Nacer Chadli bags a brace while Emmanuel Adebayor serves up a goal and assist as Spurs hammer QPR at the Lane. Juan Mata nets for United and Seb Larsson is in the points again for Sunderland, while Bojan Krkic is benched and James Chester sees red as Stoke grab a point at 10-man Hull.

Eriksen Blanks in Spurs Rout
Spurs continued their early-season form with a 4-0 home demolition of QPR yesterday. A double from Nacer Chadli, allied with a pair of assists from Erik Lamela underlines the growing number of midfield options under Mauricio Pochettino, although Christian Eriksen, with over 12% Fantasy Premier League (FPL) ownership, again failed to get amongst the points. Up front, Emmanuel Adebayor continues to get the nod for league matches and a goal and assist from the Togo international suggests he could yet be the standout candidate in the mid-price forwards bracket.

Dier Does it Again
With Kyle Walker still sidelined and Kyle Naughton suspended, the summer signing was shifted to right-back to accommodate Jan Vertonghen at the heart of the Spurs defence yesterday. Dier replicated his goal-scoring exploits of Gameweek 1 by netting once again, and while there’s no doubt the competition for places is heating up at the back, his threat in the box is making it very difficult for Pochettino to leave him out right now. Despite a home encounter with Liverpool next weekend, the bandwagon looks set to continue over the next seven days.

Austin Sidelined with Hamstring Problem
Charlie Austin’s hamstring injury absence allowed Matt Philips to partner Loic Remy up front for the R’s yesterday. Harry Redknapp’s side now have home fixtures against Sunderland and Stoke on either side of a trip to United but with their form has been far from convincing. Austin owners may be tempted by a trade to Steven Naismith – priced at 5.1 to the QPR man’s 6.0, the Scot has picked up a goal and maximum bonus in each of his two appearances thus far and looks poised for continued pitch time – at least until Everton enter the market for new attacking options.

Mata Opens His Account
Sold by over 94,000 FPL managers last week after an opening day blank, the Spaniard picked up the points in United’s 1-1 draw at Sunderland. While Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie toiled up top in a disappointing display by the visitors, Mata’s strike, allied with the maximum bonus points, underlined his potential in the role in “the hole” behind the front two. In spite of an uninspiring display from United, Rooney and Mata owners will likely be persuaded to hold as Louis van Gaal’s side now square up to each of the promoted sides in the next three Gameweeks. Those considering Van Persie may choose to monitor for now, with the Dutchman looking some way short of full sharpness – he failed to register a single attempt on goal before being replaced midway through the second period.

Larsson On the Radar
The Swede provided the equaliser for Jack Rodwell’s strike to maintain his impressive early-season form yesterday. Larsson grabbed a goal and couple of bonus points in last week’s draw at West Brom and has now climbed to fourth in the FPL midfield standings on 14 points. Despite a very kind 5.5 price tag, the Black Cats man currently sits in just 3% of sides right now, but with QPR, Burnley, Swansea and Stoke in the next five, he could be set for further investment.

Chester Sees Red in Tigers Stalemate
Drafted in by almost 130,000 FPL managers on the back of a 15-point return in Gameweek 1, the Hull centre-half is set to miss next week’s trip to Villa. Chester lasted just 13 minutes before being dismissed for a professional foul but, despite playing most of the match with 10 men, the hosts still managed to pick up a draw against Stoke after Nikica Jelavic opened the scoring in a 1-1 draw. Tom Ince retained his spot alongside the Croatian up front although he was forced to drop back into midfield once Chester was dismissed and was eventually replaced on 55 minutes as the Tigers looked to shore things up further. With West Ham, Newcastle and Palace also still to follow in the next five, Ince still remains a viable budget midfield option if Steve Bruce fails to secure new faces before the transfer window closes.

Bojan Benched for Potters
The Spaniard dropped to the bench for Stoke’s first away trip of the season. Owned by over 16% of FPL managers, Bojan was introduced just before the break as Mark Hughes attempted to take advantage of the 10-man Tigers but he failed to make an impact as the Potters struggled to break down the hosts’ rearguard. With Naismith looking increasingly tempting as an alternative, Bojan already looks on borrowed time for a number of Fantasy managers – with a trip to Man City up next, plenty look poised to part company over the next few days.

Morning all, I have 2 FTs and zero in bank but unsure what transfer to make. Considering Krul in for Begovic or Naughton to Dummett, what do people think?

    Begovic Gilks
    Cahill Clyne Debuchy Wisdom Naughton
    Sigurdsson Ramsey Mata Hazard Traore
    Rooney Costa Austin

After Dier's showing at RB yesterday I'd imagine Naughton is dropping down the pecking order, especially with Walker back soon

Well Naughton is a rotation risk, that's where I would focus my energy. Who is this Traore character?

If Austin is fit for fight this weekend, I think I'd go Naughton -> Dummett and save one FT.

        Thanks for replies all.

Traore is my 4.5 midfield bench fodder Dogba, left wing back for QPR. Ya Naughton gamble backfired so that looks a good transfer, Newcastle look OK at the back and fixtures are half decent.

Sanchez never reached the heights of Di Maria in La Liga.

Everyone at Real Madrid are shocked to the core they've let him leave. Bar Ronaldo he's probably been their best player this last few seasons

Goals and assists or what? Because they had entirely different roles in the team and to be fair, while I think it's a lot of money, he was widely hailed for his performance last season. No CL either means it costs more.

if they had entirely different roles in their teams i'ts a very bold statement to say di maria was better than sanchez. at least sanchez has stats on his side. Di maria never really reached a world class level until ozil's transfer

                  11 years, 7 months ago

I didn't say Di Maria was better, just making the argument that first of all they played different roles and second Sanchez wasn't seen (despite his stats, which I'm still waiting to see if we're just talking about goals and assists) as important to Barcelona as Di Maria was seen for Real. And yes, he's been a late bloomer regarding discovering his best position/role but every season he's played at Madrid he has had double figures for assists. So he is consistent in that area.

Looks like Balotelli and Di Maria deals are done and dusted.
Just wondering from FPL point of of view - what is expected from these 2 recruits?

Can Di Maria in his debut PL season outscore the likes of RVP, Rooney, Mata ?
Can Balotelli fill the void left by Suarez departure?

Also what is the FPL price expectation for Di Maria & Balotelli ?

Don't expect much from either really. Utd are very questionable. Will give them time to see how they lineup and perform regularly. Can give LVG his 3 months.

And wrt Balotelli, I'm not sure how him and Sturridge are going to play regularly together. Balotelli would have to be ~8mil to tempt me.

I would start with Ward > 4.0 (probs Moore), then see what you can afford.

As an alternative, but you could also 'downgrade' Bojan (if such a thing is possible!) to a 4.5 like Zamora, and use cash to beef up defence, playing 4-4-2

Waiting for tonight's game to see if it throws up any fresh issues, but after that is there any reason not to pull trigger on Bego > Krul? (One FT)

This will free some funds to do Caulker > Clyne following GW - can't make this trade now, as have £0.0M in bank.

Thanks all (and will look at some other posts now)

    Bego (Gilks)
    Caulker, Cahill, Naylor, Chester, Wisdom,
    Ramsey, Sterling, Fab, Siggy, Wanyama
    Costa, Rooney, Dzeko

Clyne is 5.1, Caulker also might drop by then.

If there's an alternative to Wanyama that plays higher up the pitch then do that. Good player but not good for FF

I've already done Bego to Krul. Have watched both teams, and can't see Stoke keeping a CS much at the moment. Newcastle have looked good in both GW1 and 2.

Yeah this. Di Maria is more of a creator rather than scorer.

Will be Silva-like but not as consistent because he won't be MU's focal creative point with Mata and Rooney around.

    Krull/Gilks
    Ivanovic, Chambers, Dummett, Wisdom, Bruce

No money ITB and no free FT left.

Anyone still keeping the Rooney, Costa, Sturridge frontline? Thinking of dropping one to upgrade midfield. Probably holding until international break.

Still have all 3. Depends on how Strurridge & Aguero do tonight.
If Aguero's on fire, will use the FT + 0.5itb
      If Sturridge scores, then hold.
If neither, then probably Sturridge->Ade, for Mutch->Sterling next week OR hold for 2 FTs during international break.

If Balotelli pushes Sturridge out wide (it's happening without Balo already), and Sterling continues his form, yes.

Hello lads, I'm back and I have a dilemma.

Where to spend my 2 FTs and how to fit in Clyne and Caulker

    DDG, 4.0

    Terry, Caulker, Naylor (Clyne, Moore)

    Hazard, Ramsey, Hazard, Siggy (Marney)

    Rooney, Costa, Austin

Am thinking maybe just Austin to Long or Naismith and carry the other one? Thus I bench Naismith and p[lay 4-4-2

Morning. Have FTs at the mo and this:

    Begovic Krul

    Jones Debuchy Terry PvA Chester

    Ramsey Siggy Mata Fabregas Isgrove

    Rooney Costa Bojan

0 ITB. For some reason I don't want Naismith and there are really no other options for a straight swap with Bojan. Am currently on Isgrove > Larsson, Bojan > 4.5 (don't know which, maybe a punt on Wood at Leicester) and playing 3 - 5 - 2.
