Earlier this morning, Southampton’s official twitter feed were first to give Fantasy managers the heads-up of a potential double Gameweek 22. The Saints’ previously postponed trip to Chelsea – cancelled due to the latter’s World Club Championship involvement last month – has now been pencilled in for Wednesday January 16.

Whether the league clash takes place all depends on the result of tomorrow’s FA Cup Third Round match between the two clubs. If the game ends all square, the above-mentioned date will be utilised for a cup replay and the league match rescheduled for another, as yet unspecified, time – if either side win, the double Gameweek will take place.

The news now adds an unexpected twist to the winter wildcard scenario. We could now, potentially, have back-to-back double Gameweeks to plan for, bearing in mind Arsenal and West Ham have a double the following week.

Southampton also visit Villa in Gameweek 22 and, while Chelsea face a testing trip to Stoke, there’s no doubt the home clash at the Bridge looks enticing, in spite of the Blues’ surprise loss to QPR last Wednesday. Indeed, Rafa Benitez’s decision to hand Juan Mata and Eden Hazard brief second-half sub roles against Harry Redknapp’s side should ensure they both start tomorrow’s match – boosting the Blues’ chances of progress.

Demba Ba’s move to Stamford Bridge – confirmed at midday by the Blues – brings him immediately onto the radar. At this moment, Ba is still classified as a Newcastle player in Fantasy games, meaning managers could conceivably, have four Blues players for the double if they choose to load up on Benitez’s side – a very risky tactic, however, given we’ll be wanting Arsenal and West Ham options in our squads immediately afterwards. The likes of Ross Turnbull could also come into the equation, offering us a cut-price short-term keeper option if Petr Cech remains sidelined.

While nothing is set in stone yet, the news at least shakes up our tactics and offers plenty variety to our approaches – undoubtedly good news, given the many identikit RMWCT posts currently doing the rounds.

All eyes on St Mary’s tomorrow afternoon, then.

When will new players be added?

New players will be added within 7 days of their transfer being completed.

What happens if a player is transferred to another Barclays Premier League team?

If a player is transferred to another team in the Barclays Premier League, and this transfer takes you over the 3 players per team limit, then you will need to go back under the limit when making your next transfers.

So who is not going with Begovic in their wildcard? Thinking of Szczesny myself (and I have had Bego from the start)

    Szczesny + Wilson/Wilkinson = 9.3/9.7m

    Begovic + Sagna/Gibbs = 10.2/10.7

None, really. Torres and Ba could easily get a game each, Carlton Cole is Carlton Cole, Giroud isn't nailed on, Podolski plays on the wing.

Lambert is the only one I'd consider, really, unless on a WC in / WC out strategy when you could take a few more risks.

ok would appreciate some help with the wc or not situation ahead of the potential DGW. Long post so please bear with me as advice would be greatly appreciated

    Current team

    Migs, Foster

    Rafa, Clyne*, O'Brien* Shorey, Gibbs*

Mata (c)*, Walcott* Bale, Michu, Fellaini

    RvP, Berba, Cole*

Looking at doing Foster to Turnbull to give me 7 DGWers in total.

    Current plan for GW25 wc

    Migs, Fed

    Rafa, Clyne, Davies, Wilson, Nelsen

    Bale, Walcott, Michu, Fellaini, Guthrie

    RvP, Suarez, Berba

If I used the wc now, I could go

    Migs, Turnbull

    Rafa, Gibbs, Clyne, Demel, Azpi

    Mata, Bale, Ramirez, Michu, Fellaini

    RvP, Berba, Ba

with Ramirez and Mata becoming Cole and Theo for GW23.

But if I activated now, how would you get back to the GW25 plan, way I see it priorities

Suarez in, Cole out (could potentially work with a -4 GW24

    Azpi out GW25
    Gibbs out GW26
    Demel out GW27
    Turnbull out whenever

    Thoughts?

        you think

Turnbull, Clyne, O'Brien/Demel, Walcott, J. Cole/Santi and C. Cole is enough?

With Mata yeah? I think so, you'll probably benefit from having saved it

            oh yeah, left Mata out.

He'll go in GW25 though as I'm going 3-4-3. If you consider Michu, Fellaini and Walcott as forwards, that leaves 2 spaces one of which is your budget option. You then have 1 space left so it's Mata or Bale. Of the 2 I'd rather have Bale

        Michu or Fellaini

tbh I don't think a wc is worth ot for 1 extra DGWer

I really have no intention in getting Bale in this season. Haven't had him once, and I feel that his price is way over-exaggerated for the returns he makes. He hasn't been exactly consistent like lets say, Suarez, RVP, Mata, Gerrard, Michu, etc....

So my question is: Is Defoe okay to have to cover Spurs, and fill the 3rd striker spot?

Bale will outscore Gerrard over the rest of the season, I'd put my house on it. I think he'll outscore Mata and Michu, too.

Yea but I could easily get him in for the good run of fixtures, since he is quite unpredictable 😕

I think you just get him and keep him. Take the odd 1 and 2 pointer, but also get the 15+ pointers. Bit risky to captain, maybe.

Like Gerrard? Gerrard hasn't been consistent.

And no not really. Adebayor will probably outshine him. Fletcher is only 2 points off Defoe too. Bale is your man.

10 games where he didn't get a goal or assist? Thats a goal/assist every second game. That's amazing - 5 goals 10 assists.
