The waiting is finally over. Just three days after the World Cup came to a conclusion on Sunday evening, our thoughts immediately focus on domestic matters after Fantasy Premier League (FPL) opened its doors once again this afternoon:

This morning’s release of the Player Price List heightened our anticipation – only three midfielders and four forwards are priced above the 10.0 barrier, with Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez the subject of much interest after he was classified as a midfielder for the season ahead.

There are changes to how the Bonus Point System (BPS) is calculated, too. Essentially, every previous statistic which factored towards a player’s BPS score is now multiplied by three – a forward earns 24 points towards his BPS score, for example, instead of eight in 2013/14, whilst a shot off target takes a single point from a player’s BPS score; previously, the system only deducted a point for every three wayward efforts.

A new factor introduced to the BPS is the decision to reward players for successful dribbles. Full-backs and wide men who are willing to take on opponents are now smiled upon favourably here – they earn a single point towards their BPS total, the same as providing a key pass. These new tweaks should hopefully prevent situations where, as we saw many times last term, numerous players picked up bonus points in the same match.

Fantasy managers now have the chance to assemble our 15-man squads with just a month until the campaign gets underway on Saturday August 16, where the early lunchtime kick-off sees United and Swansea go head-to-head in Louis Van Gaal’s first official match in charge.

As always, we’ll be rolling out a series of articles on the Player Price List over the coming days, breaking them down by position.

For now, this is just a heads-up. Enjoy tinkering, everyone!

Will be eternally grateful to whoever does the new BPS system analysis. A little pointless picking a team until we know how it differs from last year.

they changed how BPS points score is calculated... more points for Forwards and mid if they score a goal ( more points for BPS system)

Without analysis, I'd say it removes CB bias. Full backs may even do slightly better, especially tackling ones like Clyne

    First RMT

    Szczesny (Murphy)

    Coleman - Chambers - Trippier - Dummett - Bruce

    Sanchez - Eriksen - Puncheon - Albrighton - Sterling

    Studge - Aguero - Kane

Thoughts? Midfield is a little weak imo...

That is a good idea, but how about if you do that with Arnie/Tadic in midfield? Going in with 3-5-2 might be risky, it is not easier to adapt later on if you WC! 🙂

What do we make of the new BP system?

The wider range of the scores you can get in it make it look like we won't be seeing a whole 6-7 players being rewarded from it in one match, it'll be more concentrated on 3 or so players.

24 points for a striker scoring a goal makes me feel like that it will be grossly rewarding goalscoring strikers over anyone else. Which positions do you think will profit mostly from it?

Quite difficult to tell until someone like The T3rd does proper analysis on it.

      I guess not.
All of the other defensives stats have been tripled also.

Strikers with good shot accuracy and good dribbling attributes may be the ones.
RVP, Rooney, Sturridge, Aguero from the top tier.
Bony, Lambert(i think he will be nailed).

    @Ginkapo I think I might be wrong.
If you have any idea of what the league codes where i reckon I might be able to track down some archives.

Player histories won't work – fpl doesn't allow archiving of certain pages /history being one of them.

What about a 352 with rotating cheap strikers and a 5 man midfield?

    De Gea £4.0
    Chester Chambers Coloccini Mariappa OShea
    Ramsey Fabregas Nasri Erikson Tadic
    Rooney Bony Jelavic
    £1m in the bank

I wouldn't be comfortable captaining anyone apart from Rooney.

Is Mariappa nailed on? Could go Vlaar or Simpson instead...

I just can't make a team without RVP.....just not sure he'll start first week as his 3 weeks hol gives him only 1 week training before first game.
