with some recent UI improvements, browser compatibility fixes and now also reflects the latest transfer moves and double Gameweeks.

Following yesterday’s FA Cup victory for Chelsea, we’ve added their additional fixture with Southampton to give both teams a double Gameweek and this is now shown in RMT for the players involved. The likes of Daniel Sturridge, Demba Ba and Joe Cole have also been moved to their new clubs so you can start building them into your RMT lineups to see how they are predicted to fare in the coming weeks. We will be updating RMT throughout the week as more team news comes in and the FPL update their squads with new player arrivals and players have their departure to the African Cup of Nations confirmed. I’ll keep members posted on the major updates each week.

In terms of fixes and improvements, following feedback from those using the tool early on, we’ve changed the method of removing players in order to make the took compatible with mobile devices. There have also been fixes for Internet Explorer and Chrome users.

There are still some bugs remaining in the “My Team” section when building a team from scratch. We’re looking to eliminate those, although we do plan to re-write the UI code for next season, so we’re aware that, with the comments system development our focus, some improvements may be shelved until the summer.

Nevertheless, RMT is up and running and providing our members with a new method of testing their theories, future transfers and team selection. During these Winter Wildcard times, it’s hopefully providing a useful new guide.

If you’re not a member and would like some more information on Rate My Team and how it can help you, view our two part previews, with part one here, and part two via this link. Half-Season memberships remain available for £10 with full information on the benefits, in addition to RMT, available via this page.

One query that has been raised which, perhaps requires further explanation, is based on the My Team view which recommends players in your squad that should be benched as subs in each Gameweek. Some users have noticed that RMT sometimes recommends players to be benched, even though they are predicted to score more heavily than a player in your lineup.

This is because RMT uses a probability of a player playing in a given Gameweek to calculate the average score shown in the table. However, behind the scenes, RMT also looks at a player’s likely score assuming that the player takes part in the match – e.g: it ignores the possibility that the player plays zero minutes. On occasions when this value is greater, it overrides the displayed average points when it comes to recommending your starting XI. As an example, if Robin Van Persie was a major doubt for Gameweek 22, RMT could still recommend playing him above another striker in your squad, even though the value shown to the user in the RMT table might be lower. As we know, you would often play Van Persie in this scenario and let the auto-subs take care of the rest: this tactic is reflected as a feature in the tool.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Just saw the Suarez goal for the 1st time. His reaction was one of knowing it was handball & thinking the referee called it & smashed the ball into the net. Pretty obvious all the same, sacked the referee. 😀

I’m really nervous about not having Bale for this GW.

Michu -> Bale for a hit and lose 0.4 value.
I’ve worked out my future transfer and it would mean I would have 3.8 def instead of Davies in my WC team – unless Wilson can be nailed on in 2 weeks time.

Someone convince me it’s not worth it?!

Hmm... but isn't it only we start determining the value of a stock when there is constant growth so in this case year 7? The next 6 years would be only retaining all of its earnings.

Honestly, in my opinion, I don't think Michu to Bale for a hit is worth it. You could almost just get the same amount of points from Michu.

Stoke have trickier fixtures for the next few but I'd want Bego back again when Cech is back.

It would cost me too much money, so I'm sticking with what I've got.

Yeap, Vorm>Turnbull would incur no value lost (unless you're expecting him rise higher than 5.5) But Stoke have trickier fixture. Hence, the dillema.

I'm planning to turn Turnbull into Federici tho'. Thougts?

Problem I see is your midfield is set up as 3-5-2 so by having 3 good strikers you are being a bit non-committal about your strategy. It's all well and good having great differentials like Sturridge and Dzeko but if you're going to bench one of them is it worth it?

Nothing wrong with some good ol' who to bench conundrums. More points potential if you make the right decisions and better to have a good haul on the bench than not own the player at all.

Im not too confident in our chances vs City, attack wise...so probably Walcott.
I guess I may be relying too much on injuries & suspensions as Ive had someone in my front 7 out of action for a while now. Points on the bench dont matter..just need to look at how many points I could be losing...mmm..

on the note of suarez and handballs, I know a lot of people hate him for it but tbh i thought his handball in the world cup was genius! was punished within the laws of the game so wasn't cheating, and he found a way to help his team progress. tell me you wouldn't do the same if you were in the same situation

Exactly. It wasn't cheating because he did it knowing he would be punished for it. Also the opponent players said after the game that they would've done the exact same thing. Yesterday's was also accidental, but he should've told the ref that it hit his hand.

Clyne's been injured so id say he's unlikely to play both or possibly either. Mata will play both IMO (the QPR game wiull still be fresh in the memory).

IMO he will play Ba and Torres in one game (I find it hard to belive benetez will bee able to resist the teptation to try it) and then one or the other in the second game, Ba is the most likely candidate to get both games.

      Reckon Azpi will play both.

Terry out for DGW.. Luiz needed in midfield.. leaves Just 2 CBs(Ivanovic and Cahill).. leaves just one RB who's cheaper than the entire back 4 and should logically be nailed on. go azpi

    A) Jaask / Azpi or
    B) Turnbull / Collins + 1.7m

Not convinced on Azpi being nailed down with Terry potentionally being back soon and the 1.7 million will go to good use

it has to be B doesn't it... ?

    is this the general consensus?
Mikel and Romeu OUT = Luiz nailed on in midfield
Luiz in midfield and Terry OUT = Cahill and Ivan nailed on at CB
Due to all of the above = Azpi nailed on at RB?
    therefore
Azpi Luiz Cahill Ivan and A.Cole all surely playin? minus the rafatation factor and that entire back 5 has equal chances of playin surely?

Alreet lads. Has the DGW hysteria calmed down yet? After we've had a couple of days to mull it over, what's the best strategy to go into the next couple of weeks? I can do:

    GW22: GJ + Santi > Luiz + Mata
    GW23: Mata/Bale > Santi

That would give me 2 x chelsea (luiz, mata) and 1 x southampton (puncheon) for this week and 2 x arsenal (walcott, santi) and 1 x west ham (O'Brian).

That would be for no hits. Are they the right moves? Worth taking any hits to get in more players?

If I took one hit this week, and got in turnbull for foster, and azi instead of luiz, I could do berba > pod for another hit next week. That would give me a total of 3 x chelsea, 3 x arsenal for a total of 8pts.

I did, yeah. Sorry haven't replied yet, but still can't get on gmail at work. I should be able to put something together for you once the window has closed. Similar style to the first one?

You still got Ba? I think that he could go mental. Even if he starts as back up to torres, it won't take long for him to prove that he is a much better option up front, so will play plenty of games. He scored so many goals for us, despite us creating very few chances. I dread to think how many he will score for chelsea. With his low price, i am strongly considering ignoring the fact that he will be benched some games. he should score enough in the games that he does play to make him a good option.

ok sounds great! yeah similar style to all the ones done pre-season

no, shipped him for suarez a while ago i think. I agree completely! i'm considering getting him though.

Hmmmmm. I would put money on Ba starting against stoke, and Torres starting against Southampton. I would only get in Ba this week if you think that Benitez will use the southampton game to try out 2 up front, or you think that he will have enough time to score well from the bench. I wouldn't personally get rid of suarez, but only because I will want him on my WC and would lose loads of money on him.

I would probably go for the one involving luiz, as i think he is much more likely to play the two games than any of the forward options.

see i'm hoping he'll try both against southampton. that or ba starts vs swans and then torres starts vs stoke and ba vs southampton.

will you lose loads of money on him? I think i'll only lose .1

hmmm. but how do you think he'll score. and that options means i'll lose .3 on walcott though and gives me one less ars player. and no ba who you seem to think will score well

Anyone else just getting mata for a defensive move, as 90% of active players will have and captain him? I think that he has no better than a 50:50 chance to start against southampton.

Before the DGW was announced I was going to do GJ + Sterling > Demel + Fellaini. I still think that there is a good chance that these transfers would work out better. Can't risk it though.

you are right, it's a risk you can't afford to take....

I think Mata will start both, can't risk a QPR repeat

How many of you're considering Carlton Cole for DGW?
