It's hardly as if those priced around him are doing anything. If he comes on for a cameo he scored 1 less than Dennis, King, Antonio etc. He doesn't need to start every game at that price and in current form.

Was looking at Edouard myself for the DGW, but Palace seem to have too much competition for the CF spot. Were they obligated to buy Mateta last month? He's looked rubbish whenever I've seen him for them.
Wondering the same thing, don't think jt was obligation though but he's barely ever played and has done nothing when he has.

He was in Germany, has looked another one who's failed to make the transition to the PL whenever I've seen him though.
Olise has looked good when playing, he was one of our best players at Reading last season and will do well at a team like Palace that's looking to play more attacking football. But Mateta just looks very laborious and too slow on and off the ball. Not saying he won't come good but I haven't seen anything to say he will

Surely this is a case of Edouard being rested in one of the easier fixtures while he settles into the league. Can't see him being a rotation risk for long.
Probably recovering from some knock in training is my guess.

Probably a knock in training and Vieira not taking a chance. Many players take as long as a season to settle into a new league and their new team properly.
Nor can I. He has been subbed off after 60 minutes as a thumb rule. There are two possibilities when that stops to happen. Either he gets 90 minutes or simply doesn't start. The latter happened.
I’d say that he’s purely giving Mateta minutes in a game as against opposition facing relegation. Could just be good man management opposed to giving someone a rest.

Laporte can play left side and Pep always wants his players to understand, interchange and be able to play multiple positions so they can be fluid in the forward transition.

Apparently 250,000 is the maximum they can fine him, its going to an animal charity, Essex police still investigating, I can't see how they won't charge him with something, RSPCA should ban him from keeping animals for life but he'll probably end up getting the cats back and abusing them again.
