Thomas Vermaelen concedes his form has let him down in recent matches. Sergio Aguero is on his way back to Manchester to step up his recovery from a knee injury, Eden Hazard reveals his confidence is on the up, Daniel Agger praises Liverpool’s fitness regime under Brendan Rodgers, Newcastle receive good news on Massadio Haidara’s injury, while George McCartney is targetting a first-team return for West Ham’s upcoming home clash with West Brom:

Thomas Vermaelen has admitted he has deserved to be dropped by Arsene Wenger after a series of disappointing displays this season. While Wojciech Szczesny’s father has publicly criticised the Gunners boss for omitting the keeper from the last couple of games, the Belgian seems a lot more pragmatic over the situation:

“I have made mistakes…If I played flawlessly in all the matches I would be Lionel Messi. As a footballer you know you what may happen when you play badly. I’m not worried though – it’s only the last games, I have played about 35 times this season. This is Arsenal, they are not a bad team and there is a lot of competition.”

The duo’s absence from the first-team has coincided with an upturn in defensive solidity for the north London outfit. With Laurent Koscielny installed alongside Per Mertesacker at the heart of the back-four and Lukas Fabianksi taking his place between the sticks, the Gunners have registered back-to-back clean sheets against Bayern and Swansea and are now just four points behind Spurs with a game in hand in the race for a fourth place finish. With a home game against Reading up next and a double Gameweek 33 edging ever closer, though, Mertesacker is perhaps still the only nailed-on option, with competition in the full-back areas also adding to the mix as Fantasy managers look to take advantage of Arsenal’s kind run of fixtures.

Eden Hazard has spoken of his growing self-belief under Rafa Benitez as Chelsea, hinting that a consistency of game time has been key to his debut campaign at Stamford Bridge:

“My confidence is really up at the moment and I feel good in myself. It’s quite weird because, historically, March always seems to be the best time of the year for me. Last year I got player of the month in Ligue 1, and a couple of years ago I won the same award… Being honest, I didn’t expect to be playing in every game, but aside from the three I missed through suspension, I have.”

As demonstrated by his goal and assist contribution in Sunday’s win over West Ham, Hazard seems to be replicating his early-season form after a somewhat hit and miss autumn period. Double figure returns in four of his last six starts in front of his own fans have helped the Belgian rack up the points at a time where Juan Mata seems to serve up his best Fantasy performances for the Blues road trips. Now just 11 points behind his team mate, Hazard’s form goes from strength to strength and with a double Gameweek also still to be schedule for Benitez’s men, he looks set to have a significant say in the remaining few matches of the campaign, as Benitez juggles his options to cope with FA Cup and Europa League demands.

Sergio Aguero is heading back to Manchester to continue his knee injury recovery after being ruled out of Argentina’s World Cup qualifiers with Venezuela and Bolivia. The forward took to twitter to reveal:

“My knee is better but the squad’s physicians would rather have me be safe and stick with the treatments until it’s completely healed. It’s a pity to miss out on the national squad matches but I’ll be cheering for Argentina from Manchester, while I finish the recovery. “

While his absence is unfortunate for his national side, Aguero’s update certainly hasn’t ruled out a return to action in time for City’s home clash with Newcastle in week on Saturday. Roberto Mancini had hinted last week he was anticipating his main forward to be in the mix for the Magpies game and with a trip to United to follow – in addition to an FA Cup Semi-Final against their neighbours or Chelsea the following weekend – Mancini is desperate to ensure Aguero is fit and available as he looks to end the season with at least one lot of silverware.

Liverpool were given some positive injury news yesterday after Pepe Reina recovered from a calf problem that has kept him out of the last couple of matches. The keeper is expected to start for Spain against Finland tomorrow and while Brendan Rodgers will welcome him back for the following weekend’s trip to Villa, the Reds will be without the services of Joe Allen for the rest of the season with the midfielder set to undergo a shoulder operation.

Staying with the Reds, Daniel Agger has taken time to praise Rodgers’ fitness regime. Speaking to a website in his native Denmark ahead of the upcoming World Cup qualifiers, the centre-half revealed:

“For me it’s about being fit and I’ve been the fittest in years. I have not missed a game because of an injury and I think that is the first time in my career. Brendan Rodgers is undoubtedly the reason I have played all the matches without injuries this year and I cannot be anything but pleased. It is not I who can take these decisions, it is he who has decided to adjust my training specifically for me. The new coaching team have come up with a form of exercise taking into account the individual, and it is something I have needed. My training volume is scaled down and then I have an increased recovery period.”

Agger has missed a single league match all season, back in Gameweek 2 against City as a result of a one-match suspension and has already played more minutes this term than in any other since arriving on Merseyside back in 2006. While many managers have applied rest and rotation throughout their squads, Rodgers’ approach has clearly been beneficial to Fantasy managers. Granted, Agger’s two goals haven’t quite caught the eye but Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez have offered us a consistency of game time which seems to be something of a rarity these days. The Liverpool skipper is currently on course to play every minute of the season and is set for his most impressive Fantasy campaign since 2008/09, while Suarez’s single-game absence has been as a result of suspension and have helped him close the gap on Robin Van Persie to just three points at the top of the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) standings.

Newcastle have received a positive prognosis on the injury sustained by Massadio Haidara in Sunday’s defeat at Wigan. The full-back has also undergone scans which suggest he could be back before the end of the season, dispelling fears of a possible career-ending injury. Haidara’s potential return could be crucial for the Magpies, given their current issues at full-back – Mathieu Debuchy limped out of the Latics defeat with a hamstring issue, while Davide Santon is reported to have picked up a thigh injury during training for the Italy Under 21s.

George McCartney is targetting a return to action for West Ham’s Gameweek 31 clash with West Brom. The full-back has failed to feature since Gameweek 16 but speaking to the club’s official website, has revealed:

“The knee’s feeling good, I think I probably need a bit more fitness and a bit more sharpness but that will come with the next few days’ training and hopefully some more game time. I’ve only been back training for about ten days to two weeks. The next game’s not until the end of March so that gives me a bit of time to do some more training, more fitness work and I’ll be raring to go come the West Brom game. “

A return for McCartney is something of a worry for owners of Guy Demel and Joey O’Brien, with the former, in particular, looks susceptible to rotation. With a double Gameweek 33 also on the cards in addition to a home clash with Wigan the following week, the Hammers’ short-term fixtures are looking decent and with injuries to many of their midfielders, Fantasy managers may fancy a punt in defence in light of that schedule. Down to 3.8 in FPL, McCartney looks an enticing proposition but remains a little risky, with Jussi Jaaskelainen and Winston Reid the safest options at the back for those eyeing up a route into Sam Allardyce’s defence.

    Last week's Dream Team

Besides Hazard I don't think there is a single player there that you could have predicted would do well with any hint of optimism.

With this in mind, what does this tell us about the PL right now or FPL at this current time?

Are the template players running out of steam? Is now the perfect time to jump on differentials? Are the darlings of FPL this year quite simply...wrecked?

Will GW31's Dream Team have a few more familiar faces? Or is this going to continue? Should we all ditch the template team while there is still time?

    Discuss.

Santon, Riether, and Monreal are all decent defensive options. What you're asking is like looking at who has the highest scoring gameweeks every week. It's always a 2mil ranked dead team that got lucky as hell. I suppose have some differentials but not too many at the same time.

Agreed, I wouldn't read too much, if anything, into the dream team for any single gameweek. Look at the one from GW25 for example. How many would you have picked from that? I don't remember there being a hugely outcry then. http://fantasy.premierleague.com/dreamteam/event/25/

Yeh based on the template players not being in last weeks dream team we should sell all the proven point scorers.

      My Totelfooty team last weekend which came 7th;

Bego, Caulker, Vertonghen, Bassong, Azpi, Lampard, Coutiniho, Bale, Beasejour, Rooney, Remy

And so in conclusion, the entire world of fantasy football is finding it impossible to predict at the moment, if I can finish so high with that useless bunch

Guys, I wasn't trying to say 'hey look at all these players who no-one owns scoring points' but more...why was last week such a low-scoring one for the majority of high-owned heavy hitters?

Fatigue? less hunger? drop in stats? fresh faces outperforming the old faces? are we ignoring some good options?

Just trying to start a discussion...this place is like a ghost town...

Fatigue has some effect, but I think the bigger telling is less hunger. Most teams know where they are going to finish in the table and there is very little reason to try and change that.

Agree with this - it's just random statistical variance. On occasion the so called heavy hitters will fail in unison for no good reason.

If it recurs a few times, there might be cause to look for reasons why, but until then one week of this happening is too small a sample to think there is any real problem.

Thus it ever was. The dream team almost never has more than one or two consistent point scorers in it. RVP probably hasn't been in it more than half a dozen times (actually, I'll look into that and get back to you later).

BTW - in my self-indulgent rambling last night I neglected to congratulate you on your magnificent season. Great stuff man.

RVP, Mata, Cazorla - 5 times
Tevez, Rooney, Lambert, Michu, Mignolet, Jaaskeleinen - 4 times

Yeah the dreamteam is rarely much to go by but it was a strange week for most with the obvious guys not doing the business.

One thing I'm interested in is how some of the fresh faces are really starting to shine. Monreal and Coutinho for instance, maybe the general tiredness of the opposition is helping the likes of Coutinho make a very quick impression?

Could be that. I think in Coutinho's case it's more the fact that he himself is adapting to the premier league at just the same time as Pool are starting to really click (in an infuriatingly stop-start way)

Might want to look at the GW averages as well as the Dream Team. Here are the past seven SGW, starting from last week:
      39, 27, 56, 41, 44, 41, 52
Not sure there is too much there without looking at all SGW. Work is slow this week, not sure it's that slow.

I don't think this gives us much insight to be honest. Picking a team of players who scored well in the latest week doesn't on its own tell us anything about who will perform well in future weeks.

If a player shows consistent performance at a level which matches or exceeds the players who have done well over the whole season to date and who are widely owned, then they become realistic targets, but this is nothing new.

I appreciate you trying to provoke discussion as it's as dead as a door nail on here but it's a non-starter in this case.

But it's a non-starter because people are saying it's an insight...It's not an insight. It's just a series of questions that people might find interesting. Whether they are all worthy of proper investigation is one's opinion. Just trying to see if these questions might lead to some interesting answers and they have but I didn't mean it as some sort of wise insight by posting the dream team. Just that it was a week where very few things we expected to happen, happened.

And I don't just mean highly owned players not scoring, I mean that there were a lot of surprises all round (Everton beating City, Fulham keeping a clean sheet away from home, RVP not scoring SHOCK HORROR)

But it's real data. And as I said before, it was just a myriad of questions that might spark some discussion. Nothing more.

The RMT machine for instance would never have predicted these scores above...but they are real scores not speculative scores. Not just 'Baines will score 10 points over the next two gameweeks because he is amazing.'

Which is impossible to call. You can only really look at H/A advantage and quality of fixture for defenders for example.

Don't know why you have to be so cynical always about what I'm posting.

Yes, it's real data, but it's not relevant.

The RMT machine doesn't predict scores, it projects expected points. Go to 1:14 of this video for the explanation: http://vimeo.com/56363201#

phew. ignore my thoughts below then if you are on WC.

Still get Maloney & consider having enough cash to get Fellaini or Pienaar in for Sissoko.

Defence definitely needs work. Get rid of Clyne or Harte. Davies too for that matter with Taylor coming back soon.

Enrique, Mertesacker or an Everton defender to be considered imo.

                Phew.

There are two ways to look at it, having RVP could be the greatest differential ever, or it could be a risk not worth taking as he costs so much.

If you have had doubts about his worth I would sell as you can spread the risk across more players if you sell.

If was wildcarding now I'd go for something like:

            ddg verycheap
            Santon/Debuchy Mert Zab Baines verycheap
            Haz/Lamp Walcott Caz Bale Maloney
            Rooney Suarez/Tevez Benteke/Lambert/Kone?

Maybe try and add Fellaini nearer gw33.

Bunn is banned...Davies may have a problem with Taylor coming back and has a blank...Harte may not start...Sissoko has no DGW..Mata is no better than Haz/Lamps and too expensive..Marveaux has no DGW..Suarez is one card away from a ban and RVP is gonna be iffy for starts in the short term and is soaking your funds up...Lambert has no DGW...

Basically you've put in every player that is becoming problematic for one reason or another.

Anichebe is likely to play the next two whilst Fellaini is out, and Cazorla is a really good pick so it makes sense.

Do you see it making a big difference? I'm not that fussed either way. I mean we can even install a tram system into Edinburgh properly or on budget.

Is the new Edinburough train line still going ahead? I'm interested as URS told me they were looking likely to win the contract to design the bridges, and that would be a great way to start my career. 😀

It's crawling to a finish. The city has become disillusioned by an overpriced, unnecessary and inconvenient project. We have a perfectly good bus service and it suited the layout of the city. There is no need for a tram system other than for aesthetic reasons and the money could have been put to much better use. Roads closed all over the city, business forced to close down as noone could see or access certain premises due to the road works. It's been an epic fail. And to top it off the tram link won't be able to go direct to the airport. I think your company needs to be to careful not to get caught up in the bad PR attached to this.

It'll be a massive pain in the ass for a while having to get new passports etc and then if it all goes a bit wrong everyone will leave the country and if it goes right then you'll have even more English people moving to Scotland! Getting into the Euro would be handy though make it a lot more appealing for people thinking about a trip from Europe.

Like a peyote-induced vision, RVP out - Rooney in for a hit appeared to me in the Deadzone last night. Please hear the earthy intonations of Jim Morrison as I try to explain/recapture the insight:

(thanks to Laernu, a guide/shaman with whom I crossed paths during the experience, and HVT, the incantatory man hiding behind a cactus -- check him out ruminating across threads during the witching hour last night if you don't believe me)

If I think they will produce roughly the same from here on in, then the extra cash will give me the ability to secure an elite defender with a dgw in his future (Baines, Zab, maybe MUN) or a keeper midfielder (CHE) whose points would more than offset the -4 incurred in the extremely sideways move of RVP to Rooney. Am wondering what costs I'm not considering: is this really a -8? Is it madness? If not, I should take my hits as soon as possible so as to give my elite additions the time to earn back the difference in production, right?

Blood on the streets, it's up to my ankles...

I wouldn't do it for a hit especially this week as both could be rested at Sunderland, if you want to get rid, save some cash and for a hit go Giroud.

People will probably say you are mad... in fact they have already started above 😆

But it's a mad idea that might just suit what you want to do going forward.

For many the acquisition of RVP last week may feel like a mistake at this current time...they've just bought a 13.7m striker that has flopped. But not only that he limits their maneuverability for the DGWs that might lie ahead.

The other thing is it allows you to have a differential captain in the DGW if Man Utd have one...Rooney(c) could be genius.

Although I would normally advise against taking a hit for a move which I would personally consider a sideways on, I think your justification makes a lot of sense.

It depends on the use of the extra cash and therefore the replacements/upgrades you bring in.

Assuming the defenders come in for free transfers (which would assume you are totally happy with your attack and feel no transfers in that area are necessary), you should go ahead with it if you think your 4 point loss will be more than covered by the extra points from your replacement defenders.

Who are these defenders though and who are they replacing? If we're talking about swapping solid budget defenders for DGW defenders who aren't nailed-on, it becomes tricky to evaluate the risk vs. reward.

Thanks for the response -- strong points to consider. Defenders I'm looking at are Baines, Zabaleta, ACole for Harte, Debuchy. I just need to crunch the numbers a bit and guesstimate how much better the elites would be than my scrubs, and if the points merit, then I need to seek the funds to get them in. The sideways move could do that. Have owned RVP since GW3 wild card so it's not a one week reaction, but having shipped Michu this week I am looking at everyone as available for an upgrade.

My other option is to go for Mert, Reither slowly and use the money/transfers to make sure my attack is always DGW ready. It's a bit boring, though.

Baines is certainly a defender who has the upside to outscore other defenders. The other two are also very solid picks.

You have to decide exactly how many points you foresee you would gain making these moves though. You also have to take into account whether you need your free transfers to get an optimal attack and these changes will in fact be for hits.

If you're a member, the RMT would make that a lot easier. It's obviously not exact but it will give you a good idea as to whether there's a chance of the transfers paying off.

Sounds like the RMT machine can be misleading though...especially if you are banking on it's estimations of what a defender will score...which is sometimes very random. Sometimes you just have to go with your gut.

I would actually suggest that its estimations on defender and goalkeeper scores a lot better than those for midfielders. To a certain extent defencive points can be predicted from the past.

Going with your gut isn't enough here IMO. You need to work out realistic projections. You can do that the hard way (i.e. working them out for yourself) or you can just look at RMT as an indicator 😉

yeah but you need to use your gut to make the final decision. There are 50/50 decisions that mean you need to use a bit more than pure statistical data to come to a conclusion, otherwise you might come to some false conclusion. There are gaps to be filled in with your own intuition.

Yes, but making a decision is about using all of the information available, weighing its importance.

In this case I'm suggesting that he looks at the RMT figures to help make his decision. Nothing more, nothing less.

Looks like Koscielny will be 1st choice CB, has a goal threat too. 5.3 is a nice price.

                          He's Arsenal's best CB.

Unfortunately, he's prone to brain farts every now and then, which are usually quite costly.

He isn't good enough. I mean, he is not someone who can lead the team, which Verminator, when he is at his best, can 🙂

He has been moaning about the irrational fact that Vermaelen cant play with Kos or Mert, yet the other two are great together. Depends how you look at that whether its a compliment or not.

Thats my belief. He shouldnt play for a team where a slight mispositioning can cost the team a goal. We play a very high line and the defenders need to have excellent discipline, which he doesnt.

guardian football weekly were discussing this the other day I recall. I forget precisely what the conclusion was but something to do with verm and kos styles being too similar and that mert complements both as he sits back rather than closing down the attacker.

Not suggesting his place is in doubt just that he hasn't trained. I would imagine they would let him binge on burgers and beer all week and not have any intention of dropping him so long as he could still stand.

He hasn't trained so far this week so could be that he is going later to allow for more time to get over whatever the lack of training is caused by.

Sadly (as a Scot) it's just the usual thing of him staying with the club to wind down and check fitness after the PL match, plus do some fitness training with the experts at Spurs instead of the national team who don't know his body as well.

I wish he would just stay at home or in London...but it's not going to happen.

Yeah, Becasue Cabaye was out last match Sissoko dropped deep with Gouffran at CAM. I doubt that will last whilst Cabaye, Sissoko and Tiote are all fit. Assuming Anita will only play RB for the remainder of the season

                    Interesting fact

The last time Man Utd drew an FA cup game 2-2 at home they scored 3 goals in the opening 6 minutes of the replay.

The winner will most likely be the manager that uses the subs bench most effectively.

I just hope we won't get any controversial red cards.

If Utd had the double I was going with DDG.

If Utd don't have the double in 33, I'll get Flappyhandski in. A lot more confident on him starting both games than Jenkinson.

The transfer(s) I was planning on making this week were to be made with one eye in GW33.

This bombshell that Chelsea could have a double if they lose to United has just thrown everything up in the air, and means my transfer plans will totally change.

I might have to try and ride this week out with Fletcher up front, save my transfer, wait to see what happens in the replay on the Monday, then act accordingly with my 2FTs.

Well it was explained to me now below that they might be waiting for the result cause they would want to hold the Spurs game early if that has to be postponed. Otherwise it would make no sense to have rearranged the united game already and not do so for the Fulham Chelsea game. I would still not understand it though considering the condense schedule Chelsea have, I would expect them to postpone it as far as possible.

If they don't reschedule the Fulham game for GW33, there's only one other window to put it in, assuming Chelsea make the Europa league final, and that's GW36.

So GW33 or GW36, makes no difference which one.

If Chelsea win, the Spurs game will be moved from the weekend of GW33 to midweek GW33.

If Chelsea lose, the Spurs game will go ahead as planned on the weekend, and the Fulham game will surely be put in midweek GW33. Meaning a double for Chelsea.

That's been the thinking on here today anyway.

I can't remember who said it, but someone one here yesterday said they might be waiting until the outcome of the replay before deciding. If Chelsea win the Spurs game becomes a bigger priority as Spurs also have Europa, so they may opt to move that midweek and fit the Fulham game in another time. If they lose they know the Spurs game can go ahead as normal, and so fit the Fulham game in midweek

Ok that is the first thing that makes sense. That they are accounting for Spurs playing in europa. Too bad we have no official source on that.

A Chelsea double would be a pain, but i could cope. Suarez to Ba should free up enough cash to also bring in Lamps for Snodgrass or Sissoko. Might avoid the defence, no one bar Cech and Cashley is nailed on. Luiz is likely to be nailed on, but is also on 9 ycs meaning there's every chance he could miss one or both DGW games.

I have kept one free spot in midfield. Walcott-Caz for Arsenal DGW, Hazard-Mata for the Chelsea one. If both have in the same week, I will have to choose between Caz and Hazard, though.

🙂 good stuff. Im in a real pickle with that situation as I am considering what to do with Luiz. Currently considering ditching as the 9 yellows could ruin the DGW anyway.

almost 100 points behind one of my ML leaders. Is it crazy to change this team:

                    Bego | Bunn
                    Azpicueta | Jenkinson | Harte | Figueroa | Evans
                    Bale | Michu | Sissoko | Mata | Downing
                    RVP | Suarez | Benteke

                    to

                    Bego | Bunn
                    Azpicueta | Jenkinson | Harte | Figueroa | Evans
                    Bale | Michu | CAZ | Mata | FELLAINI
                    LAMBERT | Suarez | Benteke

                    for a -8?

I am surprised to see no United attacker in your team, if your opponent have RVP then I'd suggest you strongly to get Rooney. United on a roll this season, you just can't ignore that.
Rest looks a differential team, but do remember - its a high possibility that you might fell further 100 points if RVP score 8-10 goals in next 8 GWs.

Its Suarez vs RVP for Golden boot 🙂

If your only aim is to catch him owning RVP hinders that and you think RVP won't do well over the rest of the season, I'd consider it. I would obviously wait until GW33 to do the Downing > Fellaini though

I think my question is, who will get more points:

                        RVP + Sissoko + Downing

                        or

                        Lambert + Caz + Fellaini

RVP + Sissoko + Fellaini will return you most points. Having Walcott will be a luxury too 😉

Without taking captaincy picks into account...

Sissoko vs. Fellaini: very hard to say, even with Fellaini having an extra fixture (which is Arsenal away)

Downing vs. Cazorla - Cazorla easily.

RVP vs. Lambert - hard to say as it depends on how much gametime you think RVP will get. If you think he'll be heavily rotated, I'd say Lambert could easily outscore him.

Will he be heavily rotated though? And will you want him as captain for the DGW?

                            I'm doing:
                            Bego | Bunn
                            Azpicueta | Jenkinson | Harte | Figueroa | Evans
                            Bale | Michu | Sissoko | Mata | Downing
                            RVP | Suarez | Benteke

                            Mata>Caz this GW

and then for the DGW I will do
                            Michu>Fellaini

I'll (c) RVP almost every game, because my rival doesn't have him, and hope for the best!

I'm not trying to talk you out of it, just helping you to get to the crux of the issue 🙂

My question wasn't rhetorical. Will RVP be heavily rotated? And will you want him as captain for the DGW?

Your rival not having RVP should also be taking into account, but who scores the most points should be your primary focus. There are still a lot of game to be played and 100 points could be caught up with the right captaincy decisions and strong DGWs

Yes. This is the basis for me doing Puncheon > Caz instead of Michu > Caz this week.

In my case, I have a huge amount in the bank and the transfer is spend on getting a solid DGWer. Not sure it's as clear cut in your case.

That said, I'd argue Maloney will come in handy in the long-run. It's either him or saving the FT IMO

I've read that in training Flappyhandski looks like an absolute world beater, and Wenger has always been a massive fan. It's just that when Flappy is put into the high pressure situation of a big match day, he becomes a little mentally weak, and errors usually ensue.

Szczesny is a better keeper, anyday.
I don't think he has any weak points, except that he makes some hilarious blunders in big games.

It's possible. But as we have seen with DDG sometimes a run of games is what's needed to help. Perhaps more than anyone else keepers are confidence players. If the manager and the team show faith in him, it helps build that confidence and better performances follow. Maybe what he needs is a run of games to help build that.

Am trying to find a more reliable source than Goal.com but apparently RvP has slagged UEFA off in a pre-match Presser over the Nani red card

Maybe Fergie's told him to try and get himself a week off. A 2 game ban would ensure that 😛

Michu to Cazorla was my planned FT for the upcoming GW...

But am really getting tempted to do Michu to Hazard... as I have a feeling that Mata might be rested and Hazard will score a lot against Southampton...

My first thought was Michu -> Caz, but I'm leaning towards Mata -> Caz and keep Michu for a few more weeks since he's nailed on. I wouldn't get a Chelsea player this week, they play 4 games in 8 days and Rafa likes his rotation. Feels like a complete gamble in regards to who will start what games.

So considering a loss to united would result in a Chelsea and Fulham DGW33 resulting in 5 DGW for GW 33 and Cancel the United DGW and pushing it further along.

Would this make a GW 33 WC a better option?

It certainly makes it more appealing, though Chelsea rotation makes picking a player difficult. I have 2 United, plan to have Arsenal by this GW, so all I may need is Berba, Schwarzer/Reither and Lamps (and possibly another Chelesea, but all this could be funded by Suarez to Berba. But GW33 would still see DGWs for City and United which does make that a good option for wc as well in order to get in Aguero.

GW33 looks good, it's United and City that make a GW36 wc tempting as trying to shoehorn City players in (especially Aguero could be a pain without one)

I would also say that very few of us are considering a West Ham player for GW33, so that takes it down to 4. 3 Arsenal, 2 Everton, 2 Chelsea and 2 Fulham is what I'd be shooting for.

plus we don't know for sure this is what will happen. Chelsea may decide to push the Fulham game further back as their calendar has been so congested recently that they may prefer to take a week off.

The other problem is Chelsea have played nearly 60 games this season already. Bar Cech and maybe Cashley not sure you can count on anyone playing both games in the DGW, though I'd probably punt on Lamps, especially if he blanks v Saints

True that, looking at this. United loss would suit me better fantasy wise.

being a United fan it's tough for me. A win puts us in the semis but makes my FOL life harder as I have no Chelsea players at present. But a loss means we're out of the cup, but given I already have 2 United, getting a 3rd in would be easy and I use the wc to pick up Chelsea players 😐

What's the situation with Demel? Will he keep his place? I'm searching for 4m range defender..

Not sure, but I can say not having Demel in my squad is a very refreshing feeling......along with Gorkss he's been the most frustrating player I've had all season.....
