West Ham take a slender lead into the Carling Cup semi-final second leg in a fortnight, courtesy of a Ben Foster blunder that allowed Carlton Cole to hand the 10-man Hammers an advantage and Avram Grant some breathing space. Here’s the notes on last night’s events…

The urgency of West Ham’s pursuit of a loan deal for Wayne Bridge was emphasised by the fact that Matt Upson was started the game as an emergency left-back. Winston Reid came into the centre of the defence to partner James Tomkins. The Bridge deal could be finalised today and will be a welcome addition at Upton Park – his Fantasy credentials remain limited however.

Mark Noble and Scott Parker were a force in midfield as the Hammers dominated the first period. This pairing carry the hopes of survival and both will need to maintain form and chip in with goals if West Ham are to maintain their status. Parker in particular, could be a strong magnet for Bonus points over the remainder of the season.

Jonathan Spector was handed a midfield role once again and played his part in both goals. Spector is classed as a 4.1 defender in the Fantasy Premier League game and could come into consideration if he can maintain a midfield start.

Victor Obinna’s petulant kick out at Seb Larsson will see him miss two league matches against Arsenal and Everton, plus the second-leg at St Andrews. His absence will likely see Carlton Cole restored to the starting lineup against the Gunners, although Grant has other options with Luis Boa-Morte, Zavon Hines and Junior Stanislas also in the reckoning.

Scott Dann owners face an anxious wait after he was stretchered from the field with a hamstring injury to be replaced by David Murphy. Alex McLeish had this to say on the situation…

“Scott has a hamstring injury, and it looks like a tear. It’s a blow because he’s another player who has been in fine form…Our medical team will continue to assess him and we’ll have a clearer picture in the next 48 hours.”

Dann is obviously a major doubt for local derby with Villa this weekend and could face several weeks on the sidelines. Liam Ridgewell and Roger Johnson could both see increased interest over the next week or so then as Fantasy Managers consider Brum defenders ahead of their potential treble fixture in Gameweek 27.

Talking of which, despite Foster’s dreadful error for Carlton Cole’s winning goal, Birmingham will remain confident of turning the tie around at St Andrews. Should they win passage to the final, their recently rescheduled league fixture at Everton would be shifted to March 9 and dropped into Gameweek 29 which would leave them with a double here and give them with just the two fixtures in Gameweek 27.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Whom to bring for Kuyt for the next GW only?

Was thinking of Malouda, Yaya Toure and N'Zog... Already having Brunt and Bale. Opinions?

I hate to put a link up for a non fpl matter, but I'm desperate and need all the help I can get. My dog Arthur went missing on Sunday. Had several sightings since in the Glastonbury/Street/Walton area of Somerset, UK, near my home. If any of you are from or know people in that area could you please forward on this link.

It's from a guy who has a pretty good record. Without going into details, a lot of his info should really be kept private in my opinion, but it's usually accurate.

Having said that, this is only as reliable as his source. And even if the source is 100% sure, plenty of things could happen in the next 6 months that mean Roman stays at Chelsea.

So i've pretty much decided to play my WC next week. Team as of now would be:

    Gordon - Stockdale/Kingson
    Rafael, Coleman, Foley, Bramble, Djourou
VDV, Lamps, Fabs, Nani, Davies (Ful)
    Ameobi, Rooney, RVP

Would leave me with 0.0 in bank.
I really want to get Rafael in my team, but then again I want Adam/Nzog instead of Davies. Can't afford both. Alternatively I would get Hughes instead of Rafael to free up funds for Nzog/Adam. Can't seem to make up my mind which would be the best.

    Any suggestions?

Have you thought about the possibility that by next week, a few of the players would be 0.1 more, so you'd be short by a few 0.1's. What would be your alternatives to lampard and fabregas then ?

Actually, I think I would have 0.1 in the bank, but still I see your point. I guess that take a bit of tweaking between the cheaper players. Will ofcourse follow the transfer market closely.

Fabs is staying, the other option would probably be Lamps to Malouda even though I am not too fond of malouda. It would ofcourse free up the cash for me to get Nzog and Rafael but dont know where I would put the other 2 mil?

        Any good ideas?

You're going to have a fun night tonight.... You've got a captain who's suspended, a defender who probably won't play, a midfielder who will be a Villa player by the time of the game, and forward who basically plays in midfield.

            😀

    Gents, ladies, Katie,

Carling cup, FA-cup, prem league, champs league….rotation.

Can anyone make a list over the most potentially rotated players in the most potentially league games? Example: Fabregas has an eeeeaaasy home match against x between the barca-games, and would therefore potentially be rested against x.

"My god. I've done it again."

Flashback: Molby enters his fiancee's house to meet her parents for the first time. He grabs the fathers testicles, before slapping him on the bum and french kissing the mother.

"WHY CAN I NOT MEET PEOPLE! Why must I always disgrace myself?"

Not easy to tip players new to the prem, always going to be a few duds in there. My favourite thing about the Boselli bandwagon was all the people accusing each other of treachery for selling him and causing price drops, it was like a stock market crash towards the end 🙂

If I was manager of Liverpool I would definitely play G.J as a winger he can't defend really but can score goals and puts great crosses. He can "unlock defenses" (remember that quote about another Cole?) and Liv are lacking real right wing. It will be interesting prospect if that happens.

                Cheers,

I assume you play a 3, 5, 2. If that is the case I would downgrade Elmander to Odemwingie, Varney, Campbell etc for some more cash.

Then you could go Carroll to Tevez or Nasri to Lampard.

      Just a thought

Konchesky > Djourou a good move?

    That will lose my Liverpool coverage so then;

Rooney > Torres (already have Nani and Vidic)

    Or stick with:

    Foster (Gordon)
    Vidic Coleman Kolarov (Konchesky Evatt)
    Nani Nasri VdV Bale Adam
    Rooney Tevez (Carroll)

I would say if you're going to perform an epic troll, you need to put a bit of effort into it.

It can't be along the lines of:
          1: lie
2: as soon as people question it say "not really, it's a joke!".

The best trolls will start with some people questioning you and some taking it for granted and progress into a huge argument, with neither side 100% sure. If done properly, this will carry on for weeks.

What Kroky has done looks like he either isn't funny, or has actually made a genuine mistake and attempted to cover it up with an increasingly cringeworthy attempt to pass it off as humour.
