Martyniak Claims FPL Crown

Congratulations go to Matt Martyniak who, on a dramatic final day, claimed the Fantasy Premier League crown by just three points after the Gameweek 38 bonus points settled matters.

Matt, a veteran Fantasy Premier League manager, has competed in the game since the 2006/07 season and had previously recorded an impressive finish of 707th back in 2007/08. A recent arrival in the Scout community, he was just two points behind Kelvin Travers, another Scout league member, at the end of 90 minutes. However, it was the bonus points from Liverpool’s 1-0 win over QPR that proved decisive. Matt earned a total of five points via his Gameweek 38 signing, Philppe Coutinho, and left-back Jose Enrique which eventually saw him topple Kelvin at the summit.

That pairing ended the season topping our classic league with Evs finishing third and fifth overall and former leader, Julian Zipparo in fourth and sixth in the overall rankings.

Congratulations again to Matt and all our Scout League members who enjoyed such successful FPL campaigns and to all our FPL managers who helped to make the community so active, knowledgable and friendly.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Hi lads 1.6 k in the end - funny I'm a slight bit dissapointed cos I felt I shoulda made top 1k but I got into bed with 2 city strikers gw 36 and ditched Rvp - wtf was I thinking ?
    But still from my standards a fab achievement and I also won the LAWR cup and my LAWR league and hit 13 greens in a row - so onwards and upwards but gonna be hard to beat this !
    Thanks to all on scout and those who make this possible it's been a brilliant season.

    All these montages have got me feeling all sentimental!

    A frustrating FPL season, but a great one all the same. I'll learn from my mistakes and I think every season I learn a little bit more about the best strategy.

    I hope everyone drops by in the summer, I'll miss the RMTs and the banter and all of you guys, and I really hope everyone is back for the start of next season.

    At the start of every season, you know that there will be drama, great goals, incredible performances and FFS cult heroes. I can't wait to find out how 2013/14 pans out.

      Don't worry by July we'll have the usual panic as grown men sweat over when FPL will launch the game and what prices everyone will be. Then there's a solid month of random pie in the sky RMTs with a couple of bizarre choices thrown in which are probably started out as jokes but take on a life of their own as they soon appear in 50% of the RMTs.

    55 transfers this season, a lot more than last season yet done better. getting there, a few more years and i'll be... still between 1k - 3k.

        Ugh.. I HATE international breaks, even if there is an England game on! I'm not really interested in international games, unless it's a World Cup or the Euros. At least next year the break will be filled by the 2014 world Cup. Crikey.. South Africa 2010 doesn't seem that long ago, with the vuvuzelas and Mick McCarthy's monotonous commentating drone blending into one hypnotic cacophony! Hopefully time goes as quickly, this summer! 🙂

    Evening, and for the last time this season, pardon the lengthy post.

    Congratulations to Triggalicious, who won the Bataan death march also known as Deadzone Bracketology with his unsung selection of Bryan Ruiz making it through 6 consecutive gameweeks to topple the favored Leighton Baines in the Finals in GW38. His assist today sealed it as another bland Everton performance meant only 1 point for Baines, who was not able to get a PK for any late game theatrics.

    And, in a turn of nostalgia, a few of us partook once again in a round of weekly Deadzone Drafting last night. Pepin the Mighty became the only repeat champion with Nolan's hat trick giving him the win in style, though our scores overall were higher than any other gw, I think.

    Thanks to all who played -- it's a great jolt at the end of a long week pondering moves and debating hits, and a nice way to get alternatives into your fold, even if they are only temporary.

      It would have been Michu, had he not got injured before the Wigan game. His hamstring injury forced my hand as it did look like that was the end of his season, only for him to make it back against United, and even score a goal!

    Logged out 5 hours ago, despondent... My Shelvey differential for 4pt hit backfired spectacularly. Down by 4pts in ML before BAPS. I knew i would make up 3pts with Bale but he would extend it back to 4pts with Coutinho 3pt bonus...

    Logged in now and couldnt understand what i was seeing... Diaspora #1...

    Coutinho getting 2bps instead of 3 and Sagna and Berbs going runner, runner for 2bps each... meant that i won my ML by 1pt... OMFG... What a finish...

    Fell short at the last hurdle and finished second in Japan. But a healthy win in my main ML and a top 500 finish so very happy with the season.

    Surged from 22+K to 4.5K in last eight GWs -- all through taking 40 pts in hits vs only 28 total in gw 1-30. The takeaway should be that I'm a fortunate man but am probably not going to learn that lesson and will be a drunken sailor next year instead.

          I regreted joining a few times.
          I remember not taking hits to get Michu and JE in for Liv-Swa DGW and not getting Sturridge for a hit last week.
          Still those were my decisions and have only myself to blame. Site is great, usefull and fun.

    Interesting season for me, started off very badly but managed to pull it around! With a GW rank of 1.17 mil i managed to pull it down to 120k last week but ended off at 126k. Still it has been a great season and also a learning experience for me in my first season! Thanks guys for all the help in this site! This site is amazing and i also enjoyed listening to all the podcasts and scout reports written! Kudos for all the hard work done by Mark and his team! 😀 Enjoy your summer and see you guys next season!

    Bitter end to the season for me. Coutinho goal not recognized (who i got instead of Nolan btw), Bale screamer in the 89th minute, Walcott hitting the post in extra time. Either of these things change and i win my minileague. Feel hard done by. Actually glad its over. GG to all of you`s.

    It's been great fun this FPL, I'm glad that I finally joined this year. My mid-season rank was around 700K. Then I started paying more attention, got a bit of luck, and frequented this site. I ended up winning my ML (narrowly), and finished with a rank of 42K.

    A big thanks for all the ideas on offer here, as well as for all the encouragement. Already looking forward to next season. If I start properly, 10K should be achievable. I guess that means that I'll have a few months to come up with a decent grav!
