Our weekly analysis of the Captaincy contenders arrives once again this Thursday evening. As always, we take a three-part approach which includes the weekly poll standings, the Opta statistics and our Rate My Team projections to help steer your thoughts on the armband conundrum.

The Captain Poll

This week’s Captain Poll is a two-way tussle for our attentions between Diego Costa and Sergio Aguero. With 41% of the votes cast so far, the Chelsea striker slightly edges it ahead of a home encounter against West Brom – he’s scored six times in five appearances at the Bridge, failing to net just once, and faces a defence that has conceded twice in all but one of the last five Gameweeks.

Aguero has been selected by 38% as Man City prepare for the visit of Swansea. The Argentine has failed to score in two of five appearances in front of his own fans this term, though with nine goals and 57 points in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game in the last six, he’s the man in form. The Swans have been decent on their travels at the back, though, earning a clean sheet in two of their last three away matches.

Eden Hazard and Alexis Sanchez could be real differential armband options for the Gameweek ahead. The Chelsea midfielder is seeking his third straight double-figure haul at the Bridge, whilst six goals in his last four underline Sanchez’s form as United’s patched-up rearguard limp into the Emirates.

The avalanche of votes for Costa and Aguero leaves little interest elsewhere. Cesc Fabregas has mustered 1% of votes – mirrored by Southampton’s Graziano Pelle for Monday evening’s trip to Villa. The Italian has failed to score in his last three now, but with the Midlands outfit sweating on the fitness of a number of defenders, Pelle’s owners will be giving him one last chance before the fixtures turn nasty. There’s no doubt he’s better in front of his own fans, though – the summer signing has mustered just one goal and a single assist on the road compared to five goals and three assists at St Mary’s.

Should the injuries tab on FFS be updated? If so what new features/layout alterations do you think should be made?

Personally I think you should be able to sort by "latest" updates rather than always alphabetical.

Should it be updated? Well yeah - with any new injuries 😀

Personally, I've never used it. I'm more than happy to read the blurb on the team news tab, and check the predicted line ups.

Its always been there, but everyone always asks for injury advice on the boards. I just wonder whether that is because the injury tab isnt actually that user friendly.

You could even make it interactive such that if you enter your fpl id it puts those 15 players updates at the top.

            11 years, 8 months ago

This would be a good idea, if workable. Having looked at it, there's a lot of players on there who are never really going to make it onto our radars. If it was just our squads, you wouldn't have to scroll through them all.

I think the reason most just check team news though, is that it shows the news for the current weekend all in one place - this is what people want most of the time. If a player is likely to miss more than one GW, we more than likely sell them so aren't as fussed about the specifics provided in the injuries section, I'd say. Therefore, the team news tab is what I would check - are they predicted to play this weekend? If not, I'd want to sell in most cases..

Or just a player search bar - like if I wanted to know when Giroud would be back to plan shipping Welbeck. Think it would be easier to implement as well

                • 12 Years
                11 years, 8 months ago

Yeah, good shout. I think the main issue at the moment is the list is too long - e.g. players out on loan. These will be red flagged on FPL anyway, so we'd never buy them by mistake. I don't envy whoever has to try and keep it up-to-date either...

I think flags on FPL are enough warning when someone on your team is doubtful / injured. Just being able to easily find those players would be enough imo (sort by latest updates and search bar). Don't FPL offer to email you when one of your players get flagged?

Would be really cool to somehow link Scout Tweets to the Injuries List.
That way very little manual maintenance would be required and the injuries page will be automatically upto date.

        Yeah.

Made a bad mistake holding onto Sterling and Tadic too long here and now Sanchez price is prohibitive.

Question is, do I take a hit now and bring him in or hope that Walcott and Ramsey's returns will impact into his points and look elsewhere?

Downing kicks me in the balls and joins Fab and Baines on the "doubtful" list.

    Here's me:

    Krul
    Clyne, Chambers, Hutton, Chester
    Sanchez, Wanyama, Boyd
    Aguero, Costa, Pelle

    Bego, Baines, Fab, Downing

Really looking forward to this week.....

And the 4 YCs in no problem if you're on a WC, because you'll have the bench to cope.

Very surprised you WC'd that lot, Bubz. What was the thinking behind?

Well there were quite a few reasons, next week I knew I'd want rid of my Southampton players, and also Begovic. Coloccini injured so he needed to go. I really don't want to go without Costa any longer so wanted to get him in. Wanted a Chelsea defender for their run of fixtures. Just thought now is as good a time as any really.

Your first defender will come in. FPL won't allow less than 3 defenders.

Surely you got some injury doubts to take out ahead of Adm and Berahino?
