Our next members article assessing the previous season takes a look at Sunderland’s campaign, with most of the focus on the impact of new manager, Dick Advocaat.

Following a 4-0 defeat to Aston Villa in March, the Dutchman replaced Gus Poyet at the helm, with his side sitting 17th in the league, just a single point clear of the relegation places. Advocaat guided the Black Cats to a 16th-place finish, after picking up three wins and three draws from their final nine matches, with their survival clinched in Gameweek 37 after a goalless draw at the Emirates. After initially turning down an offer to stay on at the Stadium of Light, the Dutchman signed a one-year deal to remain in the North East.

Would not be sure on Bellerin tbh, Debuchy will probably play if 100%... AFC Right back this season might be tough in FPL, think it will be some rotation.

Kosc and Mert 100% nailed though, Wenger havn't split them up even on pre-season almost. Have played Gabriel and Chambers together and Mertescielny together.

My best guess for the start is

        40 / 60% on Bellerin / Debuchy
        100% Kocs
        100% Mert
        70 / 30 Monreal / Gibbs

/Gunner who have seen ALL matchers and friendlies for the last couple of years

    Schmeichel (Schwarzer)
    Azpi Kosc Huth (Oshea Baker)
    Fab Ozil Depay Sterling Hendo
    Rooney Benteke (Wilson)

    Rooney Giroud Deeney

      Would take Özil before cazorla.

Cazorla is getting pushed abit lower in the field, and Özil is getting more offensive freedom judging from pre-season. I don't see it as impossible as Cazorla playing deep laying playmaker when Coq is injured. Caz will definitely play deeper than usual beside Coq against tougher oppositions with less freedom to roam.

Caz and Özil might take about the same amout of freekicks, but Caz more penalties, with Özil on corners and lofted freekicks in to the penalty area

Hi all, this is my first go at fantasy football and I thought it would be so easy to pick a side... How wrong was I! Could someone rate my team please, thanks in advance.
    Pants (Boric)

    Mertesacker, Azpi, Clyne, PVA (O'Shea)

    Chadli, Hazard, Cazorla (Henderson, Wanyama)

    Costa, Giroud, Wilson

Considering Chadli for yaya and Costa for Kane. No plans for aguero as yet.

Not bad, but too much on GK imo - You can find good rotation for 9 or if you want to play only one GK than downgrade Boruc to 4.0

I wouldn't take Clyne for 5,5 - Sakho is cheaper if you want LIV. Defence alltogether is quite expensive 26,5 mln. too much for me.

So Bournemouth are going to carry on playing how they did in the Championship, attacking football. Sounds like they'll concede a few. Francis may get the odd attacking returns, but I can't see many CSs for him.

    7. Ludo

Attacking football in this case is misleading - its a byword for possession football.

They have a fairly small ground, and spent most of the season pinning the opposition back in their own half- their clean sheets had more to do with that than their particular defensive qualities.

And actually, this approach still leads to clean sheets in the top flight. Swansea and Southampton since they came up in recent years are the example to follow, and we all know that they have been two of the most reliable sides around for clean sheets - possession football leads to shutting out poor opposition, but can also mean cricket scores against the big teams, because being forced to do all the defending comes as quite a shock.

I think they'll get the odd thumping (which in a way is good for us, guiding captaincy choices), but their early home games suggest a decent chance of clean sheets to me.

Kane for £9.5m? Everyone seems put off due to end of season form. It's clear he was just absolutely knackered. He'll be good to go at OT next Saturday morning. I'm expecting him to get off the mark with a goal. If he recreates anything near 191 points then £9.5m will be a bargain.

Thought on this defense line for a 3-4-3 formation?

    Panti (+4.0)
    Shaw - Alderweireld - Cedric - Huth - (Targett)

First five GW gives (gk - def def def):

    lei - TOT SUN new
    NOR - avl STO EVE
    SWA - NEW lei wat
    avl - swa bou NOR
    TOT - LIV sun AVL

Is this attractive compared to others?
    Any suggestions for a better GK/DEF-line for a total of £33.0 ?
    Thoughts appreciated 🙂

    Cheers 🙂

too well balanced - no exit in case of Aguero imo. Unless you get rid of Walcott and Ronney - but that give you only 6,5.

A thought on the following would be welcomed

    Ruddy - Rudd
    Ivanovic - 5.5/5.0 - Martin - 4.5 - Targett
    10.0/11.5 - Walcott - Milner - Ritchie - 5.0/4.5
    Costa - Rooney - 6.5/8.0

    Currently on:
    Shaw and M.Richards
    Silva and Wanyama
    Lukaku

    Thanks in advance

Kane is a premium category forward priced as a mid category player, yet no one wants him. Mindset seems to be that he is an expensive version of Benteke . Yet. Spurs have the better fixtures and Kane has more explosive potential. Question is why is there no love for Kane?

I think in a decent team there is space for 2 premium Fwds and 1 cheap forward...

So for the premium forwards people have an option Rooney, Costa, Aguero, Kane, Giroud, Sturridge...out of these 4 would you pick Kane?

    2. Piggs Boson

Rooney and Costa are the reason imo.

Add to the fact that he's nailed on, on penalties, main striker for a top 4 chasing club who don't have too many other goalscoring players!

    First RMT of the year:

    Schmeichel
    Ivanovic / Bellerín / Cédric
    Sterling / Walcott / Cazorla / Hazard
    Sakho / Benteke / Lukaku

    Schwarzer / Wanyama / Kaboul / Burke

Just a few weeks with Lukaku & Sterling making way for Aguero + £6m MF

I don't like to rotate - find points on the bench more often than not when I've tried it. Bench is there as backup for injuries/supensions.

Is anyone totally against Walcott? Despite his explosiveness are we overlooking the fact that he may well get half the playing time of Ozil/Caz/Rambo?

It would be helpful if the gravless got gravs. I know not all of them just come on here to post RMTs so it would be helpful if those who actually did more than just RMTs could get a grav. That way we can distinguish between the good and evil!

Feeling OK about latest draft. Ive one of the key playmakers from eaxh of the top 7 teams....ignoreing Spurs, alongside Arse and Chels defenders. Main compromise being stuck with 2 Noriwch goalies and a punt on Deeney. Id wildcard to get Kun in if needed. Views?

    Rudd / Ruddy
    Merts / Azpil / Huth / O'Shea / Ward
    Hazard / Sterling / Mane / Walcott / Wanyama
    Rooney / Benteke / Deeney

A strong side! May I suggest downgrading Mane to Chadli and then upgrading O'Shea to someone who is more nailed. Perhaps PVA, Cedric or Ashely Williams.

Chadli is an option as Doos says below. I though O'Shea was nailed. Will need to ponder that one.

I know. Its a lottery in GW1 so these are the 4 to 6 GW view. Yes Tadic could outscore Mane, Milner over Rooney etc in GW1 but its a view. Chadli is in about a dozen of my drafts as his stats are good so long as Poch plays him which he should. One to ponder.

Pre ranking projections should give you same help
Also look for the positioning tha allows more points, normally Mids in Football drafts leagues
