Our Friday lunchtime regular is rolled out once more as we scour the PlayON Player Price List ahead of tomorrow’s 10.45am deadline. We’ll be offering a couple of picks per position this term, with an essential weekend target and a left-field alternative for your consideration.

It’s also worth noting that, as of today, PlayON have launched daily Fantasy games. In addition to the usual weekly game, you can now pick teams just from players featuring each day. There’s a £500 Guaranteed Pot for both Saturday and Sunday this weekend and a £1,000 Guaranteed Pot for the full Gameweek.

Goalkeeper – Brad Guzan
Aston Villa have racked up back-to-back clean sheets in their opening two matches and this defensive solidity looks poised to continue as Hull pay visit on Sunday. Guzan is a big reason for the shut outs so far and the kindly priced American (7.4m) could offer good value against a Tigers side that scored just 18 times on their travels last term. A slightly more expensive option is Wojciech Szczesny. Available for 8.0m, the Pole offers a cheap route into an obstinate Arsenal back line that travel to Leicester this weekend and, as demonstrated in the Champions League play-off win over Besiktas, his shot-stopping potential could be key as the Gunners seek their first league shut-out of the campaign.

Defender – Daryl Janmaat
The Newcastle full-back offers points potential at both ends of the pitch ahead of a home encounter with Crystal Palace. Janmaat looks a bargain at only 7.7m and, as evidenced by his five assists and two goals in 30 Eredivisie appearances for Feyenoord last season, offers plenty of attacking intent against an Eagles side still in a transitional period under new manager Neil Warnock. Manchester City’s home clash with Stoke at the Etihad is impossible to overlook and brings Aleksandar Kolarov into contention as our defensive punt. While City skipper Vincent Kompany is available for 9.3m, the left-back takes up just 8.0m of your budget – having been benched for Monday’s match with Liverpool, his attacking intent could well get the nod against the Potters, for those willing to roll the dice.

Midfielder – Nacer Chadli
It’s not often you can acquire a player who scored two goals in the previous round of fixtures for just 7.7m. Chadli looks to have been handed a new lease of life under Mauricio Pochettino and will fancy his chances of continuing that form against Liverpool’s shaky rearguard as Tottenham welcome the Merseysiders to White Hart Lane this Sunday. We turn to Manchester City again for the next midfield pick. While Yaya Toure hasn’t scored or assisted yet this season, the Ivorian has still been heavily involved in the champions’ build up play and could finally reap reward against the travel-sick Potters. With so much uncertainty surrounding the pitch time of City’s front men, Toure, at 10.0m, is a cheaper option that – injuries aside – will surely feature from start to finish against Mark Hughes’ side.

Forward – Wilfried Bony
Another Ivorian who is yet to net this season. In spite of his drought, Bony has still managed to deliver the points reasonably well so far in PlayON and, at a favourably priced 9.8m, could finally get his goal account up and running against West Brom at the Liberty. With Olivier Giroud facing a period on the sidelines, we turn to Alexis Sanchez for Arsenal’s trip to Leicester. The Chilean has started the last two matches up front for the Gunners and notched the midweek winner over Besiktas – at 10.5m in PlayON this week, he could be poised to plunder a Foxes defence that has afforded their opponents 21 shots inside the box in the opening two Gameweeks.

The New Arrivals
It’s also worth noting a trio of high-profile additions to the top-flight over the last few days. PlayON have handed Angel de Maria a 9.1m price tag for United’s trip to Burnley, while Mario Balotelli sets you back just 10.4m as Liverpool make their way to the Lane. Everton new boy Samuel Eto’o takes up just 9.8m of your budget as he welcomes former club Chelsea to Goodison Park and could be in line for an immediate start if Romelu Lukaku fails to recover from an ongoing toe problem.

    Killian here from http://www.playon.co

Today we launched PlayON Daily Games so in addition to our weekly game, you can now pick teams from players playing each day, with the team picking deadline at 2 hours before the first match each day.

To celebrate, we have a £500 Guaranteed Pot for the Saturday and Sunday daily games this weekend and we also have a £1,000 Guaranteed Pot on offer for Gameweek 3.

If you have any questions about the article above or about PlayON in general, just add them as replies below and I will answer them all

Just a bit of feedback for you, for me, the more options available the less likely I am to play.

With a variety of fantasy games on offerr, its good to have a clear understanding of what each one is.

For me, daily games, being able to bet on other peoples teams etc etc just muddies the water, I liked it when the proposition was clearer.

        Thanks GiggingOrder,

That's a fair point. You can still just play the weekly game - we haven't changed that at all - but our goal when setting up PlayON was to create the best fantasy football experience possible and we feel that the addition of daily games, in-play games and being able to use other teams once they are locked gets PlayON closer to this goal and hopefully gives people who play the games lots of choice rather than mudding the water. But your point is fair - I think we need to be clearer about how we communicate the various options. Thanks for the feedback - we appreciate it

Might try out the daily games, they could be a good idea for people who want quick returns on their bets. I agree that the concept of being able to use other player's teams is not great but if it does not effect other game modes that is fine.

Keep up the good work, new ideas are always fun!

You are right that I am talking about highest GW scorers but they would also have been the best captain choices if you had captained them. That is not to say either were best captain choices prior to the matches.

        1. Dogba
          • 13 Years
          11 years, 10 months ago

No point assessing best captain choices -after- matches, 20/20 hindsight. Gotta go with what you know.

I see your point though, Tottenham players have had some good FPL performances. They're at home. I'm tipping Ade and Eriksen for big scores this GW, Eriksen has been "unlucky" according to the stats at least 🙂

            • 12 Years
            11 years, 10 months ago

No one is assessing captain choices, I was merely making the point that the two highest point scorers in GW1 and GW2 and hence would have been the best people to captain, have both played for Spurs. I then asked could they make it 3 in a row.

If it were me I'd be doing

Caulker, Hazard, Silva, Costa --> Coloccini, Tadic, Sanchez, Aguero

(yes, I know a Newcastle def double-up is risky, but those fixtures look good and Colo is a bap magnet). Chelsea aren't gonna score heaps in the next 8 GWs but Sanchez and Aguero might. Might think about De Jong instead of Tadic but that's too many Newcastle even for me!

Wildcard played. any glaring omissions from this team? Also any captain advice would be appreciated, I'm really hesitant to captain Aguero as I doubt he'll start. It's sitting on sturridge atm as he will be a threat in the game vs spurs. Gone for 2 big defenders with 3 rotating 4.0s:

    Courtois

    Lovren - Kompany - Dummet

    Sterling - Fabregas - Siggy - Ramsey

    Aguero - Sturridge (c) - Naismith

    Myhill / King / Wisdom / Duff

Personally, I wouldn't be giving one of my designated "big defender" spots to Lovren until Pool show they can keep a CS.

Otherwise it looks pretty solid... maybe see if you can scrounge 0.5 to get one of your 4m defenders up to a more nailed 4.5er?

don't mind the courtois option but for an extra 0.5 you can get terry/cahill who will score a few goals and earn extra bonus points?
will naismith play as much with eto'o at the club?
i would downgrade lovren personally, not trusting 'pool defence right now. even debuchy at the same price is probably safer

    Little help please?

    Begovic
    Terry, PvA, Debuchy
    Ramsey, Sterling, Fábregas, Sigurdsson
    Costa, Jovetic, Rooney(c)

    (Gilks, Wisdom, Boyd, S.Taylor)

    £0.5 & 2FT

Bench is bad so too Costa doubt.
    Bego > Krul worth it?
    Costa > Ade?

I like baps. Which is why I have Rooney (c) as well.

Team looks great, not much to do. Stoke have great fixtures, not sure I'd ditch just yet.

Obviously wait for Costa news. If he's looking like he won't start, Costa -> Ade sounds good. If not, maybe look at Wisdom -> someone longer-term 4.0?

Maybe Sturridge to Jove/Ade and Hendo to Sterling?
