Having added statistical maps to our Match Dashboard a week or so ago, we’ve now brought these new aids into the Player Profiles and, more importantly perhaps, the Stats Comparison Tool.

Our Members can now compare two players head-to-head and get both a statistical view and a graphical view of a players performance. Our new maps allow you to plot stats such as Shots, Chances Created, Crosses, Dribbles, Passes and an array of defensive stats. These can, of course, be filtered by a range of Gameweeks or matches and by home and away fixtures.

The next step is to add a heatmap that will plot a player’s touches on the pitch. We’ll be bringing that to you very soon.

The movie below offers a walkthrough of these new features, running a comparison between Sunderland’s Stephane Sessegnon and James McClean’s over their last six matches.

Memberships are still available for £12.50 up until the first weekend of the season. Click here for details on how to register or upgrade your account and for all our preview movies so far.

    From Whoscored.com re: Nani.

    MR (Midfielder - Right)
    Appearances: 18
    Goals: 3
    Assists: 5
    Rating: 7.22

    ML (Midfielder - Left)
    Appearances: 9
    Goals: 4
    Assists: 6

For a player who currently looks set to start the season on the left, that's not half bad.

Yup, but he's the same price as Kagawa and only slightly cheaper than Valencia. Also Giggs could steal his spot every now and then.

Nani is FPL dynamite if he plays every game. Really struggling to choose between him, Val and Kagawa. I am fairly sure that Nani will start the season, but there's the rotation worries just as there is with Kagawa. Valencia's the safest but also the most boring. Hmm..

Yeah.. going Rooney-less to start with. Figure a United mid should be enough for the start, just a pain choosing the right one. Will probably do the generic Torres > Rooney transfer afterwards, but Bent also tempts me. Got DDG/Fed in goal. Aguero upfront. Hazard, Pienaar too. Taken a punt on Taarabt aswell, but am currently weighing up if Hoillet may be the better shout at .5 more. Cuellar, Williams, Clyne in defence too.. hows yours looking?

I like the stats. I just have to worry about the rotation too.

Valencia, Young and Nani are too well matched to avoid rotation though. And throwing Kagawa into the mix just makes things even tougher again

I think the rotation is less of an issue for Utd attackers with all the defensive setbacks at the moment (see also: Carrick and Valencia being pushed back).

That leaves a hefty amount of places to shoot at, with a PL new guy being eased in to one of those slots.

Could be worth a shot for the easy run of fixtures up till GW7 or whatever and by then some players are returning and you can reassess anyway.

Has Nani started every pre-season game since returning from the Euros?

Cerny doesn't play. U need a 4.5 gk when DDG misses the occasional match because of Lindegaard.
I'd wait and see if Kagawa gets much gametime in the start. Allen has terrible fixtures, the same with Skrtel.

Read it properly and don't be a twat, What I was referring to is that the number of completed passes mean nothing. You can make 10. Two yard passes that are successful and that will give you a 100% pass success rate. That means nothing compared to a 30 yard defence splitting pass. Now, go away and think hard. Who's the dullard now

They're still not getting it and I can't be arsed having to explain it to them Sheldon. O.k. Maybe I'll try one last time. Pay attention boys. The number of successful passes counts for nothing if those completed passes are short 2 yard passes . They don't have the same bearing on how good or bad a player is unless they are quality defence splitting passes or of a high calibre. A la the Neil Lennon comment I made earlier in this string. To be honest your making yourselves sound dumb mentioning him in the same context as xavi. They are worlds apart as players , the one thing you have got right is that xavi does play a lot of short passes. Well done on that.

So, if any player has a higher pass success rate than Xavi, he must be making lots of short passes, while a lower pass success rate means he's the more creative player and trying tougher passes? While there's some truth in that, we shouldn't simply dismiss a player achieving a very high pass success rate in a team of average (by World Class standards) players.

As it happens, Allen may have the potential to, one day, be in the class of Xavi. They play in a similar role and one that requires speed of thought and composure over any flamboyant technical skill. The lads 22, he can be as good as he wants to be.

No. The point is that a high pass success rate doesn't give a real indication of the players talent. Its the old stats argument being taken to extremes. The point they were making was that as he had a high pass success rate he was better than xavi.

The success rate of passes is a quantifiable figure in the form of a %. Therefore it is quantity. -_-

Also +1 to quality over quantity.

No willis, The harder the pass the player tries to make the less likely he is to achieve it in comparison to someone who is playing an easier short pass. This really is simple stuff. Actuary or not.

In made a bit of money that way which helped later but always nice to have a WC before a DGW! If you do it then do it early but if your team is doing well it is better to stick. In my opinion. Probably wont though, I also said I would never (c) Torres again.

Because of Rangel's great fixtures he is played nearly every game so Boyce Cuellar and Gunter will mostly fight for the last slot. By the time their fixtures die down i will transfer in a Newcastle defender. As Mark said in an article, you can't plan your rotations too far ahead, or you'll get into a tough position. And i don't think it's necessary to get 'cover' for teams defensively, a CS is a CS, no matter what team it comes from.

Tierney (Nor), Demel, McCartney (WH), Clyne, Fonte (SOU) and Gorkks (RDG) with Mariappa too

Said it before, but I'd wait and see... Have watched him extensively and, as much as I want him to be a huge success, he just hasn't done it for me. Even at reserve team level he looks clunky and slow, and his touch and finishing is surprisingly poor. However, it was well known that he was unhappy at not being afforded a look in last season, so maybe a run at West Brom will be a success.. Would love for him to do well, but not for me, at the moment....

There are plenty of forward options to choose from, and Arsenal's fixtures aren't the best so you wouldn't need to start with their forwards. If you want one though, i'd recommend either Walcott or Cazorla. The former should start from the off, and the latter is a set piece magician, aswell as being a good assister. Both quite expensive for the start, say over a Chelsea midfielder but it could pay off.

Nani is REALLY tempting me. I know he is a rotation risk but with the defensive injuries Valencia maybe occupied at RB, even if not Nani is a better player to Young.

As said above, when in form he is dynamite.

Think that would be a bit of a stretch for him this season. He's not a good enough finisher to get 20 goals a season yet. Even if RVP doesn't sign, Kagawa and Hernandez will take enough game time off him for it to be a frustrating punt.

Theres no reason why you cant get Mata whilst Carzorla is likely to be eased in slowly, (ala Wengers comments about Pod and Giroud). Then when the situation is clearer at GW3 get Carzorla in for Mata/Hazard. Removes a lot of risk in my opinion.

How about getting Mata/Lampard and switching to Bale/VDV GW2? If you go VDV over Bale you can afford Maloney instead of Guthrie which allows you to rotate the cheap mids.

Good point on Noble having to be played each week. Personally, I think I'm only going for 1 Chelsea for the DGW also - Mata. He's the only Chelsea I'd want long-term. They don't seem great defensively and I'm not sold on Torres plus he won't fit with Aguero and Rooney.

      Nicely balanced, I like it.
As I'm sure you know possibly question marks over Arsenal's fixtures/Cazorla being eased in at first and whether McCartney is nailed on. I've got Demel at the moment but I'm no wiser than what Doos tells me.
Think I'm opting for Mata over Hazard also. RDM himself said he'll need to be eased in and Mata just feels a bit safer at first.

I like it, looks good. I wouldn't have Silva personally considering he's an injury/fitness doubt, and doesn't offer another captaincy option.

I'm also really not a fan of the Torres > Rooney planned transfer. There's no way you'll pick a great team right from the start, and a transfer will be needed early doors to correct any glaring mistakes. Not to mention you're running 2m light for the rest of your team.

I just got rid of Torres today because he is in the Spain squad to go to Costa Rica and there is no way he is going to get 2 starts in DGW. I am just going with Cole and Lampard unless something crazy happens like Cavani joining then its back to the drawing board.

I have watched 3 pre-season games and in everyone Hazard has been poor. He will take time to adjust to chelsea and then PL Big potential but season 1 might not be ready for him to be fantasy gold IMO

I went with McAnuff for Reading, he's the captain as far as I know and looked quality when I seen him playing last season.

I'd rather Mata to Hazard and think a Chelsea defender is probably a good idea. Maybe drop one of the mids for A. Cole.

Building a decent defence. Is. Rock. Hard.

I think the midfield is where the value is this season. Defence is suffering from overpricing, rubbish rotations, rotation and general incontinence. Up front, there's a tiny pool of standout options whilst the rest are difficult to gauge but in midfield there is a plethora of options well priced.
