With week by week statistics available on our test servers (soon to be rolled out to our Members), I thought it would be a good time to demonstrate some of the analysis this affords Fantasy Managers by examining some of the key player statistics from the weekend.

Breaking things down by position, the statistics offer valuable insight on the weekend’s performers, in addition to revealing the potential on offer by some new potential targets…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

VdV (LIV) Nani (BLA) NZog (whm) Fabregas (avl) Malouda (new)
Tevez (stk) Carroll (CHE) Elmander (BLP)

Who to bench this weekend, chaps? I am (shudders) thinking of benching Fabregas.

Carroll or N'Zog, I am captaining Drogba this week as I feel him and Chelsea are really going to turn the screw against Newcastle who will be a lot weaker defensivley without Tiote and Collocini, Wigan are going to be without Rodallega which will effect N'Zogbia's points return I think and Wigan are away from home also Scott Parker will be back and I think West Ham will win that one, Fabregas was fantastic against Spurs and even if Arsenal had of drawn i'm sure he would have picked up all 3 bonus points he would also have had a goal had it not been for a great save from Gomes, he looks like he's coming into form and Villa are weak in central midfield at the minute do not bench Fab, Carroll could score against a weak Chelsea defence I think this one could be 4 or 5-1 to Chelsea , anyway probably go for N'Zogbia even though West Ham were terrible on Saturday and N'Zogbia played very well against United

Fair point mate, but I get the feeling that Chelsea may put Newcastle to the sword. And by all accounts Malouda has been playing pretty well, although of course this hasn't translated into fantasy points.

    Thoughts? worth a 4pt hit?

    22 - This is only Bolton's 4th-best start to a PL season in terms of points after 14 games (04/05 - 23, 05/06 - 26, 06/07 - 24). Perspective

Looking at my team for the long term, I am reasonably happy with my feeling that Nani, Fabs, VdV, Drog, Tevez and Carroll all likely to be in the top points scorers come the end of the season and having a rotation between adam and albrighton most weeks seems to be ok but I'm worried my defence isn't going to get me the extra points needed.

That being said any suggestions of how I could mayb sort my problem out?
I have 0.7 in the bank right now.

    Team is linked

You've got a good team. It's similar to mine, same backbone.

There's an obvious difference in the defenses that we can get though because of team value. Hopefully, next year, you can build a better team value.

Nothing wrong with what you have.

I only saw the highlights of the Brum-Chelsea game, but were it not for a miraculous goalkeeping display from Foster, plus the help of the woodwork, Drogba could have had a hatful.

If I was a Drogba owner, I would think twice about selling him now, especially when you look at their run of games from GW20 onwards. I can't see a player of his class, nor a team with Chelsea's strength, not getting their shit together soon.

      Givet.

But I'd go for Simpson. Your 3.9m defender isn't supposed to play, and what usually happens with them, is that they come in if your regular players pick up injuries, so pick a decent team regardless of fixtures, and Newcastle are better than Wolves.

That's what I'm thinking. I'm sure he'll carry doing well, but sometimes you've got to take a risk on ditching a player. Toon's form might be on the slip and I fancy Chelsea to really lay into them next week.

Is Coleman likely to be rested tonight, someone said above but I don't see any reasons why he would be. I hope he is actually, Jara with 3 points off the bench as a differential to Elmo for my H2H opponent. And if Elmo doesn't play he gets 0 from Williamson. Elmo and Coleman not to take part then tonight for me would be nice. Only need 8 from Arteta to win my H2H that way.

I need Coleman and Elmo to score -6 between them to win my H2H!

Stranger things have happened.....although none that spring to mind immediately.

          That was fairly strange.

Almost as strange as the mystery of where the missing "o" went in Boothroyd's name? Birth certificate error somewhere in his family tree?

    foster (carson)
    elmo, coleman, kolarov, (bosingwa, williamson)
    zogbia, fabs, malouda, VDV, nani
    tevez, elmander, (carroll)

some serious defensive issues now. bosingwa i guess is the worst buy so far. elmo may never play again. benching bosingwa cos he always come in for 1 point. :/ am i correct to play this team this week?

Elmo is far more likely to come on for 1 point than Bos.
Play Bos over Elmo or think about transferring out Williamson if he gets the expected 3 match ban.

Not sure who to play in defence this gameweek. I have the following players to choose from.

    CAshley/Samba/Konchesky/Distin/Elmo

I'm thinking def not Samba and I cant see Liverpool keeping a cleanie at Spurs. I know I need to offload Elmo but for who? Maybe Kolarov? I have .9 in the bank and 1 freebie. Suggestions/advice appreciated. Thanks.

Elmo to Kolarov would sort you out a treat.
If you can't afford the K-Man then how about Cahill?

Either way, play Cashley, Distin and Mr Newbie.

IMHO, If you're playing for team's value - no, if you're playing for points - yes.

Was in exactly the same boat and made that move myself today.

Elmander could well rise a further 0.5-0.8 by Christmas so you'll get plenty of value in time for your January wildcard.

Not sure who's team is in your link!

I'm personally looking to get your front three (Tevez in for Berbatov).

Look, Elmander has better fixtures coming up, but Carroll's had just as good a season. I think Elmander will outperform Carroll in the next couple of weeks, but maybe not by a great deal (he's not going to get 15 point hauls every week)

Could easily be much of a muchness, but Elmander would be, what, .7m more expensive (as you'd sell Carroll for 5.5m).

I don't think it's a necessity, and you may have more pertinant transfers elsewhere. If not, though, it's not a bad transfer.

I'm thinking about doing the exact same thing. If you're looking at comparing fixtures from now to Christmas, then there's only one winner.

But then, Carroll is a really big game player, so I'm not sure...

      I'm sticking.

I really don't think Bolton can keep it up. They have one great fixture coming up, but after that, it's not that great.

Losing all that value on Carroll is tough, and he's not exactly doing badly at the moment. I'd rather make changes to my defense.

Thinking about my first 4 point hit for a while:

    Zhirkov ---> Kolarov

    Berbatov ----> Tevez

I need to do the first one to get Tevez in. No leeway with money, nothing left after that.

Both long-term moves, ideally. Tevez gives me another potential captain.

    Anybody disagree with this move?

He's been stuck in my team for far too long! Could get Elmander in for no hit, but just feel Tevez is a keeper long-term (so long as Ballotelli doesn't interfere too much)

        Therein lies the dilemma.

Trouble is Tevez is rising fast for a price rise, while Berbs is diving.

If I brought Elmander in instead, I'd struggle to get Tevez in later. And I just feel that not having Tevez is going to hurt.

This will surely mean a start for Elmo tonight.... if Bramble is out for 5-6 weeks, then Onouha will be played at CB as Mensah out for a while too. Bardsley would shift back to right back and Richardson back to left back. Elmo's starting spot could be back on track...

Then we can buy him in,like we do with other players.

Drogba is like some FF security blanket, soaking up financial assets, and not scoring. If he starts buy him back.

Is there a rationality bypass given free when you sign Drogba?

I think security blanket sums it up nicely. However, with Newcastle coming up and his near-misses against Brum he may well survive again. It's an addiction.
