Our Friday lunchtime regular is rolled out once more as we scour the PlayON Player Price List ahead of tomorrow’s 10.45am deadline. We’ll be offering a couple of picks per position this term, with an essential weekend target and a left-field alternative for your consideration.

It’s also worth noting that, as of today, PlayON have launched daily Fantasy games. In addition to the usual weekly game, you can now pick teams just from players featuring each day. There’s a £500 Guaranteed Pot for both Saturday and Sunday this weekend and a £1,000 Guaranteed Pot for the full Gameweek.

Goalkeeper – Brad Guzan
Aston Villa have racked up back-to-back clean sheets in their opening two matches and this defensive solidity looks poised to continue as Hull pay visit on Sunday. Guzan is a big reason for the shut outs so far and the kindly priced American (7.4m) could offer good value against a Tigers side that scored just 18 times on their travels last term. A slightly more expensive option is Wojciech Szczesny. Available for 8.0m, the Pole offers a cheap route into an obstinate Arsenal back line that travel to Leicester this weekend and, as demonstrated in the Champions League play-off win over Besiktas, his shot-stopping potential could be key as the Gunners seek their first league shut-out of the campaign.

Defender – Daryl Janmaat
The Newcastle full-back offers points potential at both ends of the pitch ahead of a home encounter with Crystal Palace. Janmaat looks a bargain at only 7.7m and, as evidenced by his five assists and two goals in 30 Eredivisie appearances for Feyenoord last season, offers plenty of attacking intent against an Eagles side still in a transitional period under new manager Neil Warnock. Manchester City’s home clash with Stoke at the Etihad is impossible to overlook and brings Aleksandar Kolarov into contention as our defensive punt. While City skipper Vincent Kompany is available for 9.3m, the left-back takes up just 8.0m of your budget – having been benched for Monday’s match with Liverpool, his attacking intent could well get the nod against the Potters, for those willing to roll the dice.

Midfielder – Nacer Chadli
It’s not often you can acquire a player who scored two goals in the previous round of fixtures for just 7.7m. Chadli looks to have been handed a new lease of life under Mauricio Pochettino and will fancy his chances of continuing that form against Liverpool’s shaky rearguard as Tottenham welcome the Merseysiders to White Hart Lane this Sunday. We turn to Manchester City again for the next midfield pick. While Yaya Toure hasn’t scored or assisted yet this season, the Ivorian has still been heavily involved in the champions’ build up play and could finally reap reward against the travel-sick Potters. With so much uncertainty surrounding the pitch time of City’s front men, Toure, at 10.0m, is a cheaper option that – injuries aside – will surely feature from start to finish against Mark Hughes’ side.

Forward – Wilfried Bony
Another Ivorian who is yet to net this season. In spite of his drought, Bony has still managed to deliver the points reasonably well so far in PlayON and, at a favourably priced 9.8m, could finally get his goal account up and running against West Brom at the Liberty. With Olivier Giroud facing a period on the sidelines, we turn to Alexis Sanchez for Arsenal’s trip to Leicester. The Chilean has started the last two matches up front for the Gunners and notched the midweek winner over Besiktas – at 10.5m in PlayON this week, he could be poised to plunder a Foxes defence that has afforded their opponents 21 shots inside the box in the opening two Gameweeks.

The New Arrivals
It’s also worth noting a trio of high-profile additions to the top-flight over the last few days. PlayON have handed Angel de Maria a 9.1m price tag for United’s trip to Burnley, while Mario Balotelli sets you back just 10.4m as Liverpool make their way to the Lane. Everton new boy Samuel Eto’o takes up just 9.8m of your budget as he welcomes former club Chelsea to Goodison Park and could be in line for an immediate start if Romelu Lukaku fails to recover from an ongoing toe problem.

That was my thinking Raddy. Can see Burnley scoring and i'd imagine QPR will go back to bare basics this week. Seen it a million times!

Half want to go for Caulker as he's done naff all so far.

He is also a much more exciting choice imo. P.Jones who might get a 6 from a CS or Caulker, a high scoring defender who has got braces before, could bring in a haul.

Can't say I'm too happy to have double Newc defence no... Just hate the thought of having a guaranteed blank for Bego this week really and Krul is cheaper

      Do it now:
      Likely outcome:

      Krul - CS ~ 6 points

      Don't do it now:
      L.O:

Bego - No CS ~ 1/2 pointer (STO fixies after city : LEI,qpr,NEW,sun,SWA)

2 FTs during the International Break + Transfer deadline week. Could come in very handy.

Depends on how likely you are to keep Bego after this week. If you won't then do the transfer, if you might then don't.

Jove is the in form striker at the moment, and according to Pellegrini's comments the other day, he will start

Now that Aguero is 'absolutely fine' according to Pellegrini, obviously he would play him over Dzeko who has been poor this season

Have you heard all of Pelle's comments this season? About Aguero needing a long preseason (which is now) to build up fitness so he doesn't break down every other game. I think another cameo is very likely then another fortnight to build fitness.

Yeah but getting knocked out of CL twice in a year in qualifiers does not support that atm. No doubt the lack of challengers in their league is hurting them big time.

        1. RabMac
          • 12 Years
          11 years, 10 months ago

The lack of challengers is not a problem. The problem we have at the minute is we have a new manager and some players are either not good enough or not suited to the system he wants to play. We have seen glimpses of how great it will be once we perfect the system. Just missing a good striker and LB at the moment, although I do suspect we will lose our star player before the close of the transfer window.

Forster was certainly one of our top players but I was referring to van Dijk. He is far too good to play in Scotland so expect him to leave but hope I am wrong.

I don't think they will get crushed, but I wouldn't bet a penny on who qualifies from this group; it's very even. You obviously know nothing about Krasnodar, but I reckon they may prepare a surprise for the rest of the teams. They just beat Real Sociedad 3:0 yesterday.

Damn you! You and your article are pushing me dangerously close to Rooney -> Kun (-4) 😉 (already have Jovetic)

          Really Rooney kun?
Over the next three games do you think aguero will out score Rooney

That's the big question isn't it. Can United bowl over the promoted sides and will Kun get injured...

If United weren't so dysfunctional, I'd say it was a close thing. But nothing I've seen suggests that they're going to blow their opponents away.

😉 😆 Coupled with the Pelle news! Jonty did make Aguero the star of my article though. Came out really nicely 😛

I guess it depends on how well you think Rooney & United will perform over the coming weeks. If you believe the arrival of ADM, and a potential shift to 433 will dent his appeal, then bringing in Kun could be great idea.

I don't think I would make that move though, but then again I shifted out Costa for Kun(-4) even before the rumours of a Costa injury went around 😆

either starts and 60 minutes which is unlikely or come on for jovetic or dzeko at the 70 minute mark, being as it's stoke and their reputation it's likely to be the latter

Been in my team from the start, will keep for at least this GW and see how he does. Hovering over the captain button.

So easy to transfer to Rambo though as would free up extra cash. His potential and differential mean I will keep for time being

You could argue all top four teams are fixture proof. Build your team round them and they will score points more often than not.

Better than dallying around with ince, bojan, jwp, etc etc just because they have good fixtures

Nice team, though I fancy QPR to buck their trend and beat sunderland but that's only my opinion and probably not the general consensus.

Two defenders from teams playing against each other is risky though, especially with Bruce unlikely to play apparently.
