The ScoutCast quintet take on established Fantasy thinking in this latest episode, as we debate the quest to smash the current template squad.

What is the template? How can we break it? Should we even bother?

The discussion that unfolds is predictably sprawling and often heated, as once again the conflicting philosophies on Fantasy management in the ScoutCast crew are laid bare.

Elsewhere we let the rest of your community questions steer the conversation, as we contemplate Sanchez at United, battle Firmino vs Aguero and even find time to check in on Stoke.

Try as we might, even we struggle to argue about Stoke.

By the way, off the air we carried on the debate and, in the end, everyone agreed that I was right and that I also had the best beard.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday evening. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Would you expect Tottenham to change formation for the tougher fixtures, limiting Son's potential?

Pretty close but RMT suggests Adrian is the better option (3.64 to 3.22). However I feel like both will concede but Foster has a bigger save-point potential.

Do we expect anything from Eriksen this GW or is there any other obvious replacement?

Mahrez comes to mind but something tells me it's me trying to be too smart. Should probably just play him and have two FTs for GW25.

    Stick with Eriksen right?

I'm making the Eriksen to Mahrez move but in my case I also have Kane (c) and Alli and have two frees for GWK 25.

If I just had the one transfer I'd possibly wait.

Long term though Eriksen is not a player I want when Son offers better returns for cheaper and Spurs have such poor fixtures following three. Mahrez on the other hand has perfect fixtures seemingly forever.

Cheers Jonty, yep that's (only 1FT) what's putting me off a little. Son is the one I'll look to get from GW28 and ditch Eriksen (my only Spurs mid) after this GW. WIl also have more info. Love my team otherwise and who know, he might even become Pogba if he keeps his form.

I'm just lucky this GW that this is my main problem so I apparently just want to do something just for the sake of it. My experience says it's not a good idea so saving this week.

        Thanks for the tip!

I'm currently torn between Mahrez or Sane as my replacement. I think City's fixtures might just sway me towards the German though

I’ve a similar predicament - have exact funds for Eriksen -> Mahrez, Kenny -> Jones (-4) before I get priced out, but feels like it’s more sensible to hold FT.

Personally wouldn’t do Eriksen -> Mahrez on its own this GW.

This may be particularly handy for those looking for a budget gem to replace former magic bean Loftus Cheek.

Ibe still looks strong? But are there others around the 4.5-5m mark.

A little more and I think Albrighton could be the man - great fixtures and can be played each week.

Going without Salah this week as I'm keeping faith in Alli/Son over Salah.
Albrighton surely comes in for me next week to fund Salah.
Looks the best budget option atm with form and fixtures.

Only for those who aren't targeting Mahrez, surely?

I can't see folk doubling on Leicester midfield and locking out options in the other positions.

Lingard deserves a bit of time too. More eye tests required, particularly if Sanchez injects more goals in that team.

It will take a couple more disappointing performances, like Monday, before I'll be really fidgety. I suspect that day will arrive, but I reckon he'll do enough in the next 3-4 to convince most to keep and some more to buy.

Interestingly Mahrez is not a huge bandwagon this week though. Must be something about his price point or people not having an available spot for a 8m plus mid. Great differential for us template busters 😉

Just sixth most transferred in this week and with only a 12% ownership many are staying clear of the Algerian.

Meanwhile, that low tolerance level for 6m or so mids has already seen 83K ditch Lingard after just one blank. Two blanks and that could turn into a firesale given 'the beast' that is the FPL market.

I wouldn't have Lingard and Albrighton. One or the other...as mentioned above and by Mark on the Scoutcast the tolerance level of low priced mids is very low - one or two blanks and people start ditching in their droves. Good to have one spot for that sort of player - means you are more agile and can hope on and off bandwagons more easily, while avoiding price drops.

Vardy in 15.5% of teams...so not the strongest differential overall...good if you are higher up though in the rankings.

I like Willian alot this week - on set pieces and Brighton are awful at defending those. Can see him starting too in Morata's absence, with Hazard as false 9.

Mane - think liverpool could rip swansea apart

D.Silva (if he plays) - seems to get more scoring chances when teams sit back, which the toon might do

      Hazard - he has skills

should be Sane, he starts rising. I swapped Alli to Sane and leave me with Son+Kane for Spurs.

I also hoping for DCL would play and punish people who sell him. I play him over Ogbonna due to Wilson is on fire, small chance for WHU clean sheet.

I reckon it will be whoever scores from the Chelsea corner. Wouldn't be surprised if Rudiger gets a 15-pointer.

Don't own either but Mane or Sane could do wreck but one big differential with ownership under 10% is David Silva, might well be down to 7.9m in price

        3 got you:

        1. West Brom defenders all cheap // Dawson, Evans, Hegazi — Everton are in transition in attack and could hit another blank

        2. Palace’s form is good - 7 points from 9 and 2 clean sheets // Hennessy, Kelly, PvA all cheap

        3. Jordan Ayew has 3 home games coming up // he’s cheap and his form is good —— wonder goal midweek

          Azpi - Mee - Ogbon - Long - Marriappa

Thinking Mee > Alonso, then maybe move Azpi on to Ota or Jones in a few weeks. What you reckon?

Might be some rotation between Lingard and Mata imo.

It’s another attacking player to rotate with, but not likely to take Martial’s spot as Mou couldn’t decide between Rashford/martial for a while so he may not be convinced.

The next in trouble will probably be Mata as he stands out without pace in that position, also Mou has no problem shifting Mata as seen in his Chelsea days

Sorry most likely to take Martials spot. Most in trouble:

              1. Martial/Rashford
              2. Mata
              3. Lingard

In saying that if Lingard stops scoring he will be easy to drop givin he has been a squad player until this season

Basically looking for a Mid and a Fwd for 9.9m. 2FT.

          Lingaard vs. Arnautovich.

          Who and why?

Personally considering ditching Lingaard for Arnie. I don't feel he's that good a player actually.

            Arnie if only one.

But Lingard is scoring great just now and excellent value.

In the game I play - its actually the other way around. I can free some cash selling Lingaard for Arnie - and upgrade defender.

Arnie is playing up top of us and his link up with Lanzini has been great so far. Look at them fixtures too. West Ham fan here hoping for some big points over the next month!

Need a little help on what to spend my 2ft's on:

          A. Lingard, Richarlison > Mahrez, McArthur
          B. Richarlison, Depoitre > Arnie, Quarner (keep lingard)

A does mean playing one of McArthur or Depoitre each week? Much appreciated!

Son and Loftus-Cheek out for Arnie and Ox for -4.

          Yes?

          Team is:
          Pope/Elliot
          Vert Jones Ota Francis Kenny
          Salah Son Sterling Lingard Loftus-Cheek
          Kun Kane Depoitre

Nup. Play Kenny and limit yourself to one transfer. Good moves over 2 weeks so could also save.

Which style of play is better in your opinion?

          A) playing safe in attack ( midfield and forward) and taking punt in defence ( defender and GK )
          B) taking a punt in attack and playing safe in defence

          appreciate any comments..

It varies. I have a side team I like to experiment with and I just went for 5ATB this week but one goal and any chance of points are gone unless your defender scores (which isn't frequent).
Midfielders and attackers only need an assist or goal (which are more frequent that clean sheets).

I've been going with Kane up front only with 2 cheap strikers on the bench.
            4 5 1 formation
This is been working for me very well recently but I think you could probably make either work

yea i have turned to this system too...4-5-1 just feels right at the moment...besides Firminho there is no other striker that will outscore one of the following mids ster, sane, sal, mahrez, arnie, son, kdb etc

so i am going to bring Mane in for Firminho to put my mind at ease and as a good differential 🙂

a couple of people have tried to tell me that 4-5-1 is risky due to lack of flexibility, but i dont see it...what are your thoughts
