The Rate My Team Tool (RMT) for members, rolled out on January 1, has been updated with some recent UI improvements, browser compatibility fixes and now also reflects the latest transfer moves and double Gameweeks.

Following yesterday’s FA Cup victory for Chelsea, we’ve added their additional fixture with Southampton to give both teams a double Gameweek and this is now shown in RMT for the players involved. The likes of Daniel Sturridge, Demba Ba and Joe Cole have also been moved to their new clubs so you can start building them into your RMT lineups to see how they are predicted to fare in the coming weeks. We will be updating RMT throughout the week as more team news comes in and the FPL update their squads with new player arrivals and players have their departure to the African Cup of Nations confirmed. I’ll keep members posted on the major updates each week.

In terms of fixes and improvements, following feedback from those using the tool early on, we’ve changed the method of removing players in order to make the took compatible with mobile devices. There have also been fixes for Internet Explorer and Chrome users.

There are still some bugs remaining in the “My Team” section when building a team from scratch. We’re looking to eliminate those, although we do plan to re-write the UI code for next season, so we’re aware that, with the comments system development our focus, some improvements may be shelved until the summer.

Nevertheless, RMT is up and running and providing our members with a new method of testing their theories, future transfers and team selection. During these Winter Wildcard times, it’s hopefully providing a useful new guide.

If you’re not a member and would like some more information on Rate My Team and how it can help you, view our two part previews, with part one here, and part two via this link. Half-Season memberships remain available for £10 with full information on the benefits, in addition to RMT, available via this page.

One query that has been raised which, perhaps requires further explanation, is based on the My Team view which recommends players in your squad that should be benched as subs in each Gameweek. Some users have noticed that RMT sometimes recommends players to be benched, even though they are predicted to score more heavily than a player in your lineup.

This is because RMT uses a probability of a player playing in a given Gameweek to calculate the average score shown in the table. However, behind the scenes, RMT also looks at a player’s likely score assuming that the player takes part in the match – e.g: it ignores the possibility that the player plays zero minutes. On occasions when this value is greater, it overrides the displayed average points when it comes to recommending your starting XI. As an example, if Robin Van Persie was a major doubt for Gameweek 22, RMT could still recommend playing him above another striker in your squad, even though the value shown to the user in the RMT table might be lower. As we know, you would often play Van Persie in this scenario and let the auto-subs take care of the rest: this tactic is reflected as a feature in the tool.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Who is the better option this week: Luiz or Azpilicueta?

Will the latter play both games?

Mikel + Romeu OUT = Luiz in midfield
Terry OUT and Luiz in midfield = just 2 cbs = Azpi plays both games

Both should start.. luiz has more upside though

        Mata Michu Fellani Bale Nolan/cole

        Berbatov RVP Ba

next week it Mata to Walcott , or if Ba a disaster maybe Ba to Poborsky
        or both for a -4

reason i like cole is because he more a 5th midfielder price who i could bench for a while

Yeah if anything this DGW shakes things up big time since it "forces" many to go with an early WC and setup their team for the DGWs. People will have a different approach to it, and that will show in the teams.

Yeah and he's very young, could lose a game or two. Wilson on the other hand is GUARANTEED to lose a game or two considering he's still injured. Tough one, probably Davies if I was to get one now. Can easily downgrade to Wilson once he's back.

If you're on a wildcard wouldn't you bring in Wilson for Cameron as he is cheaper and more nailed on. I have both currently and when I wildcard I'm going to sell Begovic to cash in on him and get Wilson alongside Cameron.

This ^ , I'd think the template at back will include both Davies and Wilson now for wc , and a lot will keep Begi but some may not want 2 Stoke going forward and some will.
No doubt there's a lot of value around the 4m mark at the moment,
I'm possibly headind for 4-4m ish def and maybe 1 more expensive , bout you Mull ?

This is my DDGW plan unless someone convinces me.

    DGW1
    Turnbull (Begovic)
    Azpilicueta Shaw Gibbs (Wilson Demel)
    Michu Mata(c) Bale Ramirez (Walcott)
    RVP Suarez Lambert(vc)

    DGW2

    Transfers.
    Ramirez + Lambs -> Podolski + J.Cole (-4)

    Begovic (Turnbull)
    Azpilicueta Gibbs Demel (Wilson Shaw)
    Mata Walcott(c) Bale J.Cole (Michu)
    RVP Suarez(vc) Podolski

Alternatively, i might buy Puncheon and bench him for DGW2 avoiding the -4.

    Thoughts?

Ok WC transfers are like this. What do you think?

    Transfer...
    Michu > Mata
    Defoe > Ba
    Berba > Lambert

    * Will lose .3 sell value on Michu.

    OR

    Transfer in...
    Bunn > Turnbull
    Fellaini > Mata
    Defoe > Lambert

*will lose no value with Fellaini.

Each option is for -12pts and as I have no Chelsea it seems necessary.

Yeah Fellaini is a hard one as I know his fixtures are better than Michu's, but I don't lose value by getting him out.

Why you no like A? Is it because of the Ba punt? Or losing Michu? Or something else?

Just because doing 2 out of 3 on B saves you a hit and could still score VERY well with keeping Fellaini.

I don't think Ba is a punt by any means, but also don't think he will play both games. Roman still has a hand in on the team selection and wont want to see his 50m investment benched - ala Shevchenko

I'm stuck on the Demba-go-round. I originally thought he was unownable from now until Torres leaves. But folks on here have persuaded me that he's worth a punt for the DGW at least.

Jafooli insists he'll play 120mins plus.

Wait and see what happens with the cup game midweek, but I don't think either him or Torres will play more than 100 minutes over the double. People want him to do so (play a load of the double), so are convincing themselves he will.

        Something like:

If Ba plays then that's proof that he's for cup games and Torres is for league & Europa
If he doesn't play then he'll get some league pitchtime

        ?

I highly doubt Torres will start against Stoke.

I struggle with the notion that Abramovich will cheerfully allow the dropping of Torres all of a sudden.

Benitez said they might. And it would be folly to keep playing Torres when he is shite.

This is what scares me, but I think it is no accident that Rafa has been saying he thinks they could play together. I think he knows Ba needs to play AND he knows he must play Torres.

Not going for him myself. RVP, Suarez and Berba up front and can't bring myself to drop any of them for him.

What's up with Nathan Clyne? Rested, or dropped? Can I count on him for the weekend?

He has not been in the squad for the last couple of weeks, including the cup tie. If he is now well, the question is whether he will be started straight away against Villa, or given a cameo and started against Chelsea. That would be a bad scenario.

      A (Azpi-Merts-Zabaleta) or
      B (A.Cole-Gibbs-Cameron )

      and demel+cheap3.8

but you have nice ideas too...
