This was meant to be the day that would see talent from the north London clubs cause tremors in the Fantasy Premier League ranks and market place. Instead, both Spurs and Arsenal fell flat – to varying degrees of disaster.

Harry Kane had the opportunity to transform the Fantasy Football landscape. Not only could he have buried the August goal hoodoo, but he could also have delivered points for the 16.1% who captained him to capitalise on the failings of others – including Romelu Lukaku’s zero point score.

Once again he blanked. Once again the numbers he produced defied belief.

Kane had ten attempts on goal, seven from inside the box. For the second match running, he has surpassed his personal record for the number of shots in a single Premier League match without scoring.

This season Kane has fired just 25% of his efforts on target with a zero conversion rate. His rates for both in 2016/17 were 52% and 26% respectively.

According to certain statistical models, he should have 2.5 goals by now. But he hasn’t. He’s got nothing, and he’s being ushered out of FPL squads at a pace.

To compound matters, both Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata and Roberto Firmino of Liverpool provided goal and assist returns with maximum bonus to overtake Lukaku in the forward standings.

They provide an obvious exit route for those left feeling decidedly uneasy about Kane’s extraordinary three-match drought.

Dismissing talk of the August “curse”, there is perhaps another reason behind this sorry spell: maybe Spurs really are destined to struggle at Wembley.

We have just two “home” matches to go on – the first against the champions Chelsea, while it should also be noted that Spurs only edged out Burnley 2-1 at White Hart Lane last season.

However, there is building momentum behind the theory that Mauricio Pochettino’s men could lack intensity and that sides will raise their game on visiting Wembley.

With Swansea City and Bournemouth the next two opponents due to arrive, we will surely have more evidence soon. Falter against that pair, and our confidence in Kane and Spurs’ other key assets – Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli – will plummet.

While it’s a testing trip to Everton to come next, those forthcoming home fixtures, coupled with the unfeasible and record-breaking numbers – may convince many Kane owners to sit on their hands, even when faced with cheaper and more profitable temptations.

Spurs toiled, but their suffering pales in significance next to the cataclysmic display delivered by Arsenal at Anfield.

Like Kane, Alexis Sanchez had the opportunity to put Fantasy managers in a spin. Instead, he played a 60-minute role in a farcical Gunners performance which may actually transpire to be his last for the club.

It remains to be seen if Sanchez stays in the Premier League to be a factor in our season. For now, he played his part in making Liverpool’s attacking assets seem irresistible, as the aforementioned Firmino pulled the strings for both Sadio Mane and Mo Salah to step up with further hauls.

It appears that there is still one thing we can all rely on as Fantasy managers: Liverpool will present us with the dilemma of putting many attacking eggs in a single basket.

With Kane – our most bankable scorer currently defying all odds to misfire – perhaps we should just embrace that “problem”.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Morning guys! Was planning a WC this week, but after a -8 last week i really dont want to.. To make it worse i did not pull the trigger yet and lost the fist prize rises. I am currently at.

    Foster - Elliot
    Danilo - Daniels - Yoshida - Suttner - Goldson
    Eriksen - Salah - Pogba - Mooy - Carrol
    Kane - Lukaku - Mounie

Looking at it it might not be to bad, but kane is hurting me so far (like for any other owner).
Might clean up the defence a bit, atleast danilo must go. Is firmino a must? and is Morata a good option for kane. Looked decent yesterday.

    So what to do?
    1: Danilo - Trippier/Baivies
    2: Daniels - Jones
3: Kane and Mounie - Morata and Firmino
    4: Other options

      Foster - Myhil
Alonso - Jones - Hegazi -Rosenoir - Naughton
      Eriksen - Mane - Mikhi - Atsu - Carrol
      Kane - Lukaku - Mounie

Was thinking of doing 3, but Kane is bound to explode and a wild card would bring me very close to what I have anyway

Fantasy Football Scout daily hot topic

    International break - who's in, who's out

Which players from your side are on borrowed time and are set for the exit?

And who are your top targets?

Are you planning any early moves to catch price changes? Or are you happy to wait until the press conferences before the deadline?

Here are the top five targets in the FPL transfer market

    Firmino
    Morata
    Mkhitaryan
    Mane
    Mooy

Here are the top five players being ditched

    KDB
    Kane
    Chicharito
    Lacazette
    Aguero

KDB out for well known reasons. Danilo and Willian also to go as their minutes are at risk. I have 5 or 6 others too, so it's WC time.

Yep, glad I got rid of KDB for Eriksen before the break - no immediate change in pts but the City man is so uninvolved in goals he has to go, especially as his price will continue to plummet.

Jonty, obviously you're a big Mooy fan. Are there any other 5.5 you would consider? I am looking at Brady or Atsu due to not having enough cash or is Mooy still worth the extra cash

Brighton's fixtures are great - Gross.

But yep other than Mooy - Atsu and Brady look good.

Don't expect alot from that price range - but if they can get you bonus and an assist every other week, with the occasional goal you'll do very well.

            Good enablers too.

You think gross is a player to have. ? Read some reports which said Brighton struggled during attack. I own him, asking coz if I have to do a transfer I would only do gross to atsu

Brady is far more influential for Burnley than Atsu and Mooy for Toon and Hudds.

Knockaert looks like a flair player, I'm probably getting him, just worried he can be pushed out of the games by stronger opponents.

KDB is like Willian, both control the game and organize the attacks, it just doesn't convert to FPL points. The former simply can't justify that price.

Jesus and Ramsey are on thin ice. But with Firmino and Eriksen the likely targets and £2m in the bank I can afford to wait out the break.

If I wanted Kane instead I might need to move quicker....but do I really?

Did Kane to Morata last night - to avoid Kane's price drop and make some money on Morata's rise.

              don't be so sure.
Ramsey isn't good at tracking back (which combined with Ozil) leaves holes. wouldn't be surprised to see him benched for some away games in particular.
Ramsey flatters to deceive for FPL players as he often has high stats for getting forward (touches in box etc.) but (2013/14 aside) his history shows he is just a 3-4 ppg player.

As stated on MOTD he wasn't tracking back so Wenger had to bring in someone to fill the hole in midfield he was leaving. Wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't ply the next game

Stones is top of my to ditch list. Plenty of alternatives but I think a Swansea defender might be the best option. Would give me 3m itb and plenty of options for GWK 5.

GWK 4 is a lottery as its after the international break and there is no standout captain so another week to ride out I think.

Gabbiadini - on thin ice....so decision to be made GWK 5 or so on whether to uprade to Firmino - or downgrade. Don't want to make that call just yet.

Other than that happy with my average scoring lads.

Stones here too. I also have Kolasinac. And I'm looking at Naughton and Jones to replace them. Not sure I'll do both for a hit.

I look at Liverpool's next 6 fixtures and they're not very favorable. Definitely wouldn't feel comfortable captaining one of their players. I already have Salah and I don't think I want to double up right now. I think it's best we don't get carried away by their thrashing of Arsenal as that was expected.

      Kane.

At his price, I need to captain him to justify having him in the team, I have reluctantly done so from the beginning.
      Quite unhappy.

Will ditch for Firmino, which I'm more than happy to captain despite being only 8.5-isch.

Funds will accomodate a midfield upgrade, either Mooy to 9.0/9.5, or Mhki/Pogba (have both) to Hazard/Sanchez.

This could work but picking the matches is the issue. I'd prefer an easy home game for captain material. Liverpool struggle against the 'easy teams' parking the bus and it's almost counter intuitive to captain him against the better footballing sides but that is likely where the points are.

      Ditch Kane?

Stats say otherwise. Watching all his 3 games he missed 3-4 one on ones with keeper, shots on post and getting some heading oppertunities. He is there and points will come and the more people transfer him out the better, fpl wise.

But i do reccomend everyone to get morata in. Seen all his minutes at chelsea and he looks like a real point player.

Cedric Mane Morata Kane are essentials to me.

Sticking with Kane, felt pressured to sell him last year after a few slow weeks and people talking about his lack of shots on goal, two weeks later he exploded and people soon reversed their opinions, not wasting moves on him, his stats are good.

I'll be watching the Sanchez situation closely. Downgrade to Salah enables me to upgrade Hegazi to Alonso or 0.1 off Hernandez to Morata

Top target is Morata but not easy to fit him in as I want to keep Kane. He will score soon. Has to. Still the best striker in the league... but Everton away not easy so dropping him for one week to catch a price rise and avoid his drop is an option - but reluctant because I know I will want him for the next home game (Swansea, GW5). So that would mean two transfers in two weeks for Kane out then back in, just to gain 0.2 or sth.

Reluctant to drop Kane cos the stats are there, but will probably ship for Morata.

Something's not quite right with them this season - I'm happy to lose that one week haul and wait til the shine again.

Kolasavic will probably have to go too. So many things going nips up at Arsenal at the same time, and he ain't worth it if he's not playing LWB

Done KDB to Eriksen for price reasons and just don't see him getting value returns playing where he is now.

Anything else is going to depend on press conferences & transfer window.
Got 2 injured players on bench (RLC & Dummett) & slightly nervous about back 4. Currently have Bavies, Hegazi & Stephens - none of whom are definitely nailed on long-term.
      Bavies - Rose return,
Hegazi - MacAulay return and WBA supposedly looking for new centre-halves,
      Stephens - already signed Hoedt.

2 FT and want to get rid of kdb and Willian. I really want Salah or Mane but I already have Firmino and doubling up against city away seems like pushing it.

Double up is fine, Liverpool raise their game against their top teams and it isn't that much of a handicap, even if I don't expect City to do an Arsenal.

Quite happy with my team, KDB and Fraser the only one that looks like dropping but not sure who to bring in. Already have the obvious ones (Mkhi, Eriksen). Might get in Pogba and Mane or Alli for those two. Or even Salah? I will await internationals though, and injury may come my way.

Gabbi and danilo are my two priorities to ditch, considering naugton and firmino. That means I need to find 0.5 somewhere (Bailey to Jones) kane is testing my patience but I think he gets a stay of execution he has to haul eventually!

Definitely waiting until after the break to see if there are injuries etc. I feel horrible even thinking it, but a Kane knock for a couple of weeks would be really helpful

        Woops, hit post too early.

Helpful so I can move him on and invest some money in my midfield, which is beset with problems at the moment. Right now, he's like that ex you just can't stop clinging on to 🙁

Already have Firmino, which is my one saving grace so far, and no way am I binning Lukaku yet with that ownership, so I'm really limited as to where I can redistribute funds. The midfield cupboard is extremely bare under the 8m line.

Ditched KDB for Mane (before the price fall/rise) and am happy with that (already have Mkhi of the above list).

But will keep Kane as he will explode, one day, at some point (don't have the others).

I am also intending Danilo to Davies as Davies seems to be the standout Spurs defence option and Danilo will be rotated.

Stones is prob out, but not decided yet whom to bring in, Maguire perhaps, as he gives me good rotation options.Having Francis injured and Jones reportedly playing through pains isn´t ideal, but my forward line i´m fairly happy with barring a stupid punt on Ince, but it got me Alli so not the worst. Not adversed to take a hit in defence, if situation is dire going into next week.

So much uncertainty. i have Kane, KdB, Chicharito. I think KdB is the main one who should go, most likely for a Man U mid in my case. I will probably wait for the break to be over in case of injuries.

I would advise making kneejerk transfers before the international break unless your team is in dire straits

This is one for your rough with the smooth. I took a 12 point hit with two free transfers gw 3.

      IN ---------- OUT

Hegazi ---------- Valencia (7 points down)

Pogba ---------- De Bruyne (level on points)

Mkhitaryan ---------- Ritchie (1 point down)

Chicharito ---------- Jesus (8 points down)

Eriksen ---------- JWP (Eriksen captain – 5 points up)

But the worse part of all this was because of those transfers it meant that I had clark's 15 points on the bench as stones played for 1 point and a few minutes. (14 points down)

If I just transferred one or two transfers as originally planned clark definitely would have started as ward-prowse would have been first bench. Jesus and/or KDB were always going to be sold.

But if I had done nothing at all I would have saved 37 points even with lukaku as captain!

My advice is sit tight and wait until after the international break

Read this a day late, already made -12 last night to catch price rises, hope it will pay of because I want to save WC for later

That was exactly my logic last week.
A saved WC would be more valuable etc.
But people forget (like I did) that making lots of transfers can have unforeseen consequences like clark on the bench with 15 points, even before you factor in the points hits.

I hope it works out better for you then it did for me!

At least you still have your WC, if something happens and I make some other move until deadline I am using mine for sure, and now I don't think it's smart and at best I hope to get even after it, but what's done is done, so got to keep rolling. Cheers

Very much undecided... got KDB and Danilo in my side.

KDB -> Mane an option, bur will i make that move when they are playing eachother?
Danilo -> Bertrand/Naughton/Hegazi another possible move. But if Danilo starts I don't really need that transfer. The Naughton transfer could free up cash for KDB -> Hazard... any suggestions? Got 1FT btw.

I'd WC now rather than "wait it out" just to have many players price rise to a point where I can't really get all of them in the team after 1-2 weeks.

BTW, I've already hit the WC and my plan is to select players from teams that I believe have played well in 3 GWs (yes, only 3 GWs, which tbh is not that less to make a call - 30 games in total!!) and will play well over at least till December. If this helps you to make a decision...

He's a squad striker...filling in while they search for a new one.

They've had deals fall through so could go to the transfer window wire.

Murray is clearly too old and also currently nursing a small injury so is not getting minutes.

By Gwk 4 if brighton haven't signed a striker then Hemed is an ok enabler option.

I think the best bets though are in defence - Suttner, Duffy or Dunk

      Or Gross or Knockaert.

Keep an eye out for Izquierdo though - could end up top scorer for Brighton given his good record at Brugges.

All that is very true (Sunday Kneejerk article), but Arsenal were the very best opponent for Liverpool, just as Hoffenheim was - two teams that didn't go to Anfield to 'park the bus'.

Imagine you had tripled up on Firmino-Salah-Mané for the Palace game... wouldnt have been that great. I think most teams are soon gonna come to Anfield to just shut the shop. And it remains to be seen if Liverpool will manage to blow those teams away too.

    Ramsey/Willian & Fraser & Kane

    Mane & Ritchie & Morata
