The Saturday Surgery has closed. Pre-season is over. The sea of “Rate-my-teams” will begin to subside. The deadline for team selection has slammed shut and then some.

At least for now, what’s done is done. It’s time for the football to begin and for some new Fantasy Football champions to be crowned as we open the Dugout Discussion…

Fulham and Aston Villa have new managers looking to start their season off in style, QPR and Norwich both return to the Premier League with ties at home to Bolton and away at Wigan respectively.

Liverpool and Arsenal are seen as big rivals for fourth place as they open against sides from the North-East. Blackburn also host Wolves.

As you can see, plenty of action going on as the season kicks off. Will your gambles pay off? Have you made the right captaincy choice? Will all that effort require a sudden wildcard? Were you even able to get through the sky-high walls around the Fantasy Premier League castle this last 24 hours? The Dugout Discussion will be open through it all as we welcome “soccer” back with a warm embrace. It’s been a long three months.

Here’s hoping Gameweek one starts with a bang deserving of the last day’s frustration. I’m sure we’ll all have a new bandwagon to jump on by the time evening is upon us – Mauro Forimica anyone?

    QPR..... dear oh dear. Glad I didn't go with any of their players despite nice enough fixtures.
    Owners seem pretty similar to our shower of shit - loads of money but not willing to invest any of it.

    apparently the player database isn't linking up properly, that's why the points haven't been updated. no idea when they'll have it sorted, i hope not too long.

    Does FFL no longer have the scores showing immediately? Or is this a follow on from todays issues? Annoying that can not get on to LiveFF either .. unless it is me .. I am on the view points, though it shows players who have played though says zero points for them

    I spend weeks studying, comparing, thinking, planning. Consider Carrol could do well vs Sunderland, the old enemy.

    I've just found out he missed a penalty!! Is that double minus also for a cap missing a penalty? SO pleased!!! Justice.

      yes, his total point score will be doubled. that means -4 for missing the pen (and technically he missed out on +8 for not scoring the pen).. so a 12 point swing from your point of view

      I think the promoted sides are worse, Wigan will struggle too. Blackburn around 14-17th
