The Rate My Team Tool (RMT) for members, rolled out on January 1, has been updated with some recent UI improvements, browser compatibility fixes and now also reflects the latest transfer moves and double Gameweeks.

Following yesterday’s FA Cup victory for Chelsea, we’ve added their additional fixture with Southampton to give both teams a double Gameweek and this is now shown in RMT for the players involved. The likes of Daniel Sturridge, Demba Ba and Joe Cole have also been moved to their new clubs so you can start building them into your RMT lineups to see how they are predicted to fare in the coming weeks. We will be updating RMT throughout the week as more team news comes in and the FPL update their squads with new player arrivals and players have their departure to the African Cup of Nations confirmed. I’ll keep members posted on the major updates each week.

In terms of fixes and improvements, following feedback from those using the tool early on, we’ve changed the method of removing players in order to make the took compatible with mobile devices. There have also been fixes for Internet Explorer and Chrome users.

There are still some bugs remaining in the “My Team” section when building a team from scratch. We’re looking to eliminate those, although we do plan to re-write the UI code for next season, so we’re aware that, with the comments system development our focus, some improvements may be shelved until the summer.

Nevertheless, RMT is up and running and providing our members with a new method of testing their theories, future transfers and team selection. During these Winter Wildcard times, it’s hopefully providing a useful new guide.

If you’re not a member and would like some more information on Rate My Team and how it can help you, view our two part previews, with part one here, and part two via this link. Half-Season memberships remain available for £10 with full information on the benefits, in addition to RMT, available via this page.

One query that has been raised which, perhaps requires further explanation, is based on the My Team view which recommends players in your squad that should be benched as subs in each Gameweek. Some users have noticed that RMT sometimes recommends players to be benched, even though they are predicted to score more heavily than a player in your lineup.

This is because RMT uses a probability of a player playing in a given Gameweek to calculate the average score shown in the table. However, behind the scenes, RMT also looks at a player’s likely score assuming that the player takes part in the match – e.g: it ignores the possibility that the player plays zero minutes. On occasions when this value is greater, it overrides the displayed average points when it comes to recommending your starting XI. As an example, if Robin Van Persie was a major doubt for Gameweek 22, RMT could still recommend playing him above another striker in your squad, even though the value shown to the user in the RMT table might be lower. As we know, you would often play Van Persie in this scenario and let the auto-subs take care of the rest: this tactic is reflected as a feature in the tool.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Snake / Vets, help solve my front 3 conundrum. Currently have Rvp, Berbatov, Suarez.

    RvP - undroppable
Berbatov - home to Wigan, in good form, can't drop him
Suarez - form of his life

I am just worried about not owning Ba given his high (and rising) ownership % as well as the potential for explosion vs. Southampton at home.

    Thoughts?

I've never had him. I don't see him as a good pick this year. Ba is likely to get more than 90 minuted over the 2 games. Would rather a Chelsea striker with that over a Fulham one no matter who they are facing.

I'm not sure it's just the DGW...people saw what he did in one game for Chelsea against Southampton. He looks a good prospect to casuals everywhere. Second top striker in FPL and he's just joined Chelsea...I can see the appeal...even if it is a little naive.

He was getting loads of transfers in before the DGW was even announced.

      Bego/Mignolet
      Williamson, OBrien, Hughes, Cameron, Davies
      Fellaini, Mata, Walcott, Michu, Puncheon

Thinking of swapping Mignolet and Williamson for Cuellar and Turnbull?

On a WC is it worth bringing Turnbull for the DGW (other keeper is Bego), I have 0.5 left in the bank, so once sold I'd have 4.8 to get another keeper.

Here's my wiggity wildcard: Worried about lack of Fellaini and the difficulty I will have squeezing Aguero/Suarez back in when the time comes, but reasonably happy:

    Szcz Bunn

    Baines Luiz Davies Demel Mariappa

    Mata Bale Walcott Nolan Punch

    RVP Berbs Benteke

    Please rate my WCT:

    Begovic, £3.9m

    Nelsen, Sagna, Demel, Azpilicueta, Collins

    Mata, Michu, Bale, Walcott, Fellaini

    RVP, Ba, Berbatov

Then for GW23 take -4 hit to do this:

    Out: Berba & Azpi
    In: Giroud/Podolski & Cameron

Hey guys- newbie question - not sure what to do with my wildcard but have come up with this and would appreciate some experienced advice - here is my team for next week (wildcard active):

    Jussi

    Azpilicueta (vc), Harte, Shaw
    Puncheon, Walcott, Mata (c), Michu
    Lambert, RVP, Suarez

Subs: Begovic, Joe Cole, Cameron, O'Brien

Then GW23 - Azpa and Lambert for Gibbs and Podolski.

    What do you guys think?

    NB- azpa or ivanovic?
    Joe cole or Noble?

That's a decent team. I wouldn't go with Joe Cole though, I'd say Nolan might be a better bet. The thing is it's hard to say whether Coke will play both matches, and although Nolan is having a lean spell he's still their top scorer this season I think. The plan for GW23 sounds fine if that's 2fts. Good luck

Azpilizueta - Luiz is needed in midfield with Romeu/Mikel not available and Terry's not even training yet so Ivan will play CB, leaving Azpi to play RB.

Mata - rested against QPR and we all know how that went, surely Rafa can't rest his best player again?

Probs will have Ba as well but think he'll get about 100-120 mins.
