Gently does it. Granville and I ease ourselves into the season with another thirty-minute bite-size podcast, gradually building up our fitness before we go full tilt next month.

Yes, it’s just the pair of us again, cuddling up in our intimate studio to discuss the events of Gameweek one, whilst casting one eye on the fixtures and events to come this weekend.

We get through the usual array of regulars, with Granville explaining how a wedding and a bout of childcare threatened to ruin his campaign, just as it gets out of the blocks. We reach out to all those Siggy benchers, whilst picking the bones out United’s limp corpse following their opening day defeat. We then chat Fabregas vs Hazard, Ivanovic vs the rest (they’re going to run and run) and sing Ultimate’s praises for helping the previously unloved play their part in our Fantasy seasons.

Pick at the buffet via this link, or dash straight to the main course via the handy player below….

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I don't think I will bring Sterling in next week anymore. I reckon Balotelli will eat into his game time and worsen his position by the time his decent fixtures turn up.

I was thinking of taking a hit to make it happen and try to keep Mata if he shows something over the weekend. Don't know now but I am sure there will be some new bandwagon by next week

I don't share the same concerns. Sterling is just class, he is only going to get better he is still just a teenager. He is going to have loads of points this season, more quality around him will only help, I think.

Vancouver is great. I don't get there often enough.
Funny, but I think I would prefer our winter of unbearable temperatures and occaisonal huge snowfalls to the daily drizzle in Vancouver. The rest of the year is another matter.

Daily drizzle? We've only had about three or four days of rain early June.* I hear Montreal is a great city, but I've never got closer than Ottawa.

No, not at all. There aren't even many Man U supporters!

I know one guy who like the Spurs. I don't even know anyone who supports the local club. Football (non American) is really not that popular aside from people who have moved here from somewhere else. The increase of popularity in the US is mostly from immigrants and their families.

I really connected with the story of the name and such and I only support teams I in some way care about, I never pick one just to have one, especially not a good one for the sake of supporting a winner.

The only other team I follow is Wiggan, because Wallace and Grommit are from Wigan.

All good! its weird the 'dislike' you are supposed to have for rivals. I loved the derby games, especially away at the old Manor Ground. As you get older you kind of get more perspective, i don't hate any individual because of who they support, still love the atmosphere inside the grounds though and wins vs Oxford, Bristol C/R and to a lesser extent reading are the best. Good luck to you whoever you support.

Katie, do you think Monk will roll out the 4-4-2 for the home games? I am inclined to think he will. Doesn't necessarily mean that Gylfi can't produce FPL points from the wing, but at least it would give me more hope. Anything to dent off Gylfi's potential while I am Gylfiless will do!

I would've said very good chance until Siggy's performance last weekend. But he still may. Gomis is definitely too good to sit the bench at Swans on a consistent basis.

I honestly have no idea, nothing like that has been reported in local press.

I think the team will remain unchanged fwiw. Gomis and Montero's time will gradually increase and if Bony stays the team will morph into 4-4-2.

Funny that I'm quite content with Giroud. On penalties now that Arteta is out. Main striker for a team that scores a lot. Everton is not an easy fixture, but he has a good chance for some atracking returns.
The only problem is that his price may drop (probably saturday at the rate things are going). If Giroud blanks on saturday, then I may have a real dilemma.

Ok, Hutton I can see as a starting 4.0 defender. Allows more investment elsewhere.
But getting Vlaar now? Seems nuts. Playable (marginally) this week, and then nailed to the bench for a month...

But, Vlaar was good in the World Cup!

Remember the glorified exhibition tournament where a bunch of strangers played under a different manager in some steamy jungle / smog filled city?

He was very good in that tournament & AVL had a CS last week to boot so, that means we should buy Vlaar.

Can play wide or through the centre, though he prefers to play next to an out an out forward I believe. I would think that he'd slot into Remy's position when he's presumably sold by the end of the transfer window.

That's the Peruvian Vargas I'm guessing you're talking about, in Serie A.,

Edu has always played centrally, either as a false 9 in U de Chile, or paired up w/ another striker on the national side.

He might have the pace for a winger, but definitely not the crossing or passing ability

what are we thinking will be balotelli's role?

the spearhead of a 4-2-3-1 with sterling as no.10 and studge on the left? (not too likely)

partnering up with studge in a 4-4-2?

cup games and backup for studge in the league?

just can't help but feel that studge AND balotelli at the same time will leave no one to defend. and it seems nuts to place studge on the left when he can be so effective when played up top. mario is good too, but doesn't seem to return the same amount of goals as studge
