Earlier this morning, Southampton’s official twitter feed were first to give Fantasy managers the heads-up of a potential double Gameweek 22. The Saints’ previously postponed trip to Chelsea – cancelled due to the latter’s World Club Championship involvement last month – has now been pencilled in for Wednesday January 16.

Whether the league clash takes place all depends on the result of tomorrow’s FA Cup Third Round match between the two clubs. If the game ends all square, the above-mentioned date will be utilised for a cup replay and the league match rescheduled for another, as yet unspecified, time – if either side win, the double Gameweek will take place.

The news now adds an unexpected twist to the winter wildcard scenario. We could now, potentially, have back-to-back double Gameweeks to plan for, bearing in mind Arsenal and West Ham have a double the following week.

Southampton also visit Villa in Gameweek 22 and, while Chelsea face a testing trip to Stoke, there’s no doubt the home clash at the Bridge looks enticing, in spite of the Blues’ surprise loss to QPR last Wednesday. Indeed, Rafa Benitez’s decision to hand Juan Mata and Eden Hazard brief second-half sub roles against Harry Redknapp’s side should ensure they both start tomorrow’s match – boosting the Blues’ chances of progress.

Demba Ba’s move to Stamford Bridge – confirmed at midday by the Blues – brings him immediately onto the radar. At this moment, Ba is still classified as a Newcastle player in Fantasy games, meaning managers could conceivably, have four Blues players for the double if they choose to load up on Benitez’s side – a very risky tactic, however, given we’ll be wanting Arsenal and West Ham options in our squads immediately afterwards. The likes of Ross Turnbull could also come into the equation, offering us a cut-price short-term keeper option if Petr Cech remains sidelined.

While nothing is set in stone yet, the news at least shakes up our tactics and offers plenty variety to our approaches – undoubtedly good news, given the many identikit RMWCT posts currently doing the rounds.

All eyes on St Mary’s tomorrow afternoon, then.

I'm struggling to work out all the fuss over these upcoming DGWs.

Do the expected returns of a Chelsea player away at Stoke, a Southampton player away at Chelsea, an Arsenal player away at Chelsea or a Hammer away at Arsenal really justify the use of 2 wildcards or the spending of many points on transfers?

I think Suarez will be just as good if not better in that role, Sturridge creating space with Suarez and Borini behind playing narrowly with fullbacks bombing on the wings, Suarez is a selfish player and with space in his natural position it can only be a good thing in my opinion.

Which DGW game(s) will Ba play?

I'd play Ba against physical Stoke, where he stands much more of a chance than Torres. He surely wouldn't rest Torres for both?

De Gea is cheaper and plays for Man Utd. It is only a matter of time before they start getting consistent clean sheets. Also Cameron and Wilson can be bought in the defence.

Most bought Begovic at a cheaper price so I doubt you will see much love for De Gea on here.
Even if United do shore up, Stoke will still be just as good if not better, and a mistake from De Gea usually means a few weeks on the bench.

Anyone got any updates on the Terry injury? I know he's due back soon but from what I gather he will be back during GW22. I have Cahill and thinking about his game-time during this GW. Even if Terry comes back with Luiz in mid I'm guessing he will stay in the team and Ivanovic will go to right-back, how correct am I?

What are people's thoughts on the fact that Ba won't be able to play in any Europa League games for Chelsea? More game time in league matches as a result?

That and the fact that Torres has exactly been prolific.

If Livo vs Utd is on 13 Jan at 13:00 UK time, what day and time will that be in Sydney Australia? Need to figure out so I can take a day off but not sure if I've got it right.

    Begovic
    Baines Hughes Shorey
    Walcott Silva Fellaini Puncheon
    Berbatov Hernandez RVP

    Foster P.Hernandez Cuellar Cameron
    4.0 Bank

Planning to use my free to do Hughes to Luiz. Any better options possible? Rooney out makes Hernandez worth keeping for now, had planned to bring in Ruiz. Not keen on Chelsea attackers - any of them could be rotated for either game of the double.

    for (potential) double DGWs:
    Turnbull(bego)
    Demel Azpil Sagna Wilson[i] Davies
    Mata Bale Walcott Nolan Pablo
    RVP Ba Ruiz
Thoughts? would do ba -> for podolski and later nolan->fellaini+azpil->zab

Have people seriously given up on Suarez already? I doubt his returns will drop that much, if at all.

Really? Playing out wide will have a big impact imo. Behind the striker probably won't though.

if anything his returns might even get better with someone more similar to him up front, neither of those 2 players is a true number 9...

No way. As you say I don't think his returns will drop much and Sturridge probably won't be fit for a little while. Will deal with the Sturridge situation when it's happening.
