With the gameweek safely locked away for posterity, Members can take time out to plunder their OPTA data to fully assess the key performers.

Once again we’ve put in the leg work for you, mining the statistics to answer some vital gameweek questions – did Rafael van der Vaart and Samir Nasri have off days? Did Robin Van Persie deserve yet another set of Bonus Points? And just how good was David Luiz?

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Between their defeat in the 1998 final and their elimination in the last 2006 Round of 16, Brazil won 11 straight World Cup finals matches. The run was book-ended by defeats to France, but can you name six men that started both games?

Unless fergie is going to drop a forward, i.e. Hernandez/Berba (which he isn't now) Our midfielders both need to be box to box energy balls (fletcher/Anderson) or deep lying passers (Carrick- ha!/Scholes). Modric tried playing deep under Ramos and failed dismally. It would be the worst transfer since Veron imo.

what about Bebe, obertan, hargreaves, djemba x2

Modric is a v good player and would improve utd midfield

carrick isnt good enough, fletcher has good energy but needs someone with him who can create just like Modric would.

surely a goalkeeper is priority no 1 anyway

Bebe, Obertan and DJ x2 yes. All were (relatively) cheap though apart from Bebe who was a quiroz stitch up. Some cheaper gambles pay off: Hernandez and Smalling for example.

Hargreaves?! He scored the crucial pressure penalty in the CL final when we were 2-1 down. I'm sure you remember that, and won the Premier league scoring a crucial freekick winner against the goons. All within 30 odd appearances. Laughable chat!

Keeper is a priority too, obviously, but all i was talking about was Modric.

You really aren't reading what i'm posting. For some reason you have your knickers in a twist. Who's the better footballer? Modric, by far. Who would do a better job for Utd at the moment with our formation and set up? Fletcher. Therefore: Fletcher.

personally i don't see how modric is an attacking midfielder as it would be impossible with 2 wingers either side of him and 2 strikers or vdv + 1 striker ahead of him.

i like fletcher the player (obviously looking past him being the top graduate of the javier mascherano school of referee pestering), but as 'arry says modric is brilliant as opposed to very good (flecther) imo. has got an under-rated engine and burst of pace on him (his assist at anfield a couple of months ago being a good example) and is the king of interceptions

I just don't see Modric as a box to boxer myself. He's got all the attacking pernache in the world, but i'm not convinced by his defensive capabilities. Fletcher is almost the exact opposite, he destroys football, he doesn't create it like Luka.

I don't see why United would need 2 box-to-box type midfielders at all. That's just AP's take on it yet it seems to have become the crux of the conversation here?

Modric's work rate is phenomenal anyhow. The amount of times i've seen him covering in fullback positions is crazy.

Modric and a new pair of knees for Hargreaves: United's midfield sorted.

                    Essay:

                    Last time I address this.

Nobody every disputed Rooney was playing "deeper". Pretty obvious Berbatvo was the front man and Rooney as you said left wing and support striker. This every agrees on. Months ago i linked a long long article about this (Ask Gargamel - he was gona print it off it was so long). This isnt the issue.

You didnt say the above which everyone agrees on. You compared his position to Fabregas which was utter nonsense. Hence the corrections jokes etc,

Please dont change things. Nobody ever denied he was playing deeper. It was the Fabregas comparison which was and is still the only issue.

Wow, that actually wasn't smug. Nice one. Ok last time i address this.

The Fabregas comparison was just an example of playing deeper and contributing assists rather than goals to the team, compared to the season before's spearhead of a 433 attack. I never said they were starting in the same position i'm 99% sure i said something like they were playing 'basically the same position' as an obvious example of him not being the goal poacher anymore and dropping deeper to provide assists. You took a flippant comment and ran with to a ludicrous extent. Imagine if i did the same will all your foolish posts? It would be complete Armageddon. It wasn't even until gregs lolarious post about passing positions later that you got a massive amount of sand in your vagina about it. The Key initial debate with Attila, which you continue to try and plaster over with all the fabregas comparisons was that Rooney wasn't underachieving because he wasn't scoring goals, which was the point of his blog piece. The reason as i saw it? His change in position from the previous year. The last few weeks foray into midfield just proves it even further. Zee end.

*round of applause* *flowers thrown on stage* etc etc.

My former Computor dude with decade work in Microsoft in USA and Msc in it had many a story about the way things are in that line of business.

He was nice guy, Gave me free anti virus package which never needs any $ to upgrade. Never had a problem since. He said alot of it is just a scam

I think the anti virus business is a bit fishy too, I don't use any program that costs money either.

Still there are numerous other reasons why viruses are created.

Here is a few reasons that spring to mind.

                    - To take control of computers and use them for other purposes, controlled by the creator. They're called "zombies"

                    - To make people log on to their site and pay money to have it removed

                    - To steal information

                    - Because they just hate Microsoft and want to prove that their systems are crap.

Or perhaps you wanted Db's gossip? 😕

It's probably one of the most common reasons too, at least partly, because there are basically no viruses at all for other operating systems than Windows.

They're used for DOS-attacks (denial of service) mainly, so the virus creator sends his virus/trojan everywhere and creates a "zombie army", ie a shitload of people who don't know that they have the virus.

Then he makes them all send information at the same time to a server, resulting in the server being unable to handle the information and crash.

but ddos can be caused without a virus too.
2 main reasons why viruses are made are
                    1) antivirus industry
                    2) SELLING private user information. virusmakers never use the information they gain from other peoples PC. because the root of the virus is usually untraceable, BUT usage of creditcard info etc can always be traced.

Just Youtube'd the Chelsea Liverpool FA Cup 5th round from 1982
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ZB41owSpRE

I was 13 at the time and I remember I was in Battersea with my dad for the school Summer holidays. This was a massive shock at the time Liverpool were huge, bigger than Man utd are now in comparison and Chelsea were in the 2nd division.

Peter Rhoades Brown's goal is one of the goals I will always remember. It's kind of an iconic moment from that era.

Still get the hairs on the back of my neck stand up when I see his goal. Just takes me back, man. Wonderful memories.

These are the times when I enjoy being in my 40's, so I can remember good stuff like this.

Cripey, just looked at Young's stats for the weekend and they are shocking, Nasri was a amazing in comparison, was wondering why Young wasn't up above, but he barely had anything to report, 1 shot on target, 1 successful cross, and way down on the layoffs/through balls and passes in opponents half.

Starting to reconsider why I am hell bent on Nasri OUT and not Young
