This double Gameweek conundrum has had us in its grip. Its wicked little game, complicated by an evil blank for three teams in Gameweek 28 has “twisted our melons†and left us firing questions into the ether in vain hope that clarity would show itself. Everything is still blurry.

We’ve done our best over the past few days to bring you a breakdown of the options available, laced with our opinion on the best routes to take. Our “Scouting the Doubles†articles will close tonight with West Brom completing the set of eight. Those, together with Andy’s Captain Poll article and Big Dunc’s “Spot the Differentials†(coming tomorrow), not to mention this week’s ScoutCast, complete possibly the most thorough analysis of teams and players we’ve cobbled together prior to a Gameweek deadline.

You now add the Scout Picks to the mix, although, in the light of this week’s coverage, I’m not about to cover the same ground with more player-by-player analysis, re-affirming the facts, stats and speculation. I won’t leave you hanging high and dry either though.

Selecting a Scout Pick lineup in a double Gameweek scenario is never easy. The obvious candidates stand out like Nikola Zigic at a Jimmy Krankie convention – you can’t ignore them and they’re always likely to use their size once the cling flim comes off the buffet.

Only one non-double Gameweek player finds his way into the lineup . Liverpool’s quest for their fifth clean sheet has them host the woefully inconsistent Wigan at Anfield and that’s a good enough prospect for me to snatch one of their defence. Even this was far from cut and dry. With Martin Kelly a slight injury doubt, I was forced to opt for Glen Johnson – a more expensive, but equally expansive option who can offer defensive and attacking returns.

Elsewhere, the familiar lack of clean sheet potential made it difficult to look beyond even the flimsiest double Gameweek prospects.

Michael Dawson and Gonzalo Jara get the nod because the prospect of 4 appearance points outweigh the option of hoping for a clean sheet from the United defence without Rio Ferdinand against rivals City, or perhaps backing Chris Samba at home to Newcastle.

Jara looks every inch like fools gold, but today’s appointment of Roy Hodgson pushed me to take a gamble on the Baggies rearguard for at least their second home clash with rivals Wolves. You never know, Jara may even return that assist that his OPTA stats appear to threaten.

In midfield the selection was made more difficult by the blank in Gameweek 28 – do I consider the problems this causes or simply select those who offer the best returns?

The strategy is always to select the top scorers for the Gameweek, so Tottenham’s Aaron Lennon, Birmingham’s Craig Gardner and of course, Cesc Fabregas all earn their place. Charlie Adam, edges out West Brom’s Chris Brunt to the bench despite the yellow card sword of Damocles hanging over him.

Kevin Nolan is nowhere to be seen – I’ve left him at home staring at his Andy Carroll scrapbook. Ashley Young? Yeah, tempted, but I’ll leave him rewinding his bit against Denmark on Sky plus. Villa and Young should return at Blackpool though.

Talking of which, Darren Bent almost made it in up front. In the end the obvious silken skills of Robin Van Persie and the pacey menace of Peter Odemwingie, has them on the bus and in the team.

The aforementioned Nikola Zigic gets the bench spot – provided he takes off those stupid school shorts and cap.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

A few surprising picks, I would have gone with Foster in goal, more likely to get more saves

Indeed but Roger Johnson is a better option than any of the Arsenal back four - might be different if we could be 100% of Djourou start.

I have all 3 Rock and I have played Nani and Young, Tevez on my bench is worrying but I'm commited now.

Villa vs Blackpool - goals galore, could be 6-6, Young on penos, if you don't play him vs Blackpool when will you?

City vs Utd. - Tevez will be isolated as Mancini sets up for the 0-0 ala vs Arsenal, if Utd score Nani will be involved.

Thats my thinking anyway, probably go tits up though.

Yeah its close between Tev and Nani, Young will play.

Can see goals in the game, maybe 3-2 to Utd but if City score, Tevez will definatley be involved. Same can't really be said about Nani, not with the way Rooney and Berba have been playing, thats where i see the goals coming from but i suppose Nani has a good chance of a couple of assists, guess its just a flip of the coin? would be really worried having Tevez on the bench, like yourself Hunter.

Virtually sorted my team now thanks to wildcard. Just a few minor changes I may make (do I bring back Kelly instead of Walker and shall I go for Gardner instead of Barton?).

Either way only 7 DGW players and no Spurs representation now (VdV gone for Ashley Young) and Fabs gone for Theo.

Right now I can field a full team in GW28 without needing to make any transfers. Getting Gardner would mess that up. Tempted by him though. What do ye think, folks?

Yes, got Baines in and enough cash to do Cahill for Meireles for GW29.

Left enough in bank to do Odem to Saha too, but if he's injured for the double i'll prob get Bent.

This is why I'm reluctant to get Gardner in as I'd rather like to save 2 transfers for that gameweek. But I can see Gardner doing well this week, gives me another pen taker and he has 4 games in 3 gameweeks.

VDV is on red injured and confirmed not playing first game. So can he outscore Nani against Blackpool if he plays I think he can.

If he plays being the operative and very important words there.

In the scoutcast Mark picked up on something that I had been thinking
namely that VdV's injury problems are quite regular occurrences.

Considering, at best he has 1 game in the next 2 gameweeks and assuming that, as the history suggests, he's going to break down again, I took him out of my side tonight.

I know people are hoping for big things against Blackpool from him, but there's no guarantee he'll be ready for that game. And even if he is, will he play a full 90 mins or be firing on all cylinders?

    Kolarov, Vidic, Coleman

I can play only 1, benchthe other 2. Can't decide. ManC v MUN could easily be a 0-0 draw or a high scoring thriller. Hence leaning to Coleman

yo guys, its been a while. currently been really busy and have lost track on FPL over the last month (moved to the US in january). i was wondering if people could fill me in on what's happening with GW28. are arsenal and birmingham expected to have games scheduled in that GW but are yet unconfirmed? or are they definitely not going to be playing because of the carling cup?

currently on my WC and was looking good to overload on arsenal+bham players for the DGW but now having second thoughts!

im playing VDV with fergy first sub, that way reckon ill get the possible bonanza of vdv vs blackpool ,or if vdv dont play at all the comfort of a gaurenteed 4 to 12 point of fergy ,benching vdv is pointless imo.

I've got those 2 in. Because both have huge profit stored in them and I;ll want them back when not suspended / return fit
