Our Friday lunchtime regular is rolled out once more as we scour the PlayON Player Price List ahead of tomorrow’s 10.45am deadline. We’ll be offering a couple of picks per position this term, with an essential weekend target and a left-field alternative for your consideration.

It’s also worth noting that, as of today, PlayON have launched daily Fantasy games. In addition to the usual weekly game, you can now pick teams just from players featuring each day. There’s a £500 Guaranteed Pot for both Saturday and Sunday this weekend and a £1,000 Guaranteed Pot for the full Gameweek.

Goalkeeper – Brad Guzan
Aston Villa have racked up back-to-back clean sheets in their opening two matches and this defensive solidity looks poised to continue as Hull pay visit on Sunday. Guzan is a big reason for the shut outs so far and the kindly priced American (7.4m) could offer good value against a Tigers side that scored just 18 times on their travels last term. A slightly more expensive option is Wojciech Szczesny. Available for 8.0m, the Pole offers a cheap route into an obstinate Arsenal back line that travel to Leicester this weekend and, as demonstrated in the Champions League play-off win over Besiktas, his shot-stopping potential could be key as the Gunners seek their first league shut-out of the campaign.

Defender – Daryl Janmaat
The Newcastle full-back offers points potential at both ends of the pitch ahead of a home encounter with Crystal Palace. Janmaat looks a bargain at only 7.7m and, as evidenced by his five assists and two goals in 30 Eredivisie appearances for Feyenoord last season, offers plenty of attacking intent against an Eagles side still in a transitional period under new manager Neil Warnock. Manchester City’s home clash with Stoke at the Etihad is impossible to overlook and brings Aleksandar Kolarov into contention as our defensive punt. While City skipper Vincent Kompany is available for 9.3m, the left-back takes up just 8.0m of your budget – having been benched for Monday’s match with Liverpool, his attacking intent could well get the nod against the Potters, for those willing to roll the dice.

Midfielder – Nacer Chadli
It’s not often you can acquire a player who scored two goals in the previous round of fixtures for just 7.7m. Chadli looks to have been handed a new lease of life under Mauricio Pochettino and will fancy his chances of continuing that form against Liverpool’s shaky rearguard as Tottenham welcome the Merseysiders to White Hart Lane this Sunday. We turn to Manchester City again for the next midfield pick. While Yaya Toure hasn’t scored or assisted yet this season, the Ivorian has still been heavily involved in the champions’ build up play and could finally reap reward against the travel-sick Potters. With so much uncertainty surrounding the pitch time of City’s front men, Toure, at 10.0m, is a cheaper option that – injuries aside – will surely feature from start to finish against Mark Hughes’ side.

Forward – Wilfried Bony
Another Ivorian who is yet to net this season. In spite of his drought, Bony has still managed to deliver the points reasonably well so far in PlayON and, at a favourably priced 9.8m, could finally get his goal account up and running against West Brom at the Liberty. With Olivier Giroud facing a period on the sidelines, we turn to Alexis Sanchez for Arsenal’s trip to Leicester. The Chilean has started the last two matches up front for the Gunners and notched the midweek winner over Besiktas – at 10.5m in PlayON this week, he could be poised to plunder a Foxes defence that has afforded their opponents 21 shots inside the box in the opening two Gameweeks.

The New Arrivals
It’s also worth noting a trio of high-profile additions to the top-flight over the last few days. PlayON have handed Angel de Maria a 9.1m price tag for United’s trip to Burnley, while Mario Balotelli sets you back just 10.4m as Liverpool make their way to the Lane. Everton new boy Samuel Eto’o takes up just 9.8m of your budget as he welcomes former club Chelsea to Goodison Park and could be in line for an immediate start if Romelu Lukaku fails to recover from an ongoing toe problem.

Im still sitting on giroud and 2 ft's. I know Jovetic is the obvious choice. But will he actually start?
What percentage chance do u give him? If I get 5 comments saying 95 or higher I'll do it. What have other giroud owners done?

why would he not start? scored a brace and Pellegrini spoke about Aguero and "how many minutes" he'll give him. Also Dzeko not exactly lit the EPL on fire the first 2 games. it's over a span of 10 games that you got worry how many minutes jovetic will get

    WC team currently stuck on:

    Krul
    Ivan Clyne PVA
    Cesc Rambo Mata Sterling Siggy
    Aguero Jovetic
    Elliot Naismith Wisdom Hutton
    0.7m banked

Long term, I absolutely know I will want Sanchez & Ade in the team, and probably Hazard if i can.
    Rambo/Siggy/Sterling are untouchable.

well, prices are falling on my watchlist targets and rising on the incumbents. and short term fixtures favour Mata/Jovetic.

            12 years, 1 month ago

Really? Confident on Ramsey? I know he's scored in both gameweeks but is a big gamble when I've got those forwards, could pay off though, even thinking De Jong! lol.

You'll be tearing your hair out if both RVP and Aguero get subbed around the hour mark. RVP especially is a really poor pick. See his average position against Sunderland

This is true I guess, yeah I looked into the info from where he played during the Sunderland game, was more or less behind Mata even! haha.

then again it was only one game, dusting the cobwebs off. Hmm, I may take the plunge, unsure as yet, Ramsey is a great shout though thanks.

No problem, kun is the better choice though based on the high risk, high reward principle. Even if he comes of the bench he is likely to score. Here is how I would rate the three options this week:

                  1) Rambo
                  2) Aguero
                  3) RVP

    Thoughts on this WC team?

    Krul, Gilks
    Clyne, Coloccini, Dummett, Hutton, Wisdom

Not just one game though. He was by far and away their leading scorer in pre-season, and had more shots on goal than any other striker in GW1, bar Rooney. He also had a stellar history at Fiorentina.

Of course, just like any player he could blank this week, but the 'love' is based on much more than just his brace last week.

Thanks for lack of replies, this is a REPOST.

    How does this team look?

    Krul

    Terry, Amat, Hutton,

    Ramsey (VC), Mata, Siggy, Fabregas

    Sturridge, Rooney, Jovetic (C)

    (Gilks, Moore, Wisdom, Isgrove)

    1. HUMZAH96

Yeah, looks ok. Basically, the team picks itself.

  18. diabydoesgallas

Torn between captaining sturridge and Aguero. If Aguero starts he should outscore sturridge comfortably, but it's a big if, and coming on for 1pt is not what you want from your captain! Sturridge has a tough fixture but should be pool's main attacking outlet throughout, and play the 90. Thoughts?

    1. gravless
      12 years, 1 month ago

      there is no choice IMO

      Sturridge

Aguero doesn't come on from the bench and score 1 point tho. I have captained him and I don't mind wether he starts or not. I would prefer him to start but he will score if he comes on kate due to stoke's tried legs.

      1. Dr Dream
        12 years, 1 month ago

Yep...but then he's abit wishy washy for minutes tomorrow. Having said that I'm sure Pells's emphasis will be on building match fitness now rather that giving him a rest...

      Too short term for me

    5. Bubz
      12 years, 1 month ago

Then he continues to play for one of the highest goalscoring teams in the league who can score against anyone

      1. Dr Dream
        12 years, 1 month ago

So you think Jovetic and Aguero is his favoured pairing Bubz ?...could be..

        1. Bubz
          12 years, 1 month ago

Well there's no reason for it not to be if Jovetic keeps playing the way he is. Even in his so-called poor game against Newcastle he was working extremely hard and trying to make things happen. Also, he's a bit more versatile than Dzeko isn't he? Could play behind Aguero in a no.10 type role with Aguero as lone striker? Who knows, guess we'll just have to see how it pans out.

          1. Dr Dream
            12 years, 1 month ago

Dzeko is very wasteful...I don't rate him that highly tbh. Also. We tend to forget that Jovetic was Pell's signing and he never got chance to show why he bought him really, not in terms of pitch time with/or Aguero (?)...Like you say I suppose we'll have to see what happens.
On another aspect I really can't see Pell flogging Aguero too much in both the PL and CL... he simply isn't up to it physically, for whatever reason. He just can't hide from that fact anymore

            1. Bubz
              12 years, 1 month ago

Yeah, I think Pelle has learned his lesson with Aguero now. And pardoning the old cliche but Jovetic is like a new signing this season, he looks decent, and has a great record at his old club. Pelle obviously likes him, and as long as he's performing I don't see why he shouldn't keep starting. The problem is that none of the City strikers are guaranteed 90 minutes. It is quite frightening how they also have Negredo in the background too. Ridiculous squad.

        2. Transient Anus
          12 years, 1 month ago

Don't see why not. Form should be the deciding factor

    6. Transient Anus

But, yes. He's a very short-term pick. Possibly even a 1 week punt. Most will shift for Adebayor or any new forward that pops up I suppose.

Have you had a look at Zarate, Wakey?

      1. Dr Dream
        12 years, 1 month ago

I'm waiting until after those Chelsea/Arsenal fixtures to get in City players.. players on other teams can score points too and I don't want to bother with rotation risks just yet

good point - bringing Jovetic in this GW will at least mean a double transfer after the intl break if one wants to upgrade to Kun. Unless going with both, which is in now way a bad idea, but after fixtures against Arsenal/Chelsea.

same for all man city strikers really.
on the whole i dont think he has a preferred pairing, it's simply a full fit aguero +1, and the +1 is simply the form striker. we can't predict that form, only react to it in short term bursts. will always feel uncomfortable when team sheets come, risk reward
