With the international break affording us time to reflect on proceedings, we roll out the first in a series of three members articles. Starting with the defenders, we assess some of the standout contenders across the first three Gameweeks of the 2014/15 campaign.
-
Considering Lovren>Moreno. Here are my thoughts (comments and advice appreciated!):
For:
- Lovren might drop to 5.4, Moreno set to rise to 5.6 (highest % on Fiso)
- Moreno is nailed on as an attacking fullback playing almost as a winger, but will also get CS points
- Dropping 0.1 at DEF is like losing 0.5 trade power. I already lost 0.1 on Caulker.
- If Lovren drops I can reacquire him cheaper later.
- I won't have to worry anymore about prospect thatprices have changed and I missed out.
- If Moreno continues to rise then I may have missed out on him. Could be this years Coleman.
Against:
- Too sideways, and FT could be better used elsewhere or saved for next GW.
- Lovren more likely to get CS bonus pts as a CB.
- Lovren nailed on and a goal threat on set pieces and has replaced Skrtel as focal point.
- Moreno might be a rotation risk with Enrique or Flanagan once CL starts (unlikely though).
- Regardless of price Lovren is a good long-term pick.-
Madness unless on wc
-
I have a FT and no other pressing transfer needs. If I were to WC the team I have is what I would pick, apart from maybe picking Balotelli instead of Rooney.
Thus its not really madness imo. Its a tighter-than-tight 50-50 though.-
Don't agree with your rationale 😀 Things change extremely rapidly in this game we play and I would be wayyy more concerned with getting rid of Rooney than switching Liverpool defenders.
-
I want to give Rooney the QPR game because I think he could come good. I think i'll trade him after that though even if he scores.
-
-
-
-
2nd point against isn't true any more
-
Hmmm. There's been plenty of CB's getting bonus points without scoring, just look at Jones and Ashley Williams. There's been less fullbacks picking up bonus pts without assists or goals as far as I can tell...
-
You'll need to explain this. Lovren bosses the bps.
-
-
It's a tough one but this move is a bit too sideways for my liking. Yes Moreno scored against spurs and had a good game but don't forget what a mare he had against City.
-
Sunny for some reason your message disappeared before anyway Vamos 🙂
-
Please ignore me, my jumping between articles led to mass confusion 🙂
-
Haha..yeah I noticed that you've got a bit confused 🙂
-
-
He won't be playing at the Etihad again this season though. Apart from that error he had a really strong game but unfortunately everyone only remembers the big moments. He could have had 2 assists with some more luck.
-
-
You make great points and unfortunately it's too hard to call. If I had to choose.... It's be security of starts with Lovern until Moreno establishes himself as out and out first choice?!
-
Moreno is just as first choice as Lovren is now though.
-
-
Not worth it. Once Lovren bags a goal everyone will be thinking of going the other way
-
Yes thats true, but in the meantime I would have earned 0.1 and saved 0.1, and be able to buy Lovren back on the back of his bandwagon. Its a knee-jerky strategy but I want to avoid price drops as much as possible while trading for players who are either rising or undervalued. Moreno is certainly rising and is also undervalued (though Lovren is also undervalued imo)
-
-
Stick with Lovren (I am) feels too much like a sideways move IMO
-
Yes I am leaning this way too, but I really don't want Moreno to be "the one that got away" ...
-
-
I'd do Lovren>Bertrand and cash in the extra 0.5
-
already have clyne 🙂
would consider janmaat too but also have krul in goal 🙂
-
-
I would do Lovren to moreno. Think he'll be great offensive for lfc!
-
Would you say FISO has been slightly closer to risers/fallers than FPL?
-
-
Should I WC...?
De Gea,
Cahill, kosciel, colocini, lovren
Haz, siggy, ramsey, cattermole
costa rooney jovetic-
No, looks ok. Maybe downgrade Kos to free funds to upgrade clattermole
-
-
Which 3 to play? 🙂
Terry (SWA), Caulker (MUN), Chambers (MCI), Moore (STK), Wisdom (EVE)
OR I have 1FT and 0.5mil in the bank, any possible transfer suggestions?
Cheers! 🙂-
Drop the ones playing Manchester teams
-
Terry, Caulker & Chambers
-
Terry Caulker Moore. No way Chambers gets a start against City anyways, and even if he did he won't get a CS.
-
-
Hi guys standard post about my team but would appreciate any comments, no transfers left for this gw and took a -4 this week,
Starting 11 for gw4
GK: Krul
DEF: Vlaar / Ivanovic / Moreno
MID: Ramsey / Hazard / Sterling / Siggurdsson
FOR: Costa / Sturridge (C) / Naismith
BENCH: Guzan / Wisdom / Cattermole / Bruce
Thanks guys and let me know what you think? Unsure has to who i should captain but I feel like taking a punt on studge as captain :L-
Brave call on captain... Costa I think would be most people's choice!
-
Hmm, true, but swansea have looked pretty good, then again costa has also looked v.good
-
-
You're starting Vlaar over Wisdom?
Rest looks good-
true, maybe I will swap him out actually 🙂
-
-
-
Thinking about benching Siggy this week. I can't be the only one right?
Zaha at home vs Burnley...-
Im benching him aswell
-
That's two crazies.
-
-
if you had the choice Lucy, who would you rather have, Zaha or Puncheon??
-
Zaha. Just got him in. I could have bought Puncheon as it was a Mata downgrade. Just fancy him to do well under Warnock, whereas I have no idea if the Puncheon-Warnock personal problems might resurface.
-
ye, where is Zaha playing at CPL? (Sorry for the info grabbing)
I would also Bench siggy for either of the CPL players-
Well he only just got the loan last week so played as a sub. However, Chamakh is injured so he may play behind Gayle.
-
You're a member so check out his stats for that 21 minute appearance! 🙂
-
ye I did it was like he was centre FWD and I was amazing at his action in and around the box!!
-
-
-
-
-
There's an entire hot topic devoted to this
I'd consider doing it but my alternatives are
Caulker/Moore, Naylor and Marney-
Thanks for the heads up on the hot topic!
Ah yeah, limited choices.
Would you do it in my position?-
No.
-
-
-
I don't have that luxury
-
Nice transfer 😉 Doing exactly the same
-
You persuaded me! I wanna know what you do with the money when you use it 😉
-
Probably need it for a Di Maria, Falcao or Aguero wagon. Or to get Mata back
-
Actually I already spent some of it on Chambers to Ivanovic
-
That's quite a lot of it 😛
-
Did you take a hit for that move Rover?
-
Yep, beat the rise and now don't have to play Caulker 😎
-
So many early transfers floating around!
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
Too risky to do this week with Zaha still a good chance he may not feature. Could be a week too soon. I really back Zaha but I wouldn't start him over Siggy this weekend even though he does has a plum fixture. Probably earned himself a start after his heroics this past weekend but that slight risk edges it towards Siggy for me.
-
-
Thanks for that, WR 🙂
-
-
If I've got him in, I think I've got to go for it. No point in having him if I'm not prepared to risk it in this situation. I take your point though, there is a risk involved.
-
Yep. Either way hope Zaha has a blinder - Palace could really use the 3 points.
-
-
-
Im benching him too, and playing Naismith and Tadic instead
-
-
slow evening
-
Anyone else here watch 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia?' Can't believe I've only just found it
-
I live in Philadelphia. It does get cloudy from time to time
-
You just turned my whole world upside down
-
-
Hilarious show
-
Watched most of it 3 times, I love that show.
-
watched it a few times. good show
-
Gets tiring that every episode is the same exact formula over and over but at it's best, especially in the first 3 or 4 seasons, it's hilarious
-
Just cracking into season 4 now, me and my girlfriend love it! Just gets better and better. The North Korea episode kills me, had to watch it a couple more times straight after 😀
-
-
Watch Zlatan's goal against Estonia tonite.....
http://youtu.be/ZvSfLLYwmBk -
-
For anyone who watched Burnley vs Man U on BT Sport will have noticed 2 things:
1) Burnley had more chances on goal than United
2) Burnley pressed very well and there seemed no way through for Man U even though they had Rooney, RVP, Di Maria and Mata as their front 4!
I wouldn't be automatically thinking "He's against Burnley, so he'll bag a hatfull"-
Di maria looked like the only one who was up for the game on Manchester United's team. Burnley did play very well but their final ball wasn't the best.
-
-
You didn't watch the game then.
-
Yes, I definitely did. United created nothing. All went through the centre (very predictable and easy to defend against) or to kick-and-run Valencia (again, predictable).
United's best chances came from a great ball by Di Maria to RVP, Di Maria's cross to Mata (down the wing) and Young's penalty appeal (down the wing). Other than that, all very predictable as explained.
Poor from United.
-
-
-
They looked pretty solid against Man U. However Chelsea sliced them open with ease
-
Not in the 2nd half they didn't. It was a mad 10 mins that's all.
-
-
I'm not assuming that at all but think Burnley might be easier to break down than Chelsea.
-
It's also down to the many many problems with United.
-
-
United played into Burnley's hands with some hopefull punts towards RVP and struggled to get in behind them. I was impressed with how well organised Burnley were. That said, a match fit RVP and in form Rooney might have been enough to win the match.
-
-
Anyone saw that 4th goal from WHam
in friendly against Ipswich?
Really great goal
Song and Ravel combining-
Class goal.
Just goes to show theres bags of talent available, just need a manager who can get the best out of them..-
Yeah I dont really like Big Sams football filosophy
-
-
-
Non-league Basingstoke Town have made an audacious bid to sign Brazil's World Cup winner Ronaldinho. !!!!!!
http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/29067406-
Time to sign up for Fantasy Pub Team Football
-
First Blackburn, now Basingstoke!
-
-
Daley Blind is having a shocker. Afraid to pass the ball forwards and thus only playing it back to the other defenders.
-
Dutch footballer of the year and he cant pass the ball.
What the F is going on?
-
-
I will play 3-5-2 most weeks
Krul
Moreno, Ivan ,COLEMAN/BAINES
Sterling, Siggy, Rambo, Fabs, SILVA/NASRI/GERARRD
Costa, Naismith
Elliot, Weimann, N.Taylor, Hutton-
You'll hate having that forward line if two or three premium forwards start firing.
-
*when
-
Forward line leaves a lot to be desired. If aguero or falcao hit form you are screwed
-
-
-
Far too weak a frontline!
-
-
Please help someone, my grav appears to have vanished!!!
Any idea how to rectify?
Thanks 🙁-
Did you log in to your gravatar account to see what's the problem ?
-
Yeah and its displaying my usual grav! I changed my email address earlier but nothing else. Really don't understand as it was fine earlier:-(
Thanks for your reply-
You must use the same email address for gravatar and this site.

Need Vincent tan with malaysian and Australian flags in the background. Let me know if you can do them I'll mail you the pics

If not then no worries I think KIP can do it too
-
Let me have a try first.. Can you mail it to me now?
-
Got to go. Tommorw
-

Thanks Aaron. I've changed my grav email account so both match now. Not sure whether this works now..I hate being anonymous and really liked my grav!

bring on QPR!
😀-
as far as chants go
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wh6PwL0JMks-
loved me some Viva Ronaldo
and the Hargreaves one-
I prefer Viva John Terry 😛
Anderson's was brilliant-
😆

-
-
anyone has / seen any articles analyzing and comparing lamela eriksen and chadli?
trying to figure out he is more likely to score more points-
become a member and use the comparison tool 😉
-
-
Nice header Busquets 😆
-
Check out a new article I've written on the most surprising players of the season so far..
http://www.ftbpro.com/posts/toby.bryant/1245042/the-5-surprising-players-of-the-season-so-far-
Not sure on Nathan Dyer there.
-
Good job btw.
-
-
-
any NFL fans around? if so, what team do you support?
-
Yes. Giants 🙂
-
better year this year for you guys or more of the same?
-
I am prepared for more of the same. 8-8 looks about right for us probably narrowly missing a WC spot for the playoffs. Should take some growing pains with the new OC this year.
-
it's too bad. Eli seems to have dropped off a notch.
think you'll finish ahead of the cowboys and redskins?-
I'm expecting Skins to be 4th and really a three-way fight for 1-3 in the div. Usually ends up that way, all three nyg phi dal in some order will be 9-7, 8-8, 7-9. Or there about.
-
I think Philly will walk that div this year.
I'm usually way off mind -
I think Eagles could hit 10 wins tbh. best team in the division imo
but yes it's usually a tight division that comes down to the last week
-
-
-
-
What about you TW?
-
Hawks! really looking forward to tonight, should be a good game
-
Ended up with both Ryan and Jackson in my fantasy team. Hope your week one game is high scoring 🙂 Yeah ready for NFL to start. More sports is always better than less sports.
-
-
-
-
-
Not a fan, but I support Bengals 🙂
-
why the Bengals? 😕
-
One of the best athletes, and coolest guy from my country is playing there, and should be starting this season. Google Margus Hunt, guy went to US to train track and field, was a discus thrower and shot put guy, but got drafter a few years later :D, broke some records in the combine and should be great once he figures it out, beast of a man.
-
Legend from Hard Knocks.
-
yep
-
-
He is only person from my country in a top league in any major team sport, so anyone in my country who cares about sports at all keeps up to date with Bengals results at least.
-
that's as good a reason as any 😀
interesting that
-
-
-
-
-
Lions! Looking forward to the season starting later on.
-
tough division battle vs the packers I reckon.
hope Tate does well for you guys-
He will have a beast season - CBs won't know how to deal with him AND Megatron.
Can't wait for Wembley!!-
most teams could struggle yeah.. think the Cardinals and the Patriots will match up well out of the teams you play
and my Hawks if we play in the postseason-
We might get a WC, no way Stafford can keep it together all season.
-
-
-
-
-
Eagles 'til death
-
Ugh.
-
😉
-
-
Yes. This
-
Unlucky to lose to Saints at the death last season - Deep postseason comin your way this year I'd say
-
Seahawks, Saints, Packers, Eagles plus two from Panthers/Niners/Cardinals imo. NFC playoffs are going to be very tough this year
-
No 9ers (I hope). They seem to be the hipster team of choice 🙂
-
would love it if they didn't make the playoffs! hard to see it though....
-
Would love the Cards - purely for more Patrick Peterson
-
hope he has a terrible season 😉
-
-
-
-
-
-
think Sproles and everyone else will be able to make up for the loss of Jackson?
-
-
Peyton Manning fan ever since Colts. Don't really support a team, just enjoy watching 🙂
-
+1 Manning is great too
-
-
Cowboys and Broncos ( that Simpson episode)
Only game I get to see is Superbowl, did catch highlights last year though -
Jets.
-
-
Will Rooney drop tonight?
How accurate is totalFPL, or is FISO more accurate?-
neither.
-
neither is very accurate
-
-
Which is the better option?
Krul and Ivanovic
Or
Courtois and Moreno-
a
-
Tough one
A just about -
b 🙂
-
In exact same dilemma
-
A, expensive keepers aren't worth it. Courtois won't get much more than krul
-
A, premium keepers don't get baps - premium defenders do.
-
-
-
A
-
A, comfortably.
-
-
These internationals are killing me. Just finished Fargo S1 with the GF. Now new emptiness.
-
Is it any good? Recorded the whole series but never got around to watching it so just deleted it.
-
-
Wow Berdych is shite. What a crap match.
Cilic vs Berdych
6-2, 6-4. Boooooorrrriiiiiiiinnnnnggggg-
Tennis is boring regardless.
-
Cilic is a v gd hard court player it's still a surprise but not a huge one
-
AF! I do believe you are a free agent?! Fancy some Hockey world cup action?!
-
Indeed. Another final for federer probably can't see him losing to either colic or monfils
-
-
Wildcarding now. Is it worth adding Di Maria?
-
I think Rooney or falcao are better options for united cover would rather have cesc, sterling, Ramsey silva, Sanchez before di maria
-
Did you see his performance last night, defo worth a punt!
-
Too expensive too risk imo especially when so many good midfielders. Doesn't have amazing stats tbh
-
-
-
I think he's a great pick...Not only did he perform really well last night but his stats were fab in the World Cup as well...However...he's playing with just about the best team in the world when he's with Argentina, amongst friends, no language thing going on...blah , blah, blah... You only need to look at Lamela and Ozil last season to see what a fish out of water looks like....
-
That's the downside of wildcarding now.....you don't know.
-
-
Courtois
Caulker, Debuchy, Clyne
Sanchez, sterling, Fabregas, Siggy, Tadic
Costa, Sturridge
Like my team except kinda a weak defense with debuchy. Should I keep or get a new defender to replace him? -

Is a forward line of Falcao, Costa, Aguero worth having if it means the rest of your team looks like the below?
Krul Elliot
PVA Wilson Moore wisdom duff
Fabregas Ramsey siggy sterling Boyd-
Yes
-
Thanks, I will hold fire for now but that front line is so tempting.
-
The forwards + midfield are good, the defence is ok for rotation.
-
-
-
defence is shyte but mf is good
-
Falcon out to Welbz.
Don't worry bout United-
How can I forget about Falcao?
-
1 Doubt he'll start
2 Past his peak (+after big injury)
3 Your other 2 forwards are better prospects
-
-
-
Could pay off
-
Nope...Two premium forwards and one fixtures forward...You don't need to tie down one of your forward picks....
-
Who would you pick as your two from Falcao Aguero and Costa?
-
-
Horrible defence but it could work.
-
It's not worth it, too weak on defence.. Just have 2 of those players is enough imo
-
Who would you pick as your two from Falcao Aguero and Costa?
-
Falcao and Costa.
-
-
-
Yep. I'm really happy with my team with these 3 up front!
-
-
Should I WC? Very concerned about defence or best just to take the hits..
Foster
Terry\Moore\Wisdom
Siggy\Sterling\Ramsey\Coutinho
Costa\Sturridge\Rooney
Myhil\Marney\Hutton\Chambers-
Team is very good bar Coutinho although he should start this week
-
No WC. Would focus on Moore, Chambers and Coutinho. Might have to drop one of your strikers to improve M/D. One idea:
Rooney -> Dzeko
Coutinho -> Fab
Chambers -> Williams/Bertrand
Could do all hits this week or space them out over 2.
-
-
How's this for a wildcard team?
Begovic Gilks
Ivanovic Clynne PVA Hutton Colo
Fabs Rambo Sterling Siggy Marney
Falcao Costa Wellbeck-
bertrand over clyne imo
-
Solid team.
-
Looks solid.
-
-
RVP fluffs big chance.... surprise surprise
