The current international break has allowed us time behind the scenes to update the Live Hall of Fame standings, taking into consideration the performances so far in the 2014/15 season. The Hall of Fame is a ranking system which we apply to everyone who takes part in our Fantasy Premier League (FPL) mini-leagues – both the free and the members league. Basically, this tracks the performances of every manager over each of the seasons they have participated and awards a “HoF rating” accordingly – it’s viewable to all via this link or the top menu “HoF” link.

If you’re wondering what the Hall of Fame is all about, you can read below for a quick guide. Alternatively, you can view this movie to listen to Mark and Rate My Team’s Chris Atkinson talk you through it.

Live Hall of Fame Top 10

Ville Ronka retains his spot at the top of the Hall of Fame despite a slow start to the new season. Having finished inside the top 5,000 in each of the last six years – three times inside the top 1,000 – he leapt to the top of the Career Hall of Fame rankings in our summer update but currently sits just outside the top 400,000 in the 2014/15 campaign with 157 points. After opting for a 3-5-2 formation in each of the last two Gameweeks, he’sdecided to activate his wildcard and restructure his 15-man squad ahead of Gameweek 4.

Site moderator Evs moves from third in the Career HoF up to second in the Live update. Having ended four of the last five seasons inside the top 10,000 – including a fifth place finish in 2012/13 – he’s off to a solid start and sits around the 75,000-mark with his wildcard still firmly intact.

Rasmus Sandman slips down to third in the Live update. Having ended the previous three campaigns inside the top 1,000, he sits on 170 points so far – enough for a 135,000 rank – after taking a points hit heading into Gameweek 3.

A non-mover in fourth position is Kenneth Tang. Having ended inside the top 1,000 in five of the last eight season, he carries some serious consistency into the new campaign and sits on 183 points so far, around the 27,000 mark. Intriguingly, he has decided to overlook Aaron Ramsey so far and, like Rasmus, has already taken a points hit.

Nick moves from sixth to fifth after starting the season with 189 points from the first three Gameweeks. Sitting around the 11,000 mark so far, he’s decided to activate his wildcard in order to freshen up his squad – after ending inside the top 2,000 in each of the last four seasons, he clearly knows what he’s doing.

Matthew Jones climbs from 18th in the Career HoF up to sixth in the Live update after kicking off the season with 187 points. He finished just outside the top 1,000 last year and also has a couple of top 500 places in the last four years – he’s opted for Eden Hazard, Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa as part of his starting XI.

In seventh spot is another climber. Derek Simpson moves up from 15th spot in Career after serving up 184 points in the first three rounds of fixtures – he’s already made a couple of transfers this week as he looks for a sixth finish inside the top 5,000 in eight seasons.

Sir Edo Nygren is also on the rise. Shifting from 12th to eighth position in the HoF, he’s made just one transfer so far – Bojan to Steven Naismith – and is the only one of our top 10 to opt for a more than two pricey defenders, with John Terry, Mathieu Debuchy and Dejan Lovren all taking their place in his 15-man squad. He currently sits on 178 points, just outside the top 50,000 mark.

Utkarsh Dalmia is off to a flier with 189 points on the board already. Intriguingly, he’s opted for a 3-5-2 formation and placed his faith firmly in United – Juan Mata, Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie all started
for him against Burnley, though he’s since made another transfer, which may well see Diego Costa return to his squad immediately.

David Meechan slips from eighth to tenth after opening the season with 158 points in the first three Gameweeks. Four successive top 10,000 finishes indicate his calibre, and despite a relatively slow start, he’s already made six transfers – three this week alone – as he looks to scramble back up the rankings.

Elsewhere in the Live HoF update, the 2012/13 FPL winner Matt Martyniak sits in 30th position after kicking off the season with 165 points. Matt is another Fantasy manager to have activated his wildcard over the first international break, with many new arrivals looking tempting alternatives to the likes of Rooney up top. Our very own Jonty is tucked in just behind Matt in 32nd spot as he searches for a fourth successive finish in the top 5,000.

Defending champion Tom Fenley sits in 686th spot in the Live rankings after opening the season with 171 points, whilst another former champion, Jon Reeson, is placed in 2007th spot – he’s acrrued 168 points over the opening three Gameweeks of 2014/15.

Analysing the Top Ten

Further assessment of the top ten shows that Tim Krul and Ben Foster are the most popular stoppers, with both sitting in five teams, though only two Fantasy managers have the duo on board. Interestingly, only four of the top ten opted for rotating keepers – the rest picked a starter and a 4.0 option – while just two decided on a keeper with a price tag greater than 4.5.

In defence, Hull’s James Chester is the most popular pick and has earned the nod from six of the top ten. Alan Hutton and Andre Wisdom’s starting price of 4.0 persuaded five managers to snap them up, whilst John Terry and Mathieu Debuchy have been the mid-to-premium defenders of choice.

In midfield, Gylfi Sigurdsson is the one constant – the Swansea midfielder is one of only two players to be selected by all ten. Aaron Ramsey (nine), Cesc Fabregas (seven) and Juan Mata (six) were next in line, while Raheem Sterling and Eden Hazard, along with Burnley’s bench-warming budget option Dean Marney have all found a place in four of the 15-man squads.

Up top, Wayne Rooney mirrors Sigurdsson’s popularity and is the only frontman residing in all ten teams. Diego Costa currently resides in seven teams though it’s telling that the three managers who went into Gameweek 3 without the Chelsea striker all sold him prior to the deadline due to the doubts hanging over his availability. City’s Stevan Jovetic was the next most popular striker, with four managers snapping up his services. Furthermore, only four of the ten managers in our assessment has a budget striker on board, with the remainder investing more heavily in their front three.

In accordance with the top ten squads, then, the template amongst our most successful Fantasy managers is as follows:

Goalkeepers: Foster/Krul
Defenders: Chester, Hutton, Wisdom, Terry, (Debuchy, Chambers, N Taylor, Van Aanholt)
Midfielders: Sigurdsson, Ramsey, Fabregas, Mata (Sterling, Hazard, Marney)
Forwards: Rooney, Costa, Jovetic

Hall of Fame FAQ

How is my rating calculated?
The “HoF Rating” is based on your points scores from previous FPL seasons, with the latest season weighted the heaviest and each corresponding season weighted at roughly 70% that of the previous season. So, in other words, those who performed best in 2013/14 will receive a bigger HoF Rating boost from those who did best in 2006/07. The “HoF Ranking” even allows for those with missing years, adapting the formula accordingly to allow to rank alongside the veterans of the FPL.

How do I join the Hall of Fame
Simply sign up to our leagues next season, either the Fantasy Football Scout Classic League or if you’re a member, the Members Classic League – the code will available on the dashboard of the Members Area once the FPL game re-opens for registration.

How do I find myself in the Hall of Fame?
The search box at the top of the ranking tables allows you to search by surname or by FPL id.

What if I don’t want to be listed?
Either notify us via support@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk or simply leave the Fantasy Football Scout league and you’ll be removed on the next update.

When does the Hall of Fame get updated?
The Career table is available to all and is updated at the end of each season to display the latest rankings. The Live version of the Hall of Fame is updated every week to use the latest season data.

Thoughts on taking a punt and trading out Ramsey (on my WC) due to his tough fixtures and bring in someone with nicer fixtures just for 3-4 weeks? If so who would you bring in?

      Not crazy.
I'll be bringing in Sterling in the next week, either for Ramsey or Silva. I'm leaning Silva, but it is not an easy decision given Ramsey's fixtures.
Also, with the glacial pace of price changes, Ramsey is unlikely to be unaffordable in 3-4 weeks.

    Bego

    Ivan - Clyne - Wisdom - Chambers - Hutton

Ramsey - Siggy - Di Maria - Sterling - Marney

    Costa - Falcao - Welbeck

Do you remember that time when Di Maria and Falcao saved United? Welbeck saved Wenger. And Costa was just pretending to be injured (again)?

I don't understand the people jumping on the Falcao bandwagon before he has even played a game. Yes, he comes with an excellent pedigree, and yes, he has a history of starting well at new teams. The biggest reason to stay away for now: A-C-L. Is rare for a player to come back from ACL surgery and not lose a step. More often, they are never the same player. It's the same reason that I'll stay clear of Walcott, at least initially.

There are definitely exceptions (Adrian Peterson is the craziest one). But most of the time, the player is a bit slower, and never gets back to the heights achieved before the injury.
Falcao may well be among the excrptions, but it's nothing more than blind hope at this point.

Evening. If any of you are interested in joining a draft league, Conrad has once again set up a few leagues for other FFS regulars. Seven of us have signed up for. Tomorrow night's draft and we are looking for two more players. If you are interested, it is first come, first served -- here are his instructions.

We did one last season and it was good fun, especially the pressure of the draft. No player can be owned by the same manager, so the choices get interesting pretty quickly.

    Cheers

By the way, we should do a Champions League comp like we did before the World Cup. 32 teams so the numbers work. Could be a lot of fun pulling for an upset or two.

Welcome aboard. We each pick players one by one, draft reverses order each round so nobody has an advantage. The names will go from premium to strong to solid to meh and you need to fill out your team.

Under the tab Other, the link League Rules Summary should help.

Show up a few minutes early (about 23 hours from now) and get yourself set. The banter is fun and lighthearted as we can chat with each other during the draft.

To Liverpool attacking cover or not to cover ?

I had decided in the beginning of the season to go "Liverpooless" due to their fixtures, Champions League involvement, and squad depth. I fought the urge to get Sterling despite my main rival having him and the extremely high ownership.

Yet, many have acquired Sterling this week due to fixtures and previous returns where he got two goals and an assist racking up a total of 22 points in 3 matches. That is 7.3 points per game. Which is making me second guess my decision.

All this led me to the following analysis:

Liverpool's next fixtures in 3 weeks are:
    AVL, LUD(CL), whm, MID(LC), EVE, basel(CL), WBA

Also, Sturridge's probable absence limits the options to Sterling, Balotelli, and whoever fancy a punt, Gerrard. Yet, rotation competition is there with Lallana returning to full training and featuring in Liverpool's last reserve match. Lambert for the striker role. Joe Allan, Henderson, Lucas, and Can offering options instead of Gerrard (Unlikely imo) with his high price tag.

So, with all that in mind, is a Liverpool attacking cover necessary for the next 3 or 4 GWs? Would you with any ? and who would you prefer having ?

Sorry for the long post 😉

Sterling is the best option IMO. I'll be tempted by Balo if Sturridge is out for a while.

Sterling looks like the real deal. Especially if Sturridge is out, I can't see him being rested much.
Balotelli also becomes an interesting pick... I can't see Lambert leading the line in too many games.

I kinda agree. It is funny because I have injury worries about Sterling more than rotation worries. Tough schedule ahead for a pacey 19 years old fella

Rodgers did a good job of protecting him last year. But I'm not really sure he needs it any more.
Injuries will happen. But not getting a player because of the possibility of injury is just silly. Especially with a widely-owned player, there is more risk not owning than there is with the player getting injured.

    Alright, how about this:

Ramsey and Tadic out, Di Maria and Zaha in (plus whatever left over from downgrading Tadic to Zaha) and then in 4 weeks, depending on form/fixtures could go Di Maria back to Ramsey and Zaha back to Tadic? Zaha just needs 1-2 good weeks (10-15 points) and he could go up .3-.4 which would give me a handy profit

Its a tough one to call. Long term plans with defenders suaully work as their based on fixtures. Bring them in and leave them there. Mightnt work out points wise but the plan is solid. Attackers area different story all about form.

Regardless, I think the best way to look at it is to make the plans but forget about them if they require hits.

i make plans for 3-4 gameweeks. it doesn't mean i end up following through, but it's a rough idea of which players i want out/in and the order i wanna do it in. having a strategy for making funds available for a more expensive player can't hurt.

you want to make a profit out of this and if all goes well get back the original players? doesn't seem like a wise course of action to me...don't try to be too clever...

ramsey and tadic have good potential, so do adm and zaha, but the latter are more punty and you are taking a hit to get them...seems an unnecessary risk...

anyway this is a dangerous time, in the middle of an international break, if I were you just sit on this and come back Thursday and see if its still a good idea

But it is impossible to have ALL the desirable players. Depending on who you have in his place (Balo?) it may work out fine.
Plus, with the slow pace of price rises, it's not as though Costa will be out of reach in a few weeks.

Just going with his high ownership and fixtures that are tough for any team, could be a good differential to get him out for someone who may have more potential to score in the next couple of weeks (although Ramsey probably will go well then 50% of teams will have that extra 10 points up on me..) 😀

Exactly. City Tottenham Chelsea in the next 4 are tough games but Arsenal are a big team. Chelsea may shut them out but other than that they should do just fine.

I understand your predicament but this page is also a bit of an advertisement for not using the WC yet. Too many good options, too much money. You are in a tough spot.
